Smashbox Approached the Love Me Spring 2013 Collection Whole-Heartedly

January 8th, 2013 by Karen 32 Comments

hello from sephora

Okay, Tina Turner, what’s love got to do with it?

We’re looking at the new Smashbox spring collection, a six-piece release called Love Me, at the Sephora store in Novato.

Oh, and I’d also like to introduce you to my new friend/Sephora Novato mascott, Husky Dog. 🙂

‘Tsup?
Have fun swatching. I’ll just stay here and guard this post…

I guess she was hanging out and waiting for her assistant. I tried to strike up a convo, but she paid me no mind…

First off, the two eyeshadow palettes from the collection. If I could only pick two things from the release, these are two I’d get. They’re really soft, almost creamy, and very pigmented. Mmm, hmm…

The line art on the packaging spells “Love Me.” (The heart is the “M.”) And when you open it, you see the curvy lines on the pan.

Nice touch.

And the blush. If you look closely, you’ll see hearts on the pan…

…and hearts on the two lipsticks. (Or are those peace signs?? Or rabbit ears??).

I’m not really into the liquid liner… The stiff felt tip seems like it would be a little hard to control. When I’m working with liquid liners, I like the ones with thinner, flexible tips that have some give to ’em. I don’t know, I just feel like they’re easier to control. The tip on this thing, though, looks like a Sharpie.

I guess you could tag or boyfriend or girlfriend with it… Maybe write, “MINE!” 🙂

Here are some swatches of the collection on my NC42 skin. Check them out, and let me know if you like anything.

Another one to add to the Valentine’s Day wish list? I’d add the eyeshadow palettes, and maybe the lipsticks, and the blush, too, which is everything…except for the liner. LOL! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Eeeks! Both of the eyeshadow palettes are gorgeous! 😀 Cute touch on the liner swatch 😉

Honestly though…did the liner apply like a thick sharpie? 😮

Love that palette! Both are amazing. But then what is not amazing about Smashbox… I am such a sucker for the hearts embossed on the side of the lipstick and in the blush! Too cool! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Ooooh love the swatches of Entice Me…although, the swatches look purple instead of blue (which I personally prefer but i’m sure it’s disappointing to those who were wanting a blue palette)

Blues tend to look purple on me, so it may look more blue on your skin, Becca.

Wow, those lipsticks are made for me because my blog is named bunnies and peace 😉 but unfortunately, I think that print is neither a bunny nor a peace sign. It’s a sloppy drawing of a heart. Colors are great though!

Yup, I know! I mention the hearts in the sentence before the peace signs and rabbit ears comment (it was a joke). 🙂

The colors are nice just not a fan of all that cutout design on the makeup and lipsticks. Just give me great colors with a lot of product.

Admire Me is SO me, and the lipsticks are way cute too!

I get really frustrated when dogs ignore me LOL A while ago I was at a small cafe. The owner has a really old dog. He was friendly to everyone but consistently ignored me. I guess he didn’t fancy the cat smell on me eh 😉

A whole lotta! I know this is kinda late but Happy New Year! What did you and the fam do on NYE? We ended up staying in, ordering some food and just chilling on the couch.

Happy New Year to you, too! I know – I’m sorry about not being around in the comments very much. I’m trying to at least keep up with the posts but it’s been pretty wild around here. 🙂 The boys stayed with my parents while we went out to a party at a local banquet hall with like 10 other couples (and about 500 other people, HAHA!). Lots of dancing and fun – we usually do that every other year and then one of the group has a house party in the off-years. I believe 2013 will be our turn for the house party. 🙂 Yours sounds really appealing, too. Sometimes fighting the big crowds is a bit much. It was cold here so the Hubs and I were doing some grumbling about staying at home under a blanket (instead), as we were heading out the door. HAHA!

The palettes are gorgeous and I really like the lipsticks too. But I promised not to buy eyehsadows this year (or at least not a lot, I just bought the new spring Bare Minerals Ready quad), maybe it will be a year of the lipsticks for me 🙂

I love the idea of 2013 being the year of lipsticks. Or how about the year of Chanel?!

That could ruin my wallet but considering how much I love my Chanel loose powder it just might be 🙂

I got the blush and liner from this collection. I am a liner fiend; and still a total newbie at applying it so I LIVE for thin/fine tip liners. However, it was a huge surprise to me, that the tip of the liner pen is easy to control despite its size. It covers a lot of ground in a shorter amount of time than a smaller tip and it’s not difficult to variate between drawing a thicker or thinner line. The liner also doesn’t skip, tug or dry out through the application process. For reference, I have Hourglass’ script liner, NARS stylo liner and Lancome’s Artliner, and this new Smashbox one is just as great (in terms of control/application).

      Hi Ashley,

Great to hear it works so well for you! If you haven’t tried it yet, grab LORAC’s Front of the Line Pro. It’s my favorite liquid liner and the easiest to use, IMHO.

Okay, at first, I wrote off the Admire Me palette cause I have the NAKED palette and just got The Vice palette. I wanted to get Entice Me but now!? That pink! So soft and sweet looking, loving the whole Admire me palette over the Entice Me palette.

Oh my, do you live near Novato too? That’s the Sephora store I frequent. I’ve seen that puppy before even! Isn’t he cute? I love this collection and am dying to get my hands on the lipsticks especially… now that you’ve confirmed they have it I’m heading over there after work!
