Hey, What’s the Big Idea? Oh, It’s the Sephora Collection 12HR Wear Waterpoof Jumbo Liners

I wish we were all rewarded more often for the little, everyday things we accomplish, like when we make it through a difficult day, or hit the gym after work (even though we really didn’t want to), or manage to drive all the way home through rush-hour traffic without flipping anyone off (I never experienced road rage until I moved here to Marin), or for being just plain awesome on an average day.

Last night I felt like treating myself to a little something for making it through Wednesday (yes, I’m setting the bar quite low). It came down to a choice between froyo and a trip to Sephora, and this time Sephora won. 🙂

I was just cruising around the store when something HUGE blocked my way — actually, they were jumbo. They were these bright $12 Sephora Collection Jumbo Liner 12HR Wear Waterproof Pencils.

These fatty-bo-batty pencils double as eyeliners and eyeshadows for quickly adding bold, shimmery color to lids and lash lines.

Gotta love the waterproof action this time of year. It’s been hella hot up in my ‘hood lately, well into the 80s and 90s, and that has meant perspiration, glamorously referred to as “glistening.” And lots of it.

On one particularly scorching day last week, I “glistened” all over town, and by the time I got home after running my errands, the teal eyeshadow I’d applied earlier that morning had all but disappeared. (NOTE: I do not recommend standing in the middle of a Trader Joe’s frozen food aisle with rivulets of blue pigment streaming down the sides of your face. It’s not a great look.)

I don’t imagine glistening would be a big problem for these Sephora 12HR Waterproof Pencils; they seem pretty resilient to me. The swatches I did on the back of my hand resisted three vigorous hand washings, which is pretty impressive considering the price.

And I suppressed a squee! when I noticed the Pantone numbers on the display beneath each of the colors…

A number of brands make similar products, like Make Up For Ever, with their Aqua Shadows, and Tarte, with their SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liners, but both of those cost almost twice as much — $20 and $25, respectively.

Karen

I love, love, love these! I have the purple, khaki, and a gunmetal/pewter (which I don’t see here.) The only complaint I’ve had so far had more to do with my shoddy application – I got a tiny bit of the pewter on my contact and after several “scrubbings” with solution, had to throw the lens out, lol. They’re a great product.

      Hi TriciaJP,

I’ll have to look out for that gunmetal shade. Sounds like something I’d like! Hope you’re having a great week.

I love the Violet! It looks like it has a slight blue flash – or is that your camera? 🙂 Either way, so pretty!

Yup, from certain angles the blue seems to pop out. Love it.

Ooo, I’m digging these. I love using an eyeshadow pencil for when I want a quick eye look.

Yay for Wednesday being over. This has felt like a really long week and the weekend feels much closer now that we’re over the hump!

      Hi Ruchita,

Me too. I love a little bit around the upper lash line with lots and lots of mascara.

Got any exciting plans for the weekend? I’m going back to SF on Saturday night to celebrate my little brother’s birthday. We’re going to a Korean barbeque place!

Me too. It’s nice to be right on the cusp of the weekend! I love that feeling of anticipation.

Whatcha guys got planned? We are probably going into the city again, this time to celebrate my brother’s birthday. He wants to go to a Korean barbeque place in Japan town.

And yep — that is Tx weather – so weird and changeable!

Those colors look amazingly bright and vibrant- and to have withstood 3 hand washings- sign me up!! And the price is pretty killer too at 12 bucks.
Glad Sephora won out over the yogurt stop – much more slimming choice don’t cha think?? Ha!

      Hi JennySue,

I may have to pop by the yogurt shop anyway. Hey, it’s non-fat… and if you throw some fruit on top it’s not that bad. 😉

Hope you’re having a good Thursday so far.

OK, I totally laughed at your “low bar setting” comment. Sometimes we really need to do that. 🙂

I hear your ‘squee” and raise you an “so excited I almost clapped” when I read your Pantone note. Most people probably don’t get excited about a pantone book, but I’m not most people.

Also, have you ever noticed how much longer liner stays on your hand than it does on your eyes? What is up with that? I blame my oily lids. 🙂

      Hi Kim,

Oily lids are no fun. 🙁 Are you using a primer? I hope you have the NARS one because it’s awesome!

Hello! I have to get the NARS primer. I’ve had it on my list since you’ve said how much you like it. I still have quite a bit of UD Eden left, though. It works much better than bare lids but it’s been really warm here, so I think my eyelids may be “glistening”. 😉

Ooh, more fatty-pencil goodness! I love the purple and the olive green. I think these would probably suit me better than the MUFE ones (despite MUFE being my all-time favorite brand for eye pencils, cream liner, etc.) just because I don’t really use such big shadow pencils often, so a cheaper one to kind of play around with might be in order

I have all of these. I bought them during the last Sephora F&F sale. I really really like them, because they’re so comparable to the UD ones, and in my opinion, much better than the NYX ones (they crease on me). I don’t use them much, mostly because they get lost and neglected in my stash… 🙁

I have the Urban Decay 24/7 shadow pencils which I absolutely love but I only have a few colors, and I wanted to try everything pantone-related at Sephora (best collaboration ever).

These look great, and for the price they look worth trying.

Oh My! They are really really waterproof! I wore it to my dance classes and competitions and no matter how much I sweat, they stick on like superglue! The only draw back is because they are jumbo, its kinda tough to line the lower lash line with them. I still love their ability to withstand heat!! 🙂 Great product at great price.

My Sephora isn’t organized enough to have the display with the Pantone numbers. (Oh, don’t I wish they were…) But they do have these jumbo liners, and I’ve been loving them since July when I first saw several at one of the local stores! I like the glittery colors, where there’s enough glitter that it shows but not so much glitter that your face gets covered in fallout.
