What Do You Think? Has MAC Released a Shade of Red For Every Heart?

MAC A Shade of Red For Every Heart

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, love. It’s one of my favorite holidays, and not just because it makes it totally legit to eat an entire 1-pound box of See’s Candies in a single sitting (something I’ve done multiple times).

How many pounds of chocolate candy are sold during Valentine’s week in the U.S.? (Click here for the answer)

I also love it for the red!

It’s everywhere — red valentines, red hearts, red candy and decorations. Oh, and let’s not forget lips.

MAC A Shade of Red For Every HeartAnd should you need a little help deciding on a particular shade of red to wear on or around the Big V, MAC has nine suggestions: A Shade of Red For Every Heart. The nine-piece release for lips and nails, available now online, includes some seriously saturated reds, some of them brights and others dark crimsons, and it even features a few former lovers like Cockney Lipstick (remember this beauty from Euristocrats 2?).

When it comes to lips, it’s hard (although not utterly impossible) to go wrong with red; it makes my willpower wilt. Have a look at these four items, which are some of my faves from the launch, and let me know if anything shoots an arrow of lust through your makeup-lovin’ heart.

From the left: Lustre Lipstick in Cockney ($14.50), Cremesheen Lipstick in Hang-Up ($14.50), Prolongwear Lipglass in Driven By Love ($18.50) and Prolongwear Lipglass in Lasting Achievement ($18.50)

P.S. How do you feel about red lips? Do you prefer ’em bold, bright, dark, nude, sheer or something else?

You look as hot as always! I probably won’t be wearing red for Valentine’s Day though. My boyfriend has been very tolerant with my beauty experiments, but lipsticks are a big no-no for him. I get winced at when I wear Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle, believe it or not! So if I want to be kissed on Valentine’s Day, I guess red is off the table *sighs*

Guys have a different set of standards when it comes to “too much makeup,” and unfortunately mine are bright lips! Maybe his Valentine’s present should be a red lip challenge lol

Ooh good call with the stain!

You could also do a red lip liner and top it with a little lip balm.

All of these shades are flattering on you, but MAC’s Ruby Woo is the perfect shade of red. Nothing can convince me otherwise!

By far I love Halloween best! MINI SNICKERS!

The only thing I really crave for easter are those Cadbury Mini Eggs. Sometimes I like Peeps too, but I need to be in the mood.

Personally, reds aren’t my thing, but I have started to branch out of my nudes and sheer pinks to brighter pops of colors on my lippies, especially with the essence Stay With Me glosses that you did a review on a while back.

I love red lips…on other people. It has been about 7 years since I last wore a red lipstick. Now that I have 2 little kids that I’m constantly kissing I don’t wear lipstick often. I have become a blush ho though. Karen do you think that the new Tarte blush in Buff would look good on NC20 skin? It is unlike any thing I have.

Reds seem to age me (I’m 41) and make me look like I’m trying too hard. I probably need something sheer but even a red tinted gloss looks bad on. I have ghostly cool toned skin, blue eyes and dark blonde hair but there’s probably no helping me, I’ve tried so many already but thank you for offering 🙂

I love a red lip… I”m a total diva/hooker, but I’m so pale it’s difficult for me to wear one. I have found a light touch works best. Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet is awesome and easy to apply… but Lasting Achievement may make me stop at the MAC counter tonight. WOOOOO!!!!!
