Summer in Britain Is Burberry Beauty’s Bright Idea for Spring/Summer 2012

January 23rd, 2012 by Karen 42 Comments

burberry beauty spring 2012 (10)

Slip on your favorite belted trench, Burberry beauty babes, and walk with me while we take a peek at Burberry Beauty’s collection for Spring/Summer 2012.

Since entering the beauty biz in July of 2010, Burberry’s beauty products have emulated their iconic fashion sense with clean, classic, timeless colors and packaging that smacks of class. Look elsewhere for crazy Kesha glitter, because this look is all about natural beauty with elegant pops of panache.

This season, the brand celebrates summers in Britain with shiny, bright, warm shades for lips, neutral colors for eyes and dewy finishes for faces and cheeks. The 12-piece collection showcases seven new shades and three re-promoted colors, and it’s available now online and at select Nordstrom stores.

FYI, San Francisco Bay Area Burberry fans, a new Burberry Beauty counter is coming to the Walnut Creek Nordstrom store, opening in mid-to-late February, so you won’t have to trek all the way to Union Square in San Francisco to get your Burberry on, yay!

Here are pics and swatches of six of the seven new shades. If you frequently fancy Chanel and Trish McEvoy, you may find yourself craving these products as well, especially if you like neutral eyes and pretty pink lips (that here seem a little bit brighter than usual for the brand).

Stay tuned for looks and detailed reviews over the next few days, but for now, let me know what you think.

Also for South Bay/Peninsula Burberry nuts (like me) Stanford Shopping Center has a counter :). The SAs are really nice too (also the tall blond lady, didn’t get her name, from the Chanel counter next to it) :).

LOVE Devon Sunset and Hibiscus! I’ll definitely have to pick those babies up!

I’ve been obsessed with travelling to London for more than a year now, so I’m so on board for the Summer in Britain theme :).

Now that I have seen the swatches, I want all the 3 lipsticks!

    And Hibiscus lip gloss.

The eyeshadow looks great for the look I am wearing often these days… Neutral, work-safe look! 🙂

I really love the etching detail on the lipsticks, but there’s no way I can afford Burberry makeup. 😛

Oh wow! Pale Barely might not look like much in pan, but I love how it looks in your swatch! The lipsticks are more than interesting too!

I spent Monday cleaning up after Sunday’s Chinese New Year party, but it wasn’t so bad! Had some more dumplings for dinner. That’s pretty much my idea of happiness 🙂

I LOVE Primrose Hill Pink No. 30. It’s such a pretty pink and it really pops against your skin tone. And the plaid imprints on the lipstick are to die for!

Ooh, lovely! Would you say Pale Barley is similar to Nars Cyprus? It looks kind of similar in the pan and it kind of swatches similar.

It’s beautiful! I love the Hibiscus gloss and the whole line looks like my kind of wearable. Speaking of Walnut Creek, it was the “scene of the crime” on Alcatraz last night. Have you been watching? I would know this if I had been able to check in more often! 🙂

I know – I’ve been missing you too! I’ve been trying to check in and speed read from home but it’s been crazy (and, what is the world coming to when work is too busy to comment on your favorite blog once per day?). 🙂

Alcatraz is from JJ Abrams and stars Hurley from Lost. It’s got a very Lost feel to it but the premise is that when Alcatraz shut down, all the baddies disappeared into thin air. Now, they’re coming back (un-aged) to commit crime again. Sam Neil stars as well. It’s pretty good!

I figured you’ve been crazy busy. It’s seems to always be that way right after the holidays, doesn’t it?

Anyway, I didn’t realize JJ Abrams had a new show! Where have I been?!? I’ll have to check it out… hopefully it’ll have some cool Bay Area scenery.

How are things otherwise with you? It’s fine on this end, just the same ol’ chaos!

It does! I haven’t seen one of my besties in 2 weeks and she literally lives a mile away. Thankfully things seem to be settling down a bit. 🙂

It’s on Monday nights on FOX; there have only been 2 eps so far but it looks like it might be a winner. I’m sure you’ll pick out a lot of local stuff, which is so cool.

Things are hockey-filled as usual, but they’re good. I can’t even imagine how you do it. I’m coming here and speed-reading to keep up on your posts, and you’re actually testing products and WRITING them all! I don’t think you can ever hear this too much: you do an amazing job! 🙂

I picked up the Pale Barley eye shadow, Devon Sunset & Golden Peach. The lip shades are gorgeous but I found them a bit drying–I prefer the Lip MIsts–more moisturizing and shinier.

Wow, they’re all such gorgeous colors! Hibiscus is calling to me loudly and I normally prefer a traditional ‘stick to gloss. Is it as beautifully pigmented on lips as on your arm?

Hibiscus is a very pigmented sheer gloss, if that makes any sense. It’s like a pigmented “jelly” nail polish for your lips, I love it so much…I wish it wasn’t LE, I can see it being something I use all the time and rebuy when I finish it (IF I finish it).

      Hi Ms. Strong,

I’d say it’s about medium coverage when I pack it on. You can also sheer it down so that it’s mellow, too.
