Estee Lauder Orchid Garden Blooms With Soft Pastels

February 21st, 2009 by Karen 25 Comments

estee lauder orchid garden collection

Once upon a time I was *this close* to majoring in botany in college. I really dig plants (oh, girl, don’t get me started on carbon fixation!), so makeup heavily influenced or inspired by flowers or plants, like Estee Lauder’s new Orchid Garden Collection, makes the wanna-be botanist in me weak in the knees.

Purples, pinks and peach grace the Orchid Garden Collection. Nordie’s has it listed as a summer 2009 release, but they already have at least some of the individual items from the collection available for sale online.

I’m thinking the Orchid Garden Signature Eyeshadow Quad ($35), with four colors in matte and pearl textures, looks promising. What do you think of the floral pattern on the pan and the purple and green shadow colors? I hope the pastels won’t look too chalky on me (*crosses fingers*).

Or how about Vivid Garden Illuminating Powder ($32), a multi-shade, shimmery pink and gold highlighter for eyes, cheeks and decolletage? Can you spot the dragonfly?

And I’m looking forward to Pure Color Illuminating Gloss in Peach Blossom ($18), a shimmery peach lipgloss.

I can’t want to see the collection in person. I fell hard for Estee’s Fuchsia Now collection for spring. I’ve got high hopes for Orchid Garden.

A quiet night at home

Hey, ladies. WHOA! It feels like I just woke up… and now it’s dark. I haven’t been sleeping well, so I’m keeping it low key tonight. I rented The Secret Life of Bees and plan to just turn in early.

What have you been up to this weekend? Got any big plans for tonight?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Oh, I was just checking Nordstrom.com and spotted this super cute Platinum Pink Shimmerbrick ($40) by Bobbi Brown.

It comes with five shades — a shimmery soft pink, a platinum, a bright pink, golden coral and rose. Coral and rose? I’m so there!

Wow. Pretty! The eyeshadow quad reminds me a lot of the guerlain ones…I always wanted to buy them as they are soooo pretty but could never justify the associated price tag!!

By the way really loving the new look for the website! I believe it actually loads up faster on my phone as well this way.

By the way I’m surprised you haven’t done reviews of the oscillating mascaras…or did I miss them? X

      Hi Jian,

Oh, good observation. I haven’t tried the Guerlain quads, but they sure look pretty. It would probably kill me a little inside to mess up the patterns on the shadows.

I never ending up trying the Oscillating mascaras because honestly they scare the heck out of me. I am naturally not coordinated so anything that goes near my eyes can’t involve heat or movement! 🙂

I hope you’re having a good weekend so far. Doing anything fun?

      Hi Victoria,

It’s sooo cute in pictures, I agree! I can’t wait to see it in person. I really like the Estee shadow finishes so I hope this delivers. 🙂

      Have a good night!

I had a huge night tonight! The second performance of my play… We got standing ovations and bawlers in the audience. I think I should reward myself with some makeup.

      Hi Leah,

Congrats on your performance! It sounds like it went really well! How many more performances do you have, and what play are you doing?

Oh, and I think you should reward yourself with some makeup, too. 😉

Looks very pretty but also very pastel. I don’t know, I’m not feeling the pastels for spring/summer this year.

      Hi Karen B.,

I like pastels of they aren’t *too* frosty.

I can’t wait for all the summer to roll in. Bring on the corals!

Oh wow – these are soooo pretty! I love orchids… I’m not sure I can justify buying more eyeshadows for a while, but the compact is gorgeous and the packaging on that lip gloss is just killing me, lol. So pretty!

      Hi Catherine,

Me too! My parents are orchid enthusiasts, so this collection kinda makes me think of them. 🙂 But yeah, it’s so pretty! I want, I want!

Wow that compact is gorgeous! Is EL the brand that made last years (Fall I believe) compact with an elephant in it? That one was stunning as well. I’d probably want to buy this just because I’ d like to look at it 🙂

      Hi Michelle,

That was Lancome! I didn’t end up getting that one… I believe at the time I was overstimulated with MAC stuff, LOL!

But yeah, this powder looks PRETTY!

Oh Lancome, that’s right. I reallly wish I had gotten that one, I’m a sucker for artsy looking powder compacts. I may have to get this one so I don’t regret missing out again 🙂 The only one I got last year was one by The Body Shop, I think it was called blushing daisies. It’s such a pretty pink as well as a cutesy design.

Don’t post often, but just wanted to say I’m OBSESSED with your blog; it’s now my fave beauty blog. And I want to smooch tabs until his head pops off…I mean that in the most loving of ways. I have a cat named Willy who I adore!
    Hope your weekend was good!

Oh, Tabs is always looking for cats to party with, if Willy is interested.
