Forget Milkshakes, theBalm’s Cabana Boy Blush Brings All the Boys to the Yard

March 15th, 2013 by Karen 19 Comments

That’s theBalm Cabana Boy Blush ($21) on my cheeks

Once I babysat this adorable little girl who somehow knew the lyrics to that Kelis song, Milkshake…and she also took them to heart.

She believed that milkshakes would literally bring all the boys to the yard, and since she also believed that all boys were yucky, she swore to never have a milkshake.

Hahaha! From the mouths of babes… 🙂

That’s what I thought of this morning when I pulled out theBalm’s new $21 Cabana Boy Blush. Like the milkshake of the makeup world, it’s also supposed to bring all the boys to the yard.

In a manner of speaking. theBalm claims that this pigmented, warm rosy pink, with its hint of plum, will have the boys (or girls) attending to your every whim.

After a week or so wearing it off and on, I’m still waiting on Ryan Gosling’s offer to braid my hair and carry my purse. 🙂

But the other men in my life do seem more attentive…

I was wearing Cabana Boy on my cheeks the other day when El Hub said that he liked my makeup (please note: once it took this man two weeks to notice that I’d dyed my hair pink), and Tabs hasn’t voiced any concerns.

It has a warmth to it that I like, but I think the plummy tones also make it wearable for cool-toned gals.

Another plus: it lasts through the day. No touchup necessary.

I’d call it darned near perfect if it were a little easier to blend into my bronzer and foundation. Just takes a couple extra swipes.

Oh, and perhaps because of how much pigment it contains, it can emphasize any flaky parts, so use a light touch if you have extra dry skin.

PRICE: $21 for a 0.3-ounce pan
AVAILABILITY: Available now at theBalm counters and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+

Oh, I’ve been wondering about that one. Do you need to apply it with a fan brush because it’s so pigmented?

BTW, congrats to your fiance on his new job! That’s awesome. 🙂

The day you find the product that bring Ryan Gosling to your feet begging to “braid your hair and hold your purse” is the day you become my new best friend! Holla!!(Sorry Hubby!)

That blush is so flattering on your skin tone. I’m really loving it! I also like that it’s well pigmented. Sheer blushes are kinda pointless on darker skin tones IMO.

Ooooh, Ryan! (Although, I would take the Reynolds over the Gosling. Yuuummy!)

      Hi Khalia!

When it happens (it’s only a matter of time), of course you’re welcome to come over and hang with me and Ryan, hahaha!

I haven’t used Balm blush, but Cabana Boy seem to be really pretty. I like blushes with plummy undertones.

It sure looks flattering on you.

Gorgeous, Karen!! I love the plummy tones in this one — fingers crossed they’ll mean I can still wear it despite the warmth 🙂 I have a couple theBalm products that I’m rather devoted to (read: I am a Time Balm *fiend*), but I’ve yet to try their blushers… maybe now’s the time!

I flippin’ adore this shade. It’s fun to mix with Down Boy for a super cute spring color. I love seeing the warm weather outfits in your pictures. Spring is here! Spring is here!!!

    Not related to the blush…
But I love that shirt. I’ve seen you wear it before. Where is it from?

This seems like a pinkier version of Benefit’s Dallas, which I have been wanting for FOREVER. I think this may be more wearable and more blush-esque though–definitely wanna check it out!

Would you say this was the matte version or similar to Urban Decay’s Afterglow Blush in Rapture? 🙂
