Well, Halo There, Megatint! Okay, That Was Just Ridiculous… Introducing Smashbox’s New Halo Long Wear Blushes and Megatint Long Wear Lip Colors

More new spring stuff from Smashbox! — a line of halo-inducing blushes (for angelic cheeks, perhaps?) and lipsticks.

These are the kinds of blushes where you twist and shave off what ya need. Little gimmicky, but I think it’s kinda fun.

When I swatched them, they seemed super sheer, so if you like the look of a lightly flushed cheek, or you just want something clutz-proof and easy, you might want to give ’em a try.

Smashbox also has a new line of long-wearing lipsticks called the Megatints, which sounds very Transformers, doesn’t it? I wonder if Megatron would like the Megatints…

Okay, I’ll stop.

They’re supposed to look like lipsticks and last like lip stains. At least that’s the schtick, but I don’t know — when I swatched them, a couple of the lipstick bullets crumbled right away…

They may have just been left out and dried up because they weren’t wearing their caps in the store. Hopefully that explains it.

When I swatched them, I kept thinking, “MAC Mattenes, MAC Mattenes,” because they kind of have that same smooth texture. I like the MAC Mattenes, so if these are like that, I’m on board, but the crumbly thing makes me a little nervous…

Karen

Interesting package concept with the blushes. I prefer a light touch with my blushes, so these may be right up my alley!

The megatints look gorgeous! The blush looks kinda daunting, but I imagine they are finely milled because of the grinder. 🙂

They blushes look interesting. I have pale skin so I prefer my blushes to be on sheer side. I think I may check them out…

Peachy Dream and Blissful have definitely caught my eye–they’re so sheer and pretty! I have always wanted to try those twist-n-shave powders anyway so these are definitely going on the list!

Yeah I hate it if lippies are too soft so that they just die inside their bullet, or if they just are so hard that they tug when they’re applied to your lips. A big no-no for me!

I love my Halo powder so I may have to try these. The only thing I dislike about the powder is that both times I’ve bought it the lid snaps off. I can put it back on it’s just not permanently attached anymore. Something to think about with the blushes as well.

Ooooh Peachy Dream goes right into my wishlist!! I like my blushes sheer so I’m fine with that!

The Megatints look pretty too, but they need more shades I think!

🙂 How cute would they look all lined up on a shelf? You’d have a little family of Halo blushes.

The blushes look great, esp Peachy Dream and In Bloom. Megatint in Punch would look good on my NC42 I think.

      Hi Chelsea,

Isn’t the sifting action fun? It kinda reminds me grating cheese. How long have you been wearing the Halo bronzer?

I do think the lipsticks are crumbly only due to not wearing their caps. 🙂 I tried one on the other day and it definitely stayed on for hours! It did feel a little dry on lips at first (again, maybe due to not having caps….I find that they long wear lipstick testers do dry out a lot more than their emollient friends). But from my own little experiment/wear test they did act like a stain. Mulberry is what I tried, and it’s very, very pretty on lips. Not so dark as it looks in the tube.
