14 More Reasons to Carry a Bigger Makeup Bag: The 14 New, Single-Swipe Creme Smooth Lip Colours From Laura Mercier

Wearing the new $26 Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Belize, one of 14 new spring shades available now at Laura Mercier counters and online

There are some things I don’t mind doing over and over again…

Like hitting the rewind button during that part in Magic Mike when Channing Tatum dances to Pony. Or listening to this song by Flesh for Lulu from the Some Kind of Wonderful soundtrack which, I kid you not, I’ve listened to at least 47 times over the past two days.

(Anyone else out there ever wish they lived in a John Hughes ’80s teen film world? Anyone? Bueller?)

But applying coat after coat of a lipstick in the quest of full coverage color is NOT one of those things.

Maaaan, no can do. Give me a one-swipe lipstick, like any of the 14 new $26 Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colours, any old day.

Four of the 14 new Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colours from the left: Belize, Fresh Raspberry, Hollywood and Maya ($26 each)

I try to stay busy, try to get things done, but I’m definitely part lazy at heart, and it’s that part of me that really likes Laura’s Creme Smooth Lip Colours.

These corals, pinks, reds and berries make it easy to turn up the volume of your look; one layer applied straight from the tube turns the dial to 10. All of a sudden, that girl sitting over there? — the one whose sweats are covered in cat hair? Now she’s also stylish. Now she’s the stylish girl wearing sweats that are covered in cat hair.

LOL!

These 14 new shades contain just as much awesome sauce as the 18 existing ones that catapulted into the permanent line last fall. Same unscented, unflavored formula, moderately shiny finish and 5-6 hour wear time, and now they, too, are permanent, so even if you can’t make it to the mall today, no worries. These aren’t going anywhere for a while.

Perfect! — because now we don’t have to rush. We can plant our butts on the couch and watch Magic Mike one more time. 🙂

When we do make it to the counter, however, I hope you check coral Belize, bright mauve Fresh Raspberry, red Hollywood and orangey red Maya. They’re my favorites among the new shades. They light up faces faster than you can say, “Make it rain, Channing Tatum! Make it rain!!”

      Hi Susan,

It’s a really great song. It totally reminds me of listening to the Some Kind of Wonderful soundtrack with my college roommate, Shelley. 🙂

So, lip colors. Please tell me you’ve tried this line of lippies from Laura!

Belize! Come to mama! I love this lipstick formula, and I’m so happy Laura Mercier is releasing more. Must-have!

BTW, off topic but your hair is looking fabulous lately. And you are positively glowing. Meeyow, cat mama!

      Hi Arianne,

Me too! These lipsticks are great. Did you ever pick up the red shade from the Art Deco collection? SO GOOD. Meow worthy, even.

      Love to my kitty niece!

GASP! Maya is your kind of red. You look great 🙂

I’m actually on an (off-season?) purple lip kick right now… I wish more make-up lines had purple options…

Wow, those colors are all beautiful, but I am digging Hollywood in particular.
And yes, I yearn to live in the simple, innocent times of a John Hughes film. No smartphones, internet connections, just wasting my days lusting after Matt Dillon or Emilio Estevez!

Don’t forget Michael J. Fox. I had a serious crush on him after Back to the Future. 😀

My week has been really uneventful. Zumba classes would be the highlight! I can’t say I am excited for Friday because weekends are the most stressful at work and I work stupid early hours…but hopefully I will get to see my friends and do something fun.

Wow, love those Laura Mercier lipstick shades! Now I wish I had seen them @ Sephora rather than the amethyst eyeshadow that I bought (tho it’s nice too lol)! And thanks for the memories: Breakfast Club forever 😉

I love love love lipsticks, the brighter and more pigmented the better! I was never a fan of those sheer lip-balmy like lipsicks. These sound awesome. I love all the ones you’ve swatched but Palm Beach and Strawberry Sorbet will have to be mine.

I happened to be in your beautiful city last week (for the first time!) and the lovely artist at the LM counter in Bloomingdale’s tried one of these on me. Sold! My first LM purchase and I love it. Believe it was Belize.

Karen I need your help, I hope you’ll see this message!! I want to order Belize but I’m having a hard time trying to figure out if it’s darker than Too Faced Juicy Melon? I want something darker. Also I see tiny sparkles in it, do they migrate around the lips when the colour wear off? Thank you! 🙂
