Today I’m Grateful for Friday, Migraine Relief and Les Expressions de Chanel (Among Other Things)

Because it never hurts to ask the question, “What am I grateful for?” even if the first things that come to mind are simple or silly, today I thought I’d share with you my Friday gratitude list.

First up…

1. Chanel

chanel abstraction

Always Chanel. 🙂 Everything seems a little better when I see those interlocking C’s. Colors appear brighter, the air seems cleaner, and Tabs even seems better behaved!

Today I’ve been keeping myself busy with a few pieces from the new Les Expressions de Chanel. Among the eight pieces in the release, there’s a dramatic new mascara called Le Volume De Chanel, two new quads, three liquid liners, and a couple of new cream shadow shades.

All are available now on Chanel counters and coming soon to chanel.com.

2. Afternoon naps

tabs napping

If afternoon naps were an art form, Tabs would be a master.

I like them, too, especially when you can find a nice patch of sun.

3. Camera phones

Why? Because sometimes a phone call to say, “I just saw this weird 5-pound pork sandwich!” just isn’t enough.

Sometimes a picture is worth 1,000 words and five pounds, LOL!

4. MigreLief

Good news on the migraine front. One day about a month ago El Hub brought me home a bottle of an herbal migraine remedy containing feverfew, magnesium and riboflavin that he found at the Vitamin Shoppe, and since I started taking it, the gnargly migraines I used to get around that time of the month have all but disappeared.

5. Trader Joe’s Pomegranate White Tea

trader joes pomegranate white tea

Mmm… My new favorite tea! I’m telling ya, this stuff is delicious. It’s got some white tea leaves, hibiscus flowers and lemongrass, and it tastes nice, light and fruity.

Now it’s your turn. 🙂 Quick! — what are some things you’re grateful for? First things that come to mind. I usually jot down five, but feel free to share fewer or more. No pressure. Obviously, there are no wrong answers here.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. You gonna go see Skyfall tonight? I might try to catch the 7 p.m. showing here in Novato… Probably should use Fandango, though, because I bet there’ll be a long line.

I’ve got Le Volume de Chanel reserved once it comes in (I ended up not taking the job, it’d be too much with my school/other job/research/etc), the counter manager could not stop talking about it, I’m so jealous that you have it already – I love their other mascara, but this stuff she said she’s never gotten so many compliments on her lashes.

I might try and get some Illusion d’Ombres for Christmas, I don’t own any.

It’s a bummer that the Chanel gig didn’t work out, but who knows? Maybe sometime in the future they’ll ask you to apply again, and you can do it just for fun. 🙂

Ooh, I need to do this since I’m having a very moody, emotional week. Today I’m Grateful for:

    1) Great friends
    2) Glitter polish (just put on Barielle’s Pink Diamond — AMAZING)
    3) Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Macarons (we won’t discuss how quickly I went through a box of 12)
    4) Korres Quercetin and Oak face serum (this stuff is making my face very happy)
    5) Celestial Seasonings Gingerbread Spice Tea (perfect on a chilly evening)

Well then, I’m gonna have to demand that Missy take care extra special care of you this weekend! She can’t be the only diva in this relationship.

Umm…and I think I need those Pumpkin Macarons in my life, STAT!

What are you up to this weekend?

Oh, you definitely need to hit up the frozen section and snag those pumpkin macarons, or possibly the pumpkin chocolate torte I sampled during my last Trader Joe’s visit.

Yeah, I’ve been really sad this week. I guess with the upcoming holidays in my face everywhere I go, I’m really, really missing my Mom. This first holiday season without her is gonna be rough!

Not sure what I’m up to this weekend. I guess I’ll see what comes up. Haven’t talked to Brian this week. He works in construction and is self-employed and I know he had a bunch of work lined up so he’ll probably want to chill or just get other stuff done tomorrow. At least I’ll see him at church on Sunday.

Great list! I have also found migraine relief in the form of generic Imitrex (called sumotriptan or something like that, much cheaper than the brand name Imitrex). However, that natural supplement your hubby found is something I will definitely keep in mind and look at.

    I am grateful for:
1)Being able to do yoga after 3 years of not actively doing it. My shoulder stands and plow position are still great, my headstands and handstands need some help. I also forgot how relaxed and happy yoga truly makes me feel.

2)Garnier Dark Spot Vitamin C Correction Overnight Serum. I have already noticed a difference in a few days in my zit scars, and my complexion is brighter.

3)Tea in general – so far this year I’ve been drinking SleepyTime Tea, green tea, Hibiscus Tea, Apple Cider Tea (both Hibiscus and Apple Cider teas found at Roots stores, they come in a cylindrical container), and honey vanilla chamomile tea.

4)Warm Socks – I love the hunting/hiking ones at Walmart! They are so warm and cozy.

5)Sleeping in and spending the morning in bed with a good book.

Thanks for sharing your list, Katherine.

It’s been a minute since I’ve gone to yoga class. I have to go back! I really enjoy the loose and happy feeling in my muscles after a good workout.

Are you reading any good books these days?

I am reading ones about yoga and body building right now. They inspire me and give me new workout ideas. I love the body building book because this guy says that women can be just as strong as men with a little bit more work, and the light weights are not doing us any favors (unless you are just starting). It’s called “The New Rules of Lifting for Women” by Lou Schuler.

    I’m grateful for…
1- my husband being so great 🙂
2- Earl Grey tea. I wouldn’t survive in this world without my dose of Earl Grey every morning!
3- Egyptian cotton bedsheets. They feel so good I stay in bed as much as I can :p
4- fleece. Fleece feels so soft and warm it’s almost too much… We’re having a few days of cool, rainy weather here in SoCal, and wearing a fleece shirt feels goooood!
5- the internet. I’m not sure what I’d do all day without the web…

I need to try this herbal remedy for migraines, I’ve had them every day during the bad week of the month for a while now! 🙁

    I am grateful for:

    1. My mom. She is the best mother in the whole world.
    2. Internet. I see so many lovely people all round the world. 🙂
    3. A cozy bed that I can sleep in on weekends
    4. My fiance’ and my friends that are so sweet while I plan my wedding in Jan and I tend to become a sort of bridezilla. (Its scary)
    5. Makeup. Transformed my life and became my sweet obsession.

Ooh, that tea sounds tasty. And the pork sandwich sounds terrifying… it seems like it should be tied in to Wendy’s Baconator somehow.

OMG, migraine sufferers! That stuff should work. After no relief from any medication for my migraines my doc wanted to try antisiezure meds. I said no way. He understood and told me to take 250 mg of Riboflavin (Vit B2) a day and give it a couple of months to work before giving up and it worked! Another doc told me about Magnesium and migraines and I haven’t tried it, yet. I have few break through migraines with the Vit B2.
It is not a gimmick! Please pass this info, or even that supplement above, to someone you know with migraines! I used to have so many they interfered with my life.
The Vit B2 is so cheap, too. But beware, if you stop taking it thinking you are cured or having a placebo effect, you may get 3+ day rebound migraine!! I would know!
