Chanel Vendetta Nail Polish: Midnight Purple Fantasy

January 1st, 2009 by Karen 33 Comments

Girl, I don’t care how you do it — walk, run, rollerskate or hitch a ride on a three-legged donkey — but find some way to see the new limited edition Vendetta nail polish ($23) in person before it’s too late.

One of two new nail polish shades released for spring 2009, Vendetta’s shimmery midnight purple shines with flecks of red and blue micro-gltter. Imagine the darkest purple — nay, almost black calligraphy ink — and that’s Vendetta. I. LOVE. IT.

Vendetta selling out fast

I’m not the only girl fawning over it. A Chanel artist friend told me the color has been selling out super uber-fast. So fast, in fact, that in less than a week her counter had sold more than half their supply! Some women were buying multiple bottles, LOL! Seriously, I can see why. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Love Chanel Vendetta but looking to save a few bucks? Consider Essie Sexy Divide ($8).

Django, Chanel’s second spring polish shade

Vendetta (aka the spring nail superstar) joins another Chanel polish shade this spring. Django, a shimmery, peachy beige with pink touches, looks just like the inside of a seashell.

While Django may not look as dramatic or seem as unique as Vendetta, I still like it. The peach and pink add warmth to the beige, and together I think they complement tan skin. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

My empire for a sale on Chanel…

No two ways about it — these nail polishes are pricey, but they’re both top notch in terms of pigmentation and durability. I can be tough on my nails, yet after four days (without a base coat), there isn’t a chip on ’em. That’s a big plus for me.

Tabs, immortalized

I went home a few days ago to see my parents and to celebrate my mum’s 60th birthday (happy b-day, mumsy!).

And since El Hub and I had been visiting the rest of our family over in Hawaii on Christmas Day, we also celebrated our East Bay belated Christmas.

Look what my mom made for me… 🙂

Awww! SO CUTE!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Vendetta looks great! I love Rouge Noir from Chanel… I also plan to get a gorgeous gold-specked brown (LE, hope it is stilled around) that I saw in a magazine recently (named something with chocolate?)!

Vendetta is awesome, I swatched it last week. One thing that BUGGED though was I couldn’t get a really good pic of the flecks! It’s one of those that you can’t really tell how awesome it is until you see it in person.

Vendetta looks hot! If I wasn’t going to buy stuff from MAC BBR, I would definitely get it! But, I spent too much on Christmas presents for the fam.

Happy New Year, Karen! That polish looks gorgeous – it compliments one of my weaknesses, which is finding deep colors to substitute for black, which I can’t pull off too well. I’ll for sure check out the Essie one soon.

I hope your night and day went great. I was very fortunate to spend mine with family and friends, and had a great time and everyone arrived home safely. I didn’t find a need for a three-legged donkey, but I’ll let you know if I use one soon. 🙂

Vendetta is nice but not something I need to buy especially since I bought the clarisonic last night(eek!). Django looks streaky-not worth the price to me.

I love Vendetta! I’m crazy about all kinds of purple shades and they really look very good so I must try this Vendetta. I hope its resistant, cause i used other famous brands before and i was not pleased with the result. I’m currently using shade 67 Cassis from Peggy Sage and I’m quite please for the moment.

Hi Karen. I didn’t get both the polishes. I want to try them again because I only applied one coat that day and the colours were not intense. I love Blue Satin more at the moment. Oh I saw the double-end lipstick and glass combo at the US Chanel website, thanks! The eye shadow singles are beautiful and the texture very soft!

Vendetta is so gorgeous!! $23 well spent for me. I am going to skip Django, I think it looks kind of gross. And I like nudes.

The one thing I hate about Chanel is their durability. I find they chip on me super quick. Surprised you have such good luck w/them!

I’ve been debating between Vendetta and Django, even though really it’s no contest. Now the question is whether I REALLY need another bottle of expensive nailpolish!

    Hi Vampy Varnish,

I agree. The lighting makes a diff, too. If I had seen it first in a room without lots of light then I would’ve probably not have fallen as hard, that’s for sure.

    Hi Erin,

It’s pretty foxy. You could do a similar color with Essie Sexy Divide if you’re lusting for it hard but wanna save some $$.

loving the trend of purple polishes out there right now but $23 is too rich for my blood for polish – i think i’ll stick to my essie ‘damsel in a dress’ shade

Vendetta looks like the purple polish I’ve been looking for for AGES! A very dark inky-like colour. And Django’s fab too.

D: I need Vendetta. Do you know if they will sell it in Europe (or, even more specifically, Sweden)? I’ve asked around, and nada.

It kills, because look at that nail polish. I’m sorry for abusing tags (LOL!) but that polish is orgasm in a bottle. Dark purple, shimmery orgasm in a bottle, at that. 😀

Also, that little embroidered depiction of Tabs? Most adorable thing ever. <3 I sometimes wish my own mom had an ounce of artistic skillz! ;D

    Much love, and happy Thursday!
