The NARS Pierre Hardy Nail Duos Pump Up the Pigment

April 16th, 2013 by Karen 14 Comments

NARS Pierre Hardy Nail Polish Duos

If I ever procure my dream shoe closet (one so vast that you can’t see how far back it goes, and the walls are lined with shelf upon shelf of heels from floor to ceiling), it’ll have one entire row dedicated to the six new Pierre Hardy for NARS Nail Duos.

A collaboration with famed French footwear and accessories designer Pierre Hardy, the new limited edition summer line, inspired by high heels, pits six pairs of polishes together like shoes.

Note: you do not have to wear heels to strut your stuff in these six $29 duos (but you might want to anyway). Your toes would look just as cute if you wore them in flip-flips. 🙂

I’ve never put on a pair of Pierre Hardy shoes, but based on the nail polishes and blushes in his collection with NARS, I want to.

Apparently, homeboy likes pigment! — because NARS pumped a ton of it into these polishes, and with the exception of the light yellow shade, Sharks Left, they deliver pretty good coverage from one or two layers.

To keep the fairly thick formula, which dries to high gloss finish in less than 10 minutes, from getting gooey on my nails, I empty as much as I can first from the brush before applying.

NARS Pierre Hardy Venemous Nail Polish Duo
NARS Pierre Hardy Venemous Nail Polish Duo: Venemous Right (a creamy black) and Venemous Left (a shimmery silver), and yes, that is how “Venemous” is spelled on these bottles and on the back of the box, and according to NARS, that’s correct

Since I usually like to wear something different on my fingers and toes, I like this idea. You get a polish for your fingers and a polish for your toes, and the duos are also a pretty good deal, considering that NARS normally sells similar full-size 0.5-ounce bottles for $19 each (these are $29 per pair).

I can’t see myself ever getting tired of the Sharplines, Venemous (is that a typo?) and Ethno Run duos. The way the lighter colors contrast with the darker shades? I love that. The pairings could also make for some interesting nail art.

PRICE: $29 per duo, each with two full-sized 0.5-ounce bottles
AVAILABILITY: Available now online and at NARS counters
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

Vroooom!

Wow, did you see that!? That was the day. It just flew by… 🙂

What are ya up to tonight? I’m just taking it easy here, having a salad for dinner, finishing the last half of Defiance and then The Mindy Project after that.

It’s a TV night.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Agata,

I like that one too. How about the coral on fingers and the tan on toes? 🙂

The yellow wedges are by Seychelles! I love them but I can’t wear them for long because they’re so high.

Did you guys get the car?

I used to have a similar pair of yellow wedges. They were super cute and comfy. And yes, we did get the car. It is awesome 🙂

Well, if I was forced to pick, you know how I am about corals, so I guess I’d go with Vertebra.

Ha! That would be my choice too. Great minds think alike. 🙂

Did you watch The Voice tonight?

Oh wow, I LOVE these photos, Karen! What cute shoes you have 🙂 I’m a bit on the fence with these because while there could be one shade I really like in the duo, I’m usually a bit meh about the other.

You could always keep one for yourself and gift the other to a friend. They’re a great deal!

I really like the color combinations here and thought exactly the same thing as you about “one for fingers and one for toes”. 🙂

The only thing I’m not crazy about is the thick texture you described. I definitely prefer thinner, faster drying formulas. Still, these are some really beautiful colors! 🙂

I saw the ads for Defiance. Are you liking it? One of my friends has been watching Top of the Lake on Sundance and she said it’s quite good. I want to check that out, too.

      Hey Kim,

It’s like NARS was thinking of gals like us when they created the pairings. Anytime a product makes something easier I”m in!

So, Defiance. It’s taking me DAYS to watch the first episode. I guess it’s okay…I’m still waiting for that moment when the show sucks me in and won’t let go.

Thanks for the Top of the Lake rec. I’ll add that to my list.

Um, and is it Friday yet?!

Oh, no! So, not yet a ringing endorsement for Defiance. HAHA! I haven’t watched Top yet either because I’m still working through (now season 4) of Breaking Bad. I think I need a break from that, though.

Gosh, no kidding. Sort of a long, trying week so far. The boys started lacrosse this week so, between that and hockey, we only have Friday evenings off this month. Sigh. But, on a brighter note: One more day. We can do it!! 🙂

I like these and love your pictures. $29 for two polishes isn’t entirely bad.

Oooooh I love the vertebra duo! Although I think the tan looks better on you than it would on me. I just got home from my trip and hitting the sack soon!
