Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche for the Bath? Yes, Please

February 11th, 2009 by Karen 31 Comments

Back in the 80s there were these “Calgon take me away” commercials with an overstressed lady who looked ready to pitch a fit.

As a kid, I didn’t understand those commercials — first, why the lady looked so stressed out, and then why she looked so happy in the bath.

But I get it now.

Lord, I get it now.

Enter Chanel’s new Chance Eau Fraiche Foaming Shower Gel ($47.50, 6.8-oz bottle) and Moisturizing Body Cream ($75, 7-oz. jar).

Both are inspired by Chanel’s Chance Eau Fraiche Perfume, a light citrusy floral with notes of lemon, jasmine and vetiver.

Getting ready for bed at the end of a bad day, these two little luxuries help to lift my spirits and push my cares away.

Eau Fraiche Foaming Shower Gel fills the tub with soothing bubbles and cleans from head to toe, adding light moisture to my perpetually parched skin. It’s definitely a splurge, but it’s a nice one, no doubt. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

Chance Eau Fraiche Body Cream feels thick and rich to the touch (not greasy), offering light moisturization without leaving a noticeable film. If you have alligator legs and feet like moi, you might need something a little heavier. While related to the Chance Eau Fraiche scent, this version of the fragrance smells a little more like oranges and jasmine to me (still lovely) and lasts for hours after the bath. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

Being Chanel, both products are on the expensive side, but if you’re in the mood for luxury and like citrusy scents like lemon, orange and grapefruit, you might give ’em a try.

Check out who got finally got his MAC Hello Kitty Lucky Tom palette in the mail today!

And now Tabs insists I call him by his new stage name, “Lucky Tom.”

He’s trippin’…

    Hi Karen!

Those looked lovely ’till I saw the price tag.

    DAYUMMM.

Any way I could take a great, soothing bath- without taking a bath in money?

    Soaps? Gels? Bubble Baths?

    Hi Leah,

Yeah, they are definitely a splurge. I figure, though, one could easily spend the same amount of money on a pampering treatment or two at the spa, and then it’s just a one shot deal. At least this way I could use the products over and over, and I could stretch it out if I want by just using them once a week.

I’m so glad the week is almost halfway over. I’m ready for Friday!

Speaking of CHANEL…I was wondering ’bout their cleansers? Could you give me some review on any of them (the hydrating one preferably)? Thanks. BTW I am envious of your bath time…

Tabs looks so happy! If only he could wear the make-up. I’m sure his mommy wants the nice expensive eyeshadow quad so she can use it!

He is very charming. Maybe you should do an FOTD inspired by Tabs?

Euck, have fun with the bath products! I’m highly allergic to perfume and fragrance. That’s definitely a Kate’s Do-NOT-Buy-And-Avoid-Like-the-Plague-Lest-She-Wants-A-Migraine-Or-Asthma-Attack List. That list contains many, many, many products.

    Hi Kate,

Sometimes I think he’s dipping into my MAC Blacktrack… his eyes always look so smokey and fierce! He inspired this FOTD a few months ago:

    Tabs Makeover!

I have a friend like you who is very sensitive to scents and smells. She loves her unscented body products, too. 🙂

Awww, Tabs’ heart tag accessorizes perfectly with HK! 😀

I would so take baths in Chanel, but it’s totally a “the perfect gift for the girl because she’d never buy it for herself” thing!

    Hi Leah!

I love baths, so I thought I’d chime in! There are some wonderful bath products that are less expensive, it’s mostly a matter of finding a scent you like!

Try Bath and Body Works for some less expensive options. Philosophy has their famous line of “3 in 1” bath/shower/shampoo in many scents at $16 for 16 oz or, for a splurge that’s still cheaper than Chanel, Bliss’ bath and shower gels are $24 for 8.4 oz and are very soothing and moisturizing (I am addicted to both the Vanilla Bergamot and Blood Orange & White Pepper scents)!

    Hey tabs is cute!

How old is he? I have 5 kittens and they are 9 months and I swear, they are still tiny! I can’t wait for them to grow big and strong like tabs but I am trying to figure out when that will be…aren’t they adults by 6 months?!

Nice! What color did you get in the foundation? I have tested a few this week: NC 30, NC35 and NW 35.

    Hi Rowena,

Tabs is three. 🙂 When he decided to adopt us a few months ago he displayed some playful kitten-ish behavior. Now he acts more like an adult kitty… all well behaved (ha!) and proper.

You are SO LUCKY to have a gang of cats! I am very jealous.

    Hi YadiQ,

Woo hoo! How exciting. Soon you will be all HK’d out. I suspect Diva might have her eye on your palettes, so keep them close!

I haven’t tried the regular Chance shower gel but I bet it’s lurvely.

    LOL LL COOL T

love it lol i have been on an ll cool j kick these days when people get on my case abt being a bit on the surly side i tell them “i represent queens and now i reside in bklyn!” playing off of his song lyric from doin it “I respresent Queens, she was raised out in Brooklyn” – ahhh i love me some LL
lol i am sure it doesnt seem funny but int he right context its hilarious cause i lived in queens ny all my life till i moved to bklyn a few years ago lol

yeah i caught diva trying to call tabs today apparently she tracked my mac package and found out that its delivering today – i think her and tabs are scheming a way for her to swipe my palettes lol

oh i need friday here i sound delusional maybe if i peek at some LL pics i will be a little more sane!

    Hi Karen,

Well I didn’t think of asking for multiple samples :/ and since I’ve never tried MAC foundation I just assumed I would be your shade, NC 35. So far I likee. It’s very easy to blend and feels very light. I really like how its not as messy as liquid when youre in a rush [like this morning] and have to put on your face with your bare hands 😛 . Next time I go back, I’ll probably test out NC 30 and 37 to see how it goes.

    Hi YadiQ,

I love that LL song… makes me think of all the random house parties I went to in the 90s. For some reason that song would *always* get played!

LOL, I think I saw Tabs trying to text Diva on his iPhone…

    Hi Stephie,

Glad to hear it’s working for you! The MAC foundations seem to vary according to the formulation. The NC 35 seems to be more yellow than the other ones I tried… I’m still deciding if it’s the right color for me. But I know that’s one of the reasons why many women with yellow undertones heart MAC! 🙂

I like the gel weight of it too. The only thing is that the coverage is much heavier than I originally thought it would be. It’s nice for pics, though, as it covers everything
