Beauty Snacks: Sites of the Day, Jan. 24

January 24th, 2009 by Karen 21 Comments

After the light, make a left turn at Butt Hole Road…

Britain takes the cake for embarrassing place names! My favorites: East Breast and Slutshole Lane, LOL!

I’ll have the Chanel No. 5 with a side of beans, please

Ever wonder why there are coffee beans at the fragrance counter?

The 80s are back! And this time they ain’t messing around

I guess if JT can bring sexy back, Urban Outfitters can revive the hair scrunchy. True confession: I have one in my bathroom drawer right now. It’s purple, and I use it to put my hair in a ponytail when I’m washing my face. 🙂

MAC Spring and Summer 2009 pics and previews

One word: HOT!

Who’s the final Cylon?

LOL! Okay, if you actually understood the above sentence (hint: it has to do with sci-fi), then you might be interested in the Battlestar Galactica series finale spoiler.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. It’s an overcast and dreary day out here on the lovely San Francisco Bay. 🙂 Have a great day today, no matter what the weather’s like.

I haven’t seen the new BSG, to me Cylons still mean ping-pong ball eye and the old Universal Studios tour ride! LOL!

Finally I got out to SF in the muggy mist yesterday! I looked at the spring collections and picked up the Glossimer in Wild Rose (so purty)! I also had to order online through Nordstrom, but I scored Icescape from MAC’s Chill collection (sold out at all 6 MAC counters I visited), and also ordered Dior’s iridescent eye quint in Petal Shine to get free shipping! I swatched Petal Shine and the Estee Lauder duo in Indigo, and I thought the violet and pink shades in the Dior quint were super-close in color and a whole lot better in texture! So yay for goodies in the mail! 🙂

    Have a great Saturday!

I just burst out laughing when I saw “Butt Hole Road” that is so hilarious. Yesterday I was reading an online dictionary of British slang and laughing my “arse” off because there are so many funny ones! I love those Brits and hope to be visiting them for the first time ever in London this May, yahoo! FYI – Prices are hella cheap right now so go now if you are thinking about it!

    Hi Tali,

I know! I will have to wait to get more info on it… sometimes MAC makes things that I don’t think will work for me but after playing with it I change my mind (like last year’s Originals collection).

I hope you’re having a relaxing, fun weekend. Got any big plans?

    Hi Glosslizard,

The first two seasons of the new were AMAZING. Then I felt like it turned into a soap opera so I quit watching it, but the now that series is wrapping up I need to know if they make it back to earth. 🙂

Woo hoo for your lovely haul! When do get your goodies?

    Hi Katee,

Boo to the rain. It’s been wet up here for the past few days, too.

    Stay dry!

    Hi Arianne,

    Sci-fi nerds unite!

I hate to admit it, but I’m also getting sucked into Star Wars: The Clone Wars . Have you ever watched it?

    Hi Vampy Varnish,

Thanks for the heads up! It’s been a few years since I’ve visited and I’d love to go back.

If you end up going in May you will to try some Garnier Body Cocoon lotion. I bought a bottle when I was there and I swear it was one of the best body lotions I’ve ever used. I shed a tear or two when I ran out of it, LOL.

4-6 business days, according to Nordie’s website! I can’t wait!

I have heard some really good things about the BSG series, sometimes I really regret not having cable! Right now I’m almost tempted to get HBO so I can watch True Blood! I’ve read all the books (totally worth reading if you haven’t yet) and the show looks like a really good adaptation! *Le sigh* Maybe it’ll come out on DVD!

I never quite got into anything Star Wars. I really should check it out.

Did you notice our boy Helo? I can’t stand his hair. 🙁 I really wish he’d get a haircut.

    Hi Glosslizard,

Hee! I love counting the days for makeup to come in the mail. When I ordered some Stila stuff from beautycrunch a few months ago I swear I checked the door every five minutes. 🙂

So, Trueblood — my homegirl loves that show! I think I’ll try it again and watch from the start if HBO releases DVDs (which they probably will).

    Hi Arianne,

ME TOO! I just only recently watched a few Star Wars movies. They’re pretty good! I want Yoda to be my buddy. 🙂

LOL, speaking of Helo I’m thinking that you might need this:

[From the Simpsons, Bart to the mail carrier…] Where’s my spy camera? Where’s my spy camera? WHERE’S MY SPY CAMERA?

If you want to read the books, the author is Charlaine Harris and the first book is “Dead Until Dark”. I highly recommend! 🙂

    Hi Glosslizard,

    HEE HEE! 🙂

You should put the kitties on patrol. Once the package arrives have them alert you with a meow, or perhaps a well-timed paw scratch at the door.

OoOOOoo… what a good title! I will see if my library has the series. 🙂

I was at AA over the weekend and could NOT believe the scrunchies. The sales girl was also properly horrified.

Also, BSG Crazy-Fan in the house….and the 5th Cylon pissed.me.OFF! BOOOOOOO, I say!
