Blush Technique: The Bounce

January 23rd, 2009 by Karen 35 Comments

Rise and shine, morning glories. It’s Friday, yea! Are you ready for the weekend? In this short video I talk about one of my standby blush application techniques, codenamed “The Bounce.”

Have a good one today.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Did you happen to see last night’s America’s Best Dance Crew? How about Strikers All-Stars, huh? WOW! That seven-man monkey roll was out of this world.

    Karen,
I like your videos (and you blog) so much! Your tips and tricks are simple and easy to follow and they really work. Usually I just look at the page or a video and just keep saying “Heey, it is so simple, how could it be that I wasn´t able made that up?” Yep, you rock! Since I know your blog my make-up technique has improved so much. And I thought that I already knew everything 😉

Btw: A shop assistant at MAC store recommended me their blush in Blushbaby which you mentioned in one of your vids and which I purchased. The weird thing is that I have very pale skin but it suits me. So I think that this shade of MAC blush can work with every skintone.

    Hi Yarisse,

Oh, that makes me so happy! I am glad that your makeup is lookin’ good. 🙂

And, sweeet — don’t you love Blushbaby? It’s so easy to wear and it goes with *everything*. If I have to pack light, it’s usually the only blush I bring with me on trips. You can also pair it with highlighters if you want more shimmer, too.

    Hi Tanya,

I hear ya, girl. I can’t imagine makeup life without blush. It really did open up a whole new world!

    Hi Kristine,

Yes! It’s a fantastic technique, huh? I honestly had no clue how to apply blush until I learned that one. It opened up a whole new world!

    What are your favorite blushes?

Thanks for the tip! Lovin your videos especially how you break it down to one quick and easy topic.
My blush seems to be fading fast lately so I need to try this one asap.
Been wearing Scott Barnes Samba trio (an old fave) and Chanel Rose Dust a lot lately but Blushbay is in my stash too.

Nice video! This was really helpful. I am always wondering what best way to put blush on my apples w/o looking like a ragdoll fool by the end. Do you have any tips on how to use a fan brush on really pigmented blushes [cough* NARS Crazed} ? I would love to see a vid on that, if you are able. Thanks. Have a nice weekend!

I am also glad that my makeup is looking good 🙂 And that is thanks to you!
Blushbaby is my HG among blushes, it REALLY goes with everything. I have been looking for something like that for years!
Oh and thank you for your advice, I will try it with a highlighter asap.

    Hi Karen!

I’m loving your videos, especially the idiot proof make-up application videos. I’ve never seen or heard of ‘the bounce’ technique but it looks really easy. Thanks for sharing, love the blog! Have a great weekend!

Karen, you are just too cute! I love your videos! As someone who’s made the mistake of packing on the blush too much (and too many times, I might add), “the bounce” seems like such a fool-proof trick. Love it!

    Hi Chris,

Hmm, maybe it’s the weather? Or perhaps your skin is changing. I noticed that as my skin changed from oily to dry that products started performing differently.

Ahhh, Chanel Rose Dust! That’s a good one. 🙂

I tried this today!! It worked so well to make one of my very pigmented blushes toned down and work-friendly!! 🙂 Great video <3

I liked ABDC last night! I have to admit I love the novelty factor of the cloggers, however, I agreed with JC that the Ringmasters need to dance more in addition to their bone-breaking skills. Weren’t Fly Khicks so cute in their outfits??

Hope you’re enjoying your Friday night! =)
