Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Empreinte: A Magical Medley of Pinkish Beige

May 10th, 2012 by Karen 24 Comments

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Empreinte

Many run-of-the-mill pinkish beige lipsticks appear to loathe my lips. They feel heavy, look thick, apply unevenly in patches, and leave my pucker looking creepy and very, very unnatural (concealer lips, ugh!).

For the record, Chanel’s pinkish beige Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Empreinte is not one of those lipsticks.

Instead, it’s one of those rare, magical pieces of makeup made from kitten kisses and fairy dust.

Okay, not really. The truth is, winged drag-queen fairy godmothers wearing Jimmy Choos and bedecked in dazzling sequined tutus made each one by hand, pouring the magic formula into each sleek Chanel tube. 🙂

This limited edition $32.50 lip Lothario also has a dainty rose garden flavor and scent and tiny flecks of golden glitter that sparkle from time to time in the light. It glides effortlessly across my lips like a Pegasus soaring silently above the clouds.

It’s so slick and moisturizing that I was able to apply it without taking my eyes off of my iPhone while playing Bejeweled 2 this afternoon.

Chanel Empreinte swatch

So what if it bails after two fish tacos? At least it sticks around for the horchata. We can’t all be annoyingly perfect, like that bubbly varsity cheerleader who sat right behind you in honors chem with her perfect hair and straight A’s…

No, I’m not bitter.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Empreinte

A slight hint of warm peach makes this lipstick a loveable companion for summery eye looks featuring warm bronze, gold and brown. And remember — every time you apply Empriente, a husky tabby bakes biscuits on his assistant’s tum.

Really. He totally does.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Empreinte

  • A lightweight, hydrating pinkish beige with golden glitter and warm, peachy undertones
  • An easy-to-apply everyday color (no mirror or lip liner necessary)
  • Looks fierce with dramatic smokey eyes
  • Love its versatility, but it loses a few points for price ($32.50), and for having such a limited wear time (about 3 hours)

PRICE: $32.50
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Chanel counters and chanel.com

Please excuse me while I…

…go to Trader Joe’s for the second time in less than 24 hours. If I’m not back by 10, please send help! I’ll probably be trapped in the snack aisle amongst the Salted Popped Potato Chips.

The reason this bag looks so tragic is because I finished it in one sitting, and every time El Hub tried to snatch it out of my hands, I clutched it tighter and yanked it away.

I’m starting to think TJ slipped something addictive into these.

So salty… So light…

Bomb dot com. All I have to say.

Karen

Oooo promising, definitely very promising! I’m usually unconvinced by this type of color, but I think I have to try this one!

And don’t you hate it when the boy tries to yank stuff snacks of your hands? I know I do!

      Hi Sunny,

This color is pretty cool, especially if you like neutrals.

El Hub does this thing where he stuffs his mouth with as much food as possible! I always feel like with the good snacks, I need to gulp them down before he eats it all, LOL!

Bomb dot com, you continue to make me laugh out loud at my own computer!! Well, looks like I’m headed to Trader Joes over the Chanel counter- bc I know those chips are waaay cheaper and more fulfilling! Only 3 hours of wear for 32 bucks, no thank you. Despite how pretty it looks on you, I’m going with your snack choice this time!!

      Hi JennySue,

Don’t be surprised if you eat one bag in one sitting. It’s easy to do. 🙂

Almost the weekend! Got any plans yet?

      Hi Let,

I found them on the bottom shelf of the chip section, so look there. They are SO GOOD! I also recently discovered their red pepper/eggplant dip and their vanilla coconut milk. Both are delicious!

What are TJ’s go to snacks? 🙂

I should check the bottom shelf then. My TJ’s chips section is kinda uninspiring to me haha.

My favorite snack from TJ is the Gorgonzola Crackers. I could finish one box of those crackers in less than a week. 🙂

          Hi Let,

I know the TJ’s chip section well, LOL! A few to try: Baked Cheese Crunchies (although the puff ones are good too), Plantain Chips (soo salty good) and the tortilla chips.

I love a nice pinkish beige lip and that one looks lovely. Oh, and I can sooo see myself polishing off a whole bag of that snack in one sitting. I tend to crave salty more often than sweet these days, although I hardly ever say no to chocolate.

      Hi Heidi,

You gotta try these! They’re super delicious. 🙂 I think they’re even tastier than TJ’s Plantain Chips.

      Hi Nawi,

I didn’t really have to do anything. I applied a layer and I was good. Your lips sound like they might be more pigmented than mine. You could try lining and filling in your lips with a lip pencil a shade or two lighter than your natural lip color. I’ve done that before and it works. MAC also has a product called Lip Erase that blanks out the color of lips. It’s a little hard to find, but if you can get a hold of it it might work for you.

As usual, this looks great on you. I’m attributing that to your natural lip pigment, though, because it’s so darn sheer in the swatch. 🙂

I have lots of chip bags that look like that. Usually, I’ll just tell the Hubs “please take this from me… NOW!”. My lack of willpower when eating salty snacks is astounding. 🙂

Next time someone from the office goes on a TJ’s run you have to request these chips! They will make you cry with their delicious saltiness. MMMMMM!

Almost to the weekend, huzzah! What’s going for the weekend?

Mmmmm, horchata. I absolutely love it, but haven’t been able to find it in the U.S. Every time I go to Mexico, I just drink it as often as possible (they often offer it in pitchers…. not going to comment about how much of the pitcher I consume, lol).

Awww I am so sad that I moved and there is no Trader Joes in sight. The red pepper spread was literally crack to me in California..and..well anything from there. They have uber cheap almond flour that I adored baking low-carb goodies with. Man I miss that place…should I write a letter and petition them to move into Colorado?

      Hi Daniela,

I had some of that red pepper spread again today with my wrap at lunch. 🙂 How did you like to eat it?

OH, and I have to look into that almond flour!

Hi, Karen, The minute I finished reading your review on this product, I told myself that I needed to have it. So in between trying to keep my almost three year old son in the double stroller and being patient with the undecisive customer ahead of me at the Chanel counter, I managed to quickly purchase this absolutely beautiful Rouge Coco Shine at my local Nordstrom yesterday. It’s a little Happy Mother’s Day gift to myself. 😉

I just found your blog. I had been searching all over for a picture of Empreinte on someone’s lips. Everyone seems to just swatch on their arms. So thank you for taking a picture of it on your lips!

I love the makeup look you paired it with!

Love your blog! You are so beautiful and funny! I’ve subscribed!
