A Tribute to The Hunger Games! The China Glaze Capitol Colours Collection

February 3rd, 2012 by Karen 42 Comments

So maybe limited edition nail polish collections and sci-fi teen fiction trilogies make unlikely bedfellows, but just like Greasy Sae’s mice meat, pig entrails and tree bark stew, something about this one just works.

China Glaze pays tribute to the tributes of The Hunger Games with the new Capitol Colours Collection, which catches fire on shelves at Sally Beauty and Ulta stores, and beauty salons early next month.

Playing with these polishes was almost like reading the books. I couldn’t put ’em down! — and as I let the 12 polishes ($7 each) parade across my fingertips this afternoon, I wondered which ones Cinna would choose for Katniss… 🙂

I think Cinna would choose “Electrify”! (or at least I know I would 🙂 )

It’d go great with her “girl on fire” outfit when she rides out on the chariot with Peeta!

Those colors look great! How much of a geek am I to know that’s the last thing Peeta says to Katniss before the Epologue?

I really want some of these like Agro for one! I like how you swatched and photographed these. I’ve been trying to figure out fun ways to swatch on my blog when I have several shades. Love these ideas!

Eee! The end of March can’t come soon enough 😀

I love the look of these – Fast Track in particular! I’m not usually much of a polish girl, but I might have to make an exception for that one ;o)

I’m not familiar with the series. I’ve looked at the books multiple times, just never picked them up!

I really like the glitters, especially Electrify. I also really like Dress Me Up. I can’t wait to pick these colors up and try them for myself.

electrify is gorgeous, so is smoke, foie gras and luxe and lush! this coming from the girl whose nails are almost always not painted and cut short. 😀

I LOVE THESE PICTURES! Most creative swatches out there for sure 🙂 If I only get one of these (highly doubt it, I’m thoroughly obsessed with both CG and the series), it’ll be Smoke and Ashes. It just looks so very elegant and beautiful *-*

Fast Track, Dress Me Up, Hook and Line, and Harvest Moon are on my short list. Even though it’s probably more golden, I’d love to see Fast Track next to Butter London’s All Hail the Queen/McQueen. They both have a little of that taupe-y, glittery thing going on.

Honestly, this is the only polish collection I have been anticipating with this much excitement in some time.

I loooove the books. When I was working at a middle school, it was one of the books that all of the kids had to read. And even kids who hated reading just became obsessed with them. They’re written at a middle school reading level, but the subject and the story are just so outstanding that tons of adults I know are hooked too. I’ve been really excited about this China Glaze collection, but I was so worried it would disappoint. However, these look so pretty! I can’t wait to buy Stone Cold, Smoke and Ashes, and Riveting!

Believe it or not, I’ve never read any of The Hunger Games books! I just bought the first because everyone’s been telling me how amazing it is. 🙂 Plus I needed a new good book.

This collection looks amazing – love a bunch of the nail polishes. Thank you for swatching them, Karen! And I like how you featured the books in the background. 🙂
