NARS Notable Neutrals Club Meeting Minutes, Jan. 12, 2012: Should Lhasa Eyeshadow Be Granted Membership in the Club?

The following is an un-redacted transcript of the NARS Notable Neutrals Club meeting held on Jan. 12, 2012, in Novato, Calif., as transcribed by Tabs the Cat.

Order, people! Order! Is this thing on…?

Good evening, everyone. Tonight’s meeting of the NARS Notable Neutrals Club is called in session. I know everybody’s excited about the spring collection, but let’s settle down. If we don’t start the meeting soon, you won’t get home in time to watch the Jersey Shore — no judgement! Seriously though, quiet down.

Okay, our first order of business. I’d like to nominate a new member to the club, NARS Lhasa Eyeshadow. She’s a single, $24, and I propose that we waive public comments and vote to make her membership official effective tomorrow, January 13, when she debuts along with the rest of the spring collection.

Now, I can hear some of you grumbling back there… I’ve heard the charges that the club has become too exclusive to newcomers — Cyprus, I’m talking to you — but may I remind you that we are not mean girls. All of us were at one time new neutrals ourselves, waiting to be discovered and loved. Lhasa deserves a chance.

A little bit about our prospective new member. She’s a shimmery lavender gray, a little smoky and sassier than usual for a spring shade, but she comes to us with a long list of references from fans who love wearable taupes. Of course, we performed the requisite background check per club rules. As you know, the guidelines specify that new members must have a soft texture, lots of pigment and a wear time like whoa! She passed on all counts with flying colors.

I suspect that some members may feel that Lhasa is too cool for warmer toned fans. While that may be true, I still think she would make a great addition to the club.

Alright, let’s put it to a vote. All in favor of granting Lhasa membership into the NARS Notable Neutrals Club, raise your hand — er, lids.

One, two, three, four…

That does it! It looks like we have a majority. Mr. Tabs, please text Lhasa and let her know that it’s official. She’s in! And please send her the membership manual in the morning. 🙂

Oh, I think we should also consider assigning Lhasa a mentor to help her learn the ropes. When we spoke earlier, Cairo said she would gladly help. Cairo, can we count on you? You gals both have that violet thing going, and I think you’d make a perfect pair.

Next item on the agenda, Sunday’s bake sale. Nepal, what’s the status on the doughnut situation? Galapagos said something about the deep fryer being broken. Should I be concerned?

PRICE: $24
AVAILABILITY: Coming to NARS counters and online January 13

You are so cute. And that eyeshadow is banging, I think I need it. I hear it’s a touch lighter than Shale by MAC, is that true? I’ve been searching for a purply-taupe that wasn’t too dark.

You give the most awesome of awesomeness reviews! This is why I love coming to your blog…by the way the shadow is pretty but I’m not sure it’ll pop on my darker complexion. Plus when I wear a colored shadow(anything not brown, gold, copper etc etc) I really want it to stand out so my purple needs to be purple 🙂 Keep up the awesome work & Happy Friday!!

I loled about 5 times reading this! Great post!

Lhasa is definitely the type of neutrals with a twist that I adore, and it definitely brightens your eyes up!

What a pretty color. I loved the post – reminded me of my HS Model UN days. 🙂

Btw, I’ve used my Mia 2x so far and (yes, I’m crazy) I am convinced I can already see a glowy difference. It tickles the heck out of my nose, too. Plus, the Clarisonic cleanser that came with it smells awesome. I’ll be a bit sad to go back to my usual Cetaphil! Thanks again for the rec!!

I LOVE this post, like everyone else! Very funny and refreshing 🙂 it’s not a format you see often, but you did it really well!

Do you know how this compares to the taupey lavender in the Wet n Wild Silent Treatment palette?

You’re so creative! Single and 24 LOL! I thought there was not way you could make this cool-toned shadow work, but it clashes with your skin tone in a really edgy way!

Ooh, this one is neat! I could see it working well as a crease shade for fairer skin tones.

I really like this one, but I also really don’t need another cool, smokey, silver taupe. My new years resolution is to try and break out of my grey rut:)
