Berry Me in Tarte Berry Couture for the Holidays

December 16th, 2008 by Karen 37 Comments

Tarte wants to wish you a very berry Christmas with the Berry Couture gift set ($35).

It comes with two products (actually, three, because one’s a duo) — one full-sized Cheek Stain and a mini-Rise and Shine lip duo with a gloss and a stain — items perfect for rushed makeup morning or for those moments when you just want a little color.

The shade is a limited edition, sheer strawberry red called Berrylicious. YUM!

From left to right: Berrylicious Cheek Stain, Lipgloss, Lipstain

An Easy Natural Flush

For the look above, I used Berrylicious Cheek Stain on my cheeks and the stain and gloss from the Rise and Shine lip duo on my lips. It’s easy to apply and wear — no extra brushes required!

First, I swipe the Cheek Stain stick once onto the apples of each cheek once (it feels really moist and slick), and then blend in the edges with my fingers. After a minute or so, the blush dries to a sheer, matte, pinched-cheeks flush.

The Rise and Shine duo comes with doe foot applicators on both ends — easy to use.

The lip stain has a gel consistency. I get the best results with it when I allow it to dry for about 30 seconds, and then add a layer of the gloss on top. It’s supposed to be a plumping gloss, but my lips don’t really look significantly bigger. They do, however, take on that “I’ve just had a hot hour-long make out session” look.

Daily Photo

I’m heading home to Hawaii for the holidays with El Hub tomorrow morning. Our mom is doing better and recovering from the two mastectomies last month. We can’t wait to see her!

This morning I dropped off Tabs at the kitty hotel again… Poor guy was not happy about it, but we don’t really know our neighbors well enough to ask them to take care of him. I miss him already… 🙁

On my way back from Hotel Cattyfornia I ran into Starbucks for a latte. The guy in front of me in line had a parrot on his shoulder, pirate style.

Her name’s Isabella… It was love at first sight, and she was eager to show me her favorite trick.

Play dead, Isabella!

I can say with certainty that this was my first-ever Starbucks parrot encounter. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Aaww, Isabella is so cute!

Have a great trip, and don’t worry… you know Tabs is just sunning by the pool and sipping catnip margaritas! 🙂

    Hi Glosslizard,

She was a really cool bird… just so smart and full of personality. I would totally want a parrot just like her someday!

LOL, of course Tabs would have to be sporting his Prada sunglasses as he lounged by the pool.

Hope you’re feeling good on this overcast Tuesday! I’m freezing!

Wow have a fabulous holiday in Hawaii! Glad to hear your mom in law is doing good. That parrot is so cute, but let me tell you, they are LOUD! My hubbie has a parrot from his teenage years (which lives with his family in the south) and he is SO LOUD when he squaks, it’s like someone is being murdered! Cute, but nooooo thanks.

I love that parrot! I also love the Tarte cheekstains. Do you wear the stain over a foundation, or do you go bare-faced?

I’m also glad to hear the good news about your mom. 🙂 Have a safe trip!!

… A parrot? *LOL* Parrots are cool. They’re uber smart with a lifespan similar to ours. Owning one is not a short term commitment!

I wish I’d meet a Parrot at Starbucks.

Karen, you look awesome. Very natural, yet romantic.
I just ordered my first Tarte cheekstain–I’m a little behind, I know…but I ordered Blushing Bride. If I get another I would totally be into the Berrylicious! I also ordered a Rise & Shine duo in Nectar.
Can’t wait to try them out–I hope I look as amazing as you 🙂

    Hey Karen!
What a cute parrot! She reminds me of Nacho, the parrot of one of my grandmother’s boarders. He used to call her name whenever she came in the door. I would try to expand his vocabulary when we would visit her in Santa Rosa, and he would sit on someone’s shoulder at the table during dinner. (And the nostalgia begins…) 🙂 I’m glad to hear your mother-in-law is doing better, and I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip.

i like the smaller size of the cheek stain – i had the wine colored full size and was sad to throw it away. i had if for over 2 yr and barely used it. But when i did – i loved the color and the sheerness of it! maybe i’ll check this one out!

    Hi Elle,

Oh! What are your favorite shades?

I put ’em on after foundation and powder. I feel like it gives the stains a bit more “stick.” I’ve also worn them by themselves, but when it’s hot or humid the colors tend to just slide off my face.

I would love to have an African Grey parrot, too. One of these days, hopefully one will adopt me.

    Hey Karen!

I love Blushing Bride and Sunkissed, and I just got Flush. Tipsy is OK too but can be a bit too bright for me sometimes! I bought Dollface because sometimes I get suckered into the whole “this celebrity I like loves it, I should try it!” thing (it was Rachel Bilson in this instance), but I have to layer on A TON of that for it to show up. It smells just like a strawberry fruit roll-up though. 🙂

I agree with you–foundation lets them stay on a bit longer. I don’t have oily cheeks but when worn alone they can totally just slide off your face.

Oh no, he says stuff! It’s hilarious actually, he says very inappropriate things sometimes (that they taught him) and he calls my hubbie’s parents names out also. He also coughs like a human with a bad cold. It’s cute but I don’t think I could live with him. They have 3 or 4 cats who do not mess with him at all because he can be fierce!
