What Do the Givenchy Acoustic Colors Magic Lipstick and Lipgloss Reveal? Here’s a Tint: It’s Sheer, Pink and Looks Natural

First, mood rings. Now, mood makeup! How do you feel about lip products designed to change colors once you get them on your pout? The idea’s nothing new, but Givenchy’s new take on it is making me smile. 🙂

Some of that’s because of these chic, sleek outfits. Givenchy always turns that mutha out! when it comes to good-looking packaging.

And then there’s the way new Magic Lipstick Lipcolor Revealer in LIVely Pink #57 ($30) and Le Gloss Revelateur De Liv Magic Lipgloss Lipcolor Revealer in LIVely Pink #34 ($27.50) feel on my lips — lightweight, silky and comfortable, like my favorite silk dress.

Both the Magic Lipstick Lipcolor Revealer in LIVely Pink #57 and Le Gloss Revelateur De Liv Magic Lipgloss Lipcolor Revealer in LIVely Pink #34 were inspired by Givenchy spokeswoman Liv Tyler, hence the shout-out to her name in the products’ spelling.

Apply either the light pink Lipstick or clear Gloss on bare lips, and ahhh… Feels so good! Lo and behold, about a minute or so later, both colors have changed into deeper pink hues that last about two hours on me.

I know! That’s not very long at all. A bummer considering the price.

But I do like how natural I think these look on my lips, almost like sheer lip tints or balms, and I can see myself wearing them when I’m feeling lazy after applying a pair of bold smokey eyes.

With their subtle pigments, unflavored formula and faint rose fragrance, I think these are kind of a fun extra to have around, but the price and limited wear time may hold many gals/guys back. Die-hard Givenchy fans and high-end makeup collectors who love the look of understated, barely-there pink lips still might fall in love.

PRICE: Magic Lipstick Lipcolor Revealer in LIVely Pink #57 ($30) and Le Gloss Revelateur De liv Magic Lipgloss Lipcolor Revealer in LIVely Pink #34 ($27.50)
AVAILABILITY: Coming this fall exclusively to Sephora stores and sephora.com

      Hi Dani!

Thanks for noticing the blush. I just re-discovered an old favorite — it’s Becca Flowerchild! Have you tried any Becca blushes? They’re amazing.

      Hi Soo Jin,

I’ll put it on my list! I have to say, though, this look is VERY, very glittery. Are you cool with glitter?

Ok I am officially in love with that lipgloss–but I really hope that if I get it, it’ll turn a similar shade of pink on me because it looks AMAZING on your lips! And your cheeks are so glowy and perfectly flushed! And I really love how you did you eyeliner with that shimmery wash of color on your lids…ok, so I love the whole look. 😛

It’s so beautiful! I’m secretly glad about the 2 hour wear time because I know I’d just be buying this and never wearing it (like the dozens of other lip products I have!). 🙂

PS Bourne tonight. Woo Hoo! And, TGIF!

TGIF! Are you watching it tonight? Every time I see our boyfriend (hahaha!) I can’t help but think of him saying “Brows, lashes, lips. Frame the face.”

See, even Jeremy Renner wants you to wear lip products! How can you refuse?!

KAREN! You’re right – how can I refuse when you put it like that? 🙂 I’m definitely going tonight. How about you? It’s not getting great reviews, but I’m quite predisposed to like it anyway. Oh, and I recommend going to Rotten Tomatoes today just because our boyfriend is plastered all over their page. hee hee!

Yeah, I’m dragging El Hub. He has no interest in seeing it but he’ll just have to deal. I figure I can bribe him with movie snacks…it always works like a charm.

Did you end up watching The Dark Knight Rises?

The Hubs didn’t have high hopes and is not at all interested in JR’s forearms (or hearing about them) but he said it was “acceptable” which is decent praise from him. He thought Edward Norton had a particularly strong performance, but I’m so used to liking him in everything that I just expected it. 🙂

No, I haven’t seen DKR yet. I wanted to get there while it was still in theaters but it would give the boys nightmares and The Hubs had been out of town quite a bit. It’s still playing but I’m running out of time!

I love the way this looks! I much prefer using something like this to a nude lipstick with cat eyes. Nude never looks natural on me, but a “bitten lip” always looks flattering.
