MAC Unsung Heroes: Ravishing Lipstick

February 8th, 2013 by Karen 31 Comments

MAC Ravishing Cremesheen Lipstick
MAC Ravishing Cremesheen Lipstick ($15), available now at MAC counters, stores and maccosmetics.com

When I slip into MAC’s creamy coral Ravishing Lipstick, winter disappears, and I’m suddenly back at the Japanese Tea Gardens in Golden Gate Park on a sunny spring day, watching cherry blossom petals flutter in the breeze…

Ravishing is the kind of fresh and flirty full-coverage coral I like to start wearing around this time of year, right when the weather just barely starts to turn (freak storms notwithstanding), and the sun rises a little earlier in the day.

There’s something carefree, but still a little semi-formal, about the plush, velvety Cremesheen finish that feels so totally right to me.

It’s most likely not the kind of coral you’d wear to vacation off the coast of Italy to frolic with Giovanni, the mysterious male model (and your summer fling) from Milan.

Nope. Ravishing is more innocent than that — think spring dresses, sandals and lightweight button-down cardigans, and Earl Grey tea in the afternoon, served on fine china tea cups with tiny cucumber sandwiches.

Ah…

I hope you give it a try this spring, and if you do, I think Ravishing looks ravishing with classic cat liner or shimmery jade green eye shadow.

Oh! And golds and teals. 🙂

And when summer rolls around, top it with your favorite shimmery coral gloss to turn up the heat.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Karen, you are radiant in these photos! What are you wearing on your face and eyes? Back to Ravishing — I think you may have tempted me to purchase my first lipstick. Gorgeous.

This is one of my favorite lipsticks, especially when my hair is red. It looks so fresh and pretty on you! I think I’ll wear it today and hopefully this snow will take a hint and melt.

Even with the 3377 coral lipsticks I own, I am still going to say: I think I need this one! What an easygoing, gorgeous coral! You look GOOD, girl!

On second thought, it looks like it will look great on all skin tones. What is the blush/highlighter here? It looks really pretty and natural.

This lipstick looks so good on you! I have it but can only wear it when I have a tan because it doesn’t look great on my pale skin 🙁

It looks gorgeous on you! I have it and it looks so much darker on me and leans more orange on me — but I can tone it down a bit with a gloss and it looks great.
Love the unsung heroes series 🙂

Gosh-i dream of the day i would go makeup shopping with YOU! <3 First Skinny jeans and now Ravishing! You are beyond fantastic, girl!

ON a ranting note…my local Sephora seems like way behind times…they had no clue what Ambient Light powders were :(. I've been waiting to try 'em after reading your review. Makeup Gods please smile :).

Have a sweet Caturday (and give kisses to Tabs for me).

Oooooh I’ve been eyeing this color for quite some time! Now that San Diego weather seems to be stabilizing (sort of), this would be an absolutely lovely color to welcome the Spring season 🙂 I’m planning on crocheting a cute, yellow beanie for a new Spring accessory, too!

P.S. Officially visiting San Francisco the end of the month (Yay!!!) but only for 3 days (Boo!!). Once I hear back about transportation scheduling, I’m hoping to factor in some free time! :3
