Why Wait for Summer? Prepare for Poolside Afternoons Now With Benefit Cabana Glama

March 2nd, 2012 by Karen 19 Comments

Pretty soon it’ll be spring, and then summer soon after. Before you know it, our conversations will turn more to topics like swimming pools, beaches and other things, like how…

…getting ready to chill at the pool with Ryan Gosling can be sooo stressful (or so I’ve heard). 🙂

Do I go the glamazon route, curling my hair into beachy waves and shimmying into a string bikini, a cute coverup and a pair of nude wedges? Or do I go the rough-and-tumble surfer girl route, and scoop my mop into a messy bun, slip on a practical two-piece (the one with the top that looks like an industrial-strength sports bra) and my favorite pair of ratty Reef flip-flops?

It’s a big decision — but until I make it, one thing’s for sure: the new Benefit Cabana Glama ($26) kit will have my back.

This latest kit from the boys and babes at Benefit comes with brightening and bronzing makeup for eyes, lips and cheeks.

If posing on your beach chair beside a fru-fru umbrella drink and a stack of glossy magazines ranks up high on your agenda (I could get into something like that, hello!), do it in style with a sun-kissed glow. Just sweep Cabana Glama’s Hoola Bronzer and Some Kind-A Gorgeous in Medium on your face, followed by one (or two or three) of the kit’s Eyeshadows on your lids.

And when you’re ready to cool off with a quick dip — and maybe do a few underwater handstands or dive from the high board (you so crazy!) — Cabana Glama can also help you keep it simple, by just blending soft pink Posietint on your cheeks and lips.

Wearing Eyeshadows in Peach Fizz, Bronze Buzz and Cocoa Pizzazz on my eyes (no fallout!); Hoola across my forehead and to contour my cheeks; and Posietint on my cheeks and lips

I love almost everything about this kit — the bronzy skin, the growing neutral eyes, the sweet pink cheeks and lips. I just wish Some Kind-A Gorgeous came in a few more shades, because I think Medium is a little light and pink for me and my NC42 tan.

That, and I would love the addition of a miniature Benefit BadGal Waterproof Liner to the kit, and/or maybe even a Mascara, to really complete the overall look. 🙂

PRICE: $36
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Benefit stores, counters and also online

Wow! What a great kit/palette! I think this is a definite must-have for me. I’ve been wanting to try Hoola forEVER and I desperately need a matte, brown-based bronzed (as opposed to peach or copper or some shade that inevitably looks pinky on my skin…) and those eyeshadows look marvelous as well… I agree about the powder, it will be a light for me but maybe I can use it in the center of my face. Can’t wait to get this!

I love benefit makeup. I use quite a bit of it. Im actually fair skin and when I used some kind of gorgeous in light or the regular shade. it was actually a tad to dark for me but it did make my skin look perfect. I love their tints and have posie tint its such a sweet poppy color. I really like these shadow colors and may have to run to ulta to check them out and see if they come seperate.

      Hi Lilli,

I like a lot of it too. Have you tried the lipsticks yet? They’re really nice.

LOL, I think it’s the hair. I was having an unusually good hair day!

      Happy Saturday!

I’ve always wanted to try Hoola (the full size version) because I love matte bronzers, but I’m not too fond of their square box cardboard packaging. =/

You should still give it a try. It’s a fab fool-proof bronzer that looks good on almost everyone.

I’m not really feeling this set. I have and love Hoola, but I can’t see myself using anything else in this.

Hoola is great! It’s pretty much fool proof.

Congrats on getting your paper done. You should treat yourself!

I really love the benefit kits, it’s just such a shame they always come with a concealer that just isn’t the right color for me, and puts me off from buying it…

I wish they’d do versions with light, medium and dark! That would be quite handy, yes?

I only kind of want to try Holla and Posietint, so I’ll probably pass on the set! The concept is good, but I think everybody has similar eyeshadows in their arsenal already, and the medium shade doesn’t work on everyone!

I love their kits, but I don’t need this one because I have a full size Hoola and a mini posie tint.

What a beautiful, “simple” look! You have totally inspired me! I think I will check this out at Ulta. I have never bought anything from this brand before and this might be a good start. Thanks!
