Exuberantly Sunny Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum

March 14th, 2012 by Karen 15 Comments

When the new Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum practically knocked the wind out of me with its pink peppercorn, orange blossom absolute and tonka bean charms, I had been on a two-week fragrance bender with happy-go-lucky L’Eau de Chloè, dousing myself with its light floral fragrance every single day.

Just like that, I went from floating high above the countryside without a care in the world — L’Eau de Chloè — to the raw grace of a 450-pound tiger, its striped fur glistening in the sun — Roberto Cavalli.

Equal parts powerful and delicate, ambery floral Cavalli officially sings the following notes…

Official fragrance notes

  • Top: pink peppercorn
  • Middle: absolute of orange blossom
  • Base: tonka bean

I love how it conveys femininity in a bad@ss way. Like, if I were strutting down the hallowed halls of Vogue’s corporate headquarters (in stilettos, of course), Cavalli is what I’d want to be armed with. It’s what mama wants to wear when she BRINGS IT! — or, when it’s already been brought-en. 🙂

Note to self: wear this dress with Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum

Imagine a prima ballerina leaping through the air, her muscles taught and stretched to their limits, and yet she lands ever so gracefully, with barely a whisper.

“Roberto Cavalli.”

The Florentine line certainly feels Italian to me, and if I’d been blindfolded the first time we met, I probably would have guessed it was a fragrance from Dolce & Gabbana (reminds me a little of The One). Many of my favorite Italian scents grab me with a similar sweet seductiveness.

On me, Cavalli lasts a full 12 hours. The eau de parfum version is available in two sizes, 1.7 ounces for $65 and 2.5 ounces for $85. Sephora also carries a 0.2-ounce Roll-On for $22, and there’s a matching Perfumed Shower Gel ($35) and Body Lotion ($45).

Cavalli may not appeal to gals who prefer light and fresh spring scents, but ladies who love warm, ambery florals like Lady Million and Gucci Guilty should give it a sniff.

PRICE: $65 for the 1.7-ounce bottle shown at the top
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Nordstrom and Sephora stores, and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

Rain, rain, go away…

I just got home from San Francisco, and yup! It’s still raining. Really raining (driving across the Golden Gate Bridge was scary!).

I think my interview with Clarins celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff went well, though, and I’ll post the highlights from it soon.

Hope your day is going well. Anything new to report?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Emily,

I have spring fever too, although today it rained like cats and dogs here in the Bay Area! What’s the weather like out your way?

I love me some good orange blossom. Have you tried Annick Goutal Neroli? So sparkling and pretty but heady… Or Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger? That one is a very va va voom retro orange blossom!

My go to power fragrances are Stella McCartney and État Libre d’Orange Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection – both rose based. One is rose and amber, the other rose, incense and leather!

      Hi Ines,

I like that Annick Goutal scent. Have you ever sniffed Des Lys? It’s probably my favorite Annick Goutal scent.

      Hi Ruby,

Thanks! I like those shoes, too, but unfortunately I can’t walk very far in them, LOL!

How was your Wednesday? Good, I hope.

I want this soooo bad! I love all the notes and tend to really like “not shy” fragrances. Although lately I’ve been wearing the heck out of Pacifica Lilac and Stila Creme Bouquet. Cause’ spring has sprung here and they both seem just right for the weather. But when I return to my perfume senses the RC would be right up my alley.

I’m guessing I’m a little older than you but I love this fragrance too! Roberto sure knows how to come up with a fragrance that appeals to women of all ages! It reminds me a little of eau de Gucci which I also loved but got discontinued. 🙁 so happy to have found this one 🙂
