Say Hello, Kitty, to the New Hello Kitty Eyeshadow Palette in Wild Thing

October 24th, 2012 by Karen 40 Comments

Hello Kitty Say Hello Eyeshadow Palette in Wild Thing

Apparently, I’m a one cat woman. This, according to Tabs.

That cat is so protective, or territorial, or whatever it is, that he won’t even tolerate another feline diva in the house if it’s orange and stuffed!

Witness his fearsome reaction to this predatory plush toy…

Observe the menacing posture, raised claw and puffy tail. There was also a lot of angry meowing and hissing.

Hello Kitty, however, is a completely different story.

Hello Kitty Say Hello Eyeshadow Palette in Wild Thing

Tabs just loooooves anything and everything Hello Kitty, and that includes the new Say Hello Eyeshadow Palette in Wild Thing ($36).

Like a brazen alley cat, the new limited edition palette recently strutted onto shelves at Sephora, just in time for the holidays. The funky print packaging (um…is that a giraffe or a leopard pattern?) contains two tiers of products, one row of shimmery powder eyeshadows, and a second row with a bronzer and a pale powder matte blush.

I also love Hello Kitty, but I’ve always thought of Sephora’s Hello Kitty makeup line as something targeted to teens and tweens (MAC’s Hello Kitty collection, on the other hand? — totally different story).

I am kinda feelin’ this palette, though, especially the eyeshadows. A couple of the colors seem surprisingly complex. There’s a pretty purple, all packed with flecks of golden glitter; an opalescent, peachy pink that reminds me a little of MAC Vex, except without the green and blue; a warm bronze; and a neutral gold. All four of them apply with little-to-no fallout, a good amount of pigment and a striking, shiny finish.

I really like my results with these when I wear just one or two of the colors on my lids, and then add a matte brown in the crease. With these, though, I’ve noticed that my fine lines look extra…fine (but not in a good way) if I do a full shimmery eye from my lash line to brow bone using just the colors in the palette.

Maybe it’s the shimmery finish… Not sure, but me no likey.

As for the bronzer and blush in the second tier? — eh, they’re a’ight. I like the smooth and silky powders, but unless you’re as pale as porcelain, you could be in for some chalk.

While I could do without the bronzer and blush, I think the shadows and cutie-pie packaging are definitely worthy of meows. 🙂

PRICE: $36
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Sephora stores and sephora.com

The Moth Diaries

As part of MBB Horror-Fest 2012, I Netflix-ed another one last night called The Moth Diaries, and ooooh! It was pretty scary.

The place: a private, exclusive all-girl’s school in a secluded, wooded area.
The situation: a new student arrives one day who may or may not be an evil vampire.

It’s equal parts teen film, coming-of-age story and good old-fashioned suspense/horror. Expect to shout, “WHAT THE WHAT?!” at least a few times. 🙂

Well! There goes the hump. We’re at the halfway point of another week, and by the way, you’re doing great.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hi, Rads. No matter how angry Tabs gets at another cat (or plush toy), he never, ever raises a paw against a human. I guess he knows who opens the gravy around here! 🙂

      Have a great day today.

I’m such a sucker for Hello Kitty packaging, The eyeshadows are gorgeous, too!

Your Tabs photo cracks me up 😀 As an owner of one dog, I know ‘only-child’ pets are spoiled divas; it’s part of the reason we love them!

I love Hello Kitty! Did you ever get the chance to pick up anything from the MAC Hello Kitty collection from a few years ago?

Oh, I agree with your assessment of Sephora’s Hello Kitty makeup. I find it very young (and shimmery). 🙂

Poor Tabs, I can feel his stress from here. Sort of like me watching Argo yesterday at 10 AM. Great movie but, even though I knew how it was going to end, I thought I was going to stroke out! And I’m probably in the minority here, but I think Ben is totally rocking that 70s hair and beard. It’s his best look ever, in my opinion. 🙂

      Hi Kim,

I’ve heard Argo is great. El Hub keeps trying to get me to watch it, but I wasn’t wow-ed at all by the trailer. So it’s a thumbs up, eh?

Definitely! I sort of felt the same way as you do (and I’m really not much of a Ben fan, though he’s growing on me). It got great reviews so I figured I should at least see it and judge for myself. My ghost-loving, cat-herding friend and I both liked it a lot. But we were seriously stressed. If you see it, let me know what you think. PS Canada comes off as very brave (eh?). hee hee!

I’m sorry, but puff-tail kitties crack me up. Whenever our big fat kitty (who shouldn’t be scared of anything) puffs his tail, I find it hysterical.
