NARS Summer 2012: Pics and Swatches

April 12th, 2012 by Karen 39 Comments

nars summer 2012

No more thunderstorms this afternoon, thank goodness! But Tabs would like me to point out that it did rain, which he described multiple times today as, “bootsy.”

Gurl, if the power had gone out earlier and I hadn’t been able to upload these pics of the new NARS Summer 2012 collection? — whoo! I would’ve gone makeup MacGyver in this house! I’m serious. I would have grabbed my mountain bike and some jewelry wire, a jar of Nutella and some Spanx and turned them into a homemade generator, LOL!

The nine-piece NARS release sails onto NARS counters and into online shopping carts and hearts April 13.

Full reviews coming over the next few days. Until then, enjoy. 🙂

Rescue me…

WARNING: The following contains PMS-related information. Reader discretion is advised.

Okay, so I’ve been trying this stuff from Borba, a health/beauty line, called PMS Rescue. It’s basically a powdered fizzy drink like Emergen-C, but for PMS symptoms.

I can’t say for sure if it’s the reason why “the girls” haven’t been as sore as usual or why I’m not feeling as moody as I sometimes do, but I think it’s the only thing I’m doing differently this month, as far as I can remember.

Could be the placebo effect, and if it is, that’s fine, too. If I revert from the PMS version of Bruce Banner back to the Hulk, I’ll let you know.

Off to chug another glass! 🙂

OOH! This is unrelated (so what’s new?), but do you read any magazines on e-readers or devices like iPads or Kindles? If you do, check out the Android/Kindle version of Entertainment Weekly.

I really like the graphic design of that magazine (and you know how much I like movies). They do neat things with titles and images that always give me lots of ideas for blogging.

Hope you had a good one today. We’re almost to the weekend!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I was waiting for your swatches of the trio. I was quite interested but the coral colour throws me. Would love to see how you rock it 🙂

Yeah…. LOL! Busted. But yea… I currently have 3 NARS blushes (dolce vita, amour, and torrid) and I am looking for the next one. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks a bunch Karen! 🙂

          You need Madly next:

Is that a vitamin drink of sorts? I could use some if it helps with the crankiness 😀

Seeing as 10 minutes ago I wanted salty, salty cheese-its, and now im drooling over the thought of nutella because you briefly mentioned it, I could probably benefit from some pms rescue, even if it is placebo effect. Yesterday was definitely the moody day as I declared “everything is annoying!” haha

Ooh, yay, nothing like NARS to brighten a girl’s mood!! I like the eyeshadow duo, but I have something sort of similar, but the trio also kind of piques my interest!

Oh Nars. I have such a weakness for Nars. From collecting blushes to their awesomely pigmented eyeshadows and then those lip pencils. I think it’ll have to be the blush and the Never say Never lip pencil.

I didn’t think I needed any of these…I thought I *might* check out the polish in person, since I’ve been looking for a nice creamy medium pink.

But after seeing the eyeshadow trio, duo and the blush…uh-oh…I think I ever want the Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil! But that is too much, so I would have to see them in person to decide which I like best.

I drink emergen-C but I never thought of trying it as a PMS remedy. I used to get super awful cramps and I used to take evening primrose oil capsules. They can be a little pricey but I noticed a difference in the severity of my cramps and moodiness.
😉 If the capsules cost less than the Borba drink, I’d probably take them instead?

Hi Karen! That nail polish & eye trio look beautiful!!

How do you feel about the quality of NARS nail polishes? A few of their colors have been tempting…but I have heard mixed reviews about the formula.

Glad the drink works for you too! I could really bite when I have PMS. Maybe I should look around for something like this hmmm

Oh, and I made a key lime pie recently in case anyone wants to see:

I’m really digging the Marie-Galante eyeshadows. Very pretty!

Thanks for the reccomendation about the PMS Rescue. I might have to try that. I always get so moody and want to eat everything in the house. It would be great if something could help with that.

I have the iPad version of Entertainment Weekly. I love getting magazines in the mail – it’s a nice surprise to see something other than junk mail – but I’ve enjoyed reading EW on the iPad too.

It’s Friday now, so TGIF! 🙂

Do you think Liberte will look good on my pale skin? Looks a bit “burnt” in the pan – but so did Cactus Flower, and that is gorgeous on me in the summer, so maybe I’ll try it… I love NARS blushes, I have Deep Throat (my HG NARS blush), Angelika, Cactus Flower, Nico (great setting powder for fair to light skin tones, actually), Orgasm and Douceur. Penny Lane and maybe Torrid or Liberte for the summer are also on my list!

I’m loving the Marie-Galante Duo Eyeshadow. Whether it’s blue toned or red toned, I love all kinds of purples! Purple eyeshadows compliment my NC30/35 skin tone very well, so I’m sure Marie-Galante will not disappoint! =)

Normally I’d be all over that duo, but lately I’ve been trying to go for a minimalist, easy look that doesn’t take me too long to do! I did just buy my first NARS blush, though, and I’ll admit that I am wayyy too excited over the purchase of a blush ;D

I’m not sure if you’ll know the reason Karen, but I noticed that in the trio (which I LOVE), the shadows are pressed two different ways. The blue silver shade is pressed longways. Any guesses as to why?

I noticed that too, Madelynn. I’m not sure why it’s like that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if NARS did it on solely for aesthetic/artistic reasons.

That would make sense. My first thought was maybe the pigment is pressed down better that way? Who knows haha.

Beautiful ! I have Ramatuelle and Vendanges, I will probably order Marie-Galante or wait until it arrives here, this duo is gorgeous ! The collection is really pretty, today I put Vendanges, my boyfriend said it looked great and it does, I can’t wait to see the Dior Croisette collection, I’ll buy only from Nars and Dior, other collections for summer 2012 are not so good in my opinion.
