TGIF and Two Tips to Get a Flawless Foundation Look

August 3rd, 2012 by Karen 21 Comments

Where’s Elliott, and can I get some Reese’s Pieces??

Um…I only just realized it, but in that picture up there, don’t I look like I’m trying to phone home with my foundation brush?

E.T. phone home! E.T. phone home! 🙂

All part of the process of getting close to that fetching flawless foundation look I like so much.

Speaking of E.T., poor little guy couldn’t take advantage of one of my favorite foundation tips for even skin tone — running a foundation brush over my ears (because he didn’t have much in the ear department).

It can really help if, say, your ears are a little sunburned or tan, like if you’ve been wearing your hair up and exposing your ears. Dusting them with a small amount of foundation can even things out a little more (just remember to remove your makeup from your ears at the end of the day).

I also like to draw my foundation brush up into my hairline, really pressing to really get the product up in there, which I did yesterday with NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. That way, you don’t get that lighter/darker edge around your face that can make you look like you’re wearing a mask.

This trick and the ear one are good ones to have in your pocket, especially if you’re doing something where you might be in pics.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Tina and Ansh,

That’s the new Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo in Exotic 50 and it’s AMAZING. After the shine wears down it turns into a hot pink stain!

Me too! It’s been a long week and I’m glad the weekend is here.

What are your plans? Doing anything that involves cooking? I wish I lived closer to you so I could come over and be your taste tester. I could also play with the kitties and the pup. 😀

I made a huge pot of Bolognese sauce and that served as our meals during our oh-so-busy, out running errands weekend! It was nommy and I have some for my lunch today with some of the cutest ribbon pasta ive ever seen!

The pup had his every 2 weeks spa day – bath and blow dry and a mani pedi – and he was pumped! He loves the pampering, which I find to be hilarious!

Squeezed in a bookstore trip too, which makes me even happier!

Great tips! I just recently started kind of bring my foundation not all over my ears but to my earlobes at least and kind of blending it out from there. I never used to go that far out with my foundation. Same with down my neck.

Happy Friday! Any makeup I had on has melted from the heat, but those are still great foundation tips. 🙂

I take it’s hot out your way today! I’ll send you some cool weather — we’re having a spell of mild days here in the North Bay Area!

It’s been an unbelievable summer here. Very hot (for this area) and very dry. Temps have been regularly in the 90s and it rained lightly for about half an hour last night. I can’t remember the last time before that! The pool has been getting a lot of use and the treadmill, not so much. 🙂

How funny. The weather here has been wonky as well! It’s cooler and it rained late on Saturday night! Usually at this time we’re sweltering in the heat.

Did you guys have a pool at home? Or is there a local one that everyone hangs out/works out at?

Now that you mention it, it does look like you’re trying to use that brush as a phone 🙂 Thanks for the tips! I always soften the edges around my jaw and hairline with a clean sponge.

Haha, I know right! I kinda wish my foundation brush doubled as a phone. You never know when it’ll be handy. 🙂

I’d say it looks as if you were trying to paint your inner ear with your brush 😀

Good tips, the hairline can be a big problem for girls who have lighter hair.

The ears thing, now that is an excellent tip! Also, I notice that Tabs is a very educated feline. Looks like he has some cell biology and sociology textbooks on the go.
