Chanel Mystic Eyes Face of the Day: Pink and Brown Eyes for Work (or School!)

January 9th, 2009 by Karen 23 Comments

Since I’m headin’ back to school later this month, I’m playing with a few different looks for class.

Here’s the pink and brown eye I wore yesterday using products from Chanel’s spring 2009 Bohemian Fantasy collection.

Eyes

I started the look with Chanel Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Sand, placing it over the entire eyelid (1) with a fingertip.

Then, I applied the light brown shade from the Mystic Eyes quad on the lid (2) and, with a MAC 252 Large Shader Brush, applied the pink shade from the same quad on the browbone (3). Since that produced a few harsh lines, I blended them away with a MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush.

Next up — I lined the lower lash line with Chanel Precision Eye Definer Crayon in Brun (4) and smudged the dark brown shade from the Mystic Eyes quad directly on top of liner (5) with a MAC 219 pencil brush.

With a MAC 228 Mini Shader Brush, I applied the same product (the dark brown) to the outer corner of the lid and lightly patted the silvery taupe eyeshadow from the Mystic Eyes quad into the inner corner of the eye (6).

To finish the eyes, I filled in my brows, curled my lashes with a Shu Uemura lash curler and applied two coats of Chanel Exceptionnel Mascara.

Cheeks and Lips

I wanted the rest of the look to be subtle and pink like the eyes, so I swept Fandango Powder Blush onto my cheeks with a MAC 129 Powder/Blush Brush and finished with one coat of Rouge Hydrabase Lipstick in Rose Rebelle topped with Chanel Glossimer in Beige Guitare.

Tabs says hi

He insisted on getting in on the video action yesterday…

I hope your Friday is going well and that your makeup looks fierce! 🙂

Got any exciting plans this weekend? If the weather holds up (fingers crossed!), I may drive into the city to visit Fisherman’s Wharf tomorrow.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

You look very pretty here, I like how you did your hair too! And Tabs is just as cute as ever =)

Have fun at Fisherman’s Wharf tomorrow! It seems like the weather should be good for the next couple days, but then again, this is San Francisco… so there’s always some mystery in the weather 😉

Hi Karen. This look is very pretty. Ooo, you used Sand here. We only have one liquid eyeshadow released with this collection, but I can’t remember which. I just want to share that this liquid eyeshadow is water soluble, so you can splash water and wipe off almost all the eyeshdaow. You will just need a little makeup remover to clean the left over. 😉

    Hi Tuprnut,

Thank you! I will have to try your look next. I hope the silver/taupe works on my lid. 🙂

Got any exciting plans for the weekend?

    Hi Shefali,

LOL! I wasn’t too crazy about them either until I met Tabs. He looks a little fussy in the video. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch him on camera one of these days when he’s in a good mood.

    Hi Katee,

It’s a really fun, easy look. What’s your favorite color from the quad?

    Hi Arianne,

Thank you! I think it’ll go into my rotation of work looks.

Aww… hopefully Tabs will let me film him again in the future. I suspect bribery will have to be involved.

    Have a lovely weekend. 🙂

    Hi Miss QQ,

Oh, good to know! How do you apply them? Do you use a finger or a brush?

    Hi Vampy Varnish,

He’s still a little sniffly but he’s mostly better. 🙂

Bummer about all your cats getting sick a few months ago! Giving a cat medicine is probably one of the least fun things to do, EVER.

This eye look is über chic – you are really helping push me towards this palette as opposed to the Dior

    Hi Icempress,

LOL, he does look like a big boy on camera. I swear that’s mostly fur, though… from some angles he’s actually kinda svelte. 🙂

awww! tabs is soooo handsome. He’s such a big guy (long body, from head to tail). Rubi has the same grey tabby coloring, but she’s tiny (more compact than Tabs).
