A Righteous Rhapsody in Blue: Chanel’s New Bleu Le Volume De Chanel Mascara

April 17th, 2013 by Karen 34 Comments

Chanel Bleu Le Volume De Chanel Mascara
I’ve got the blues… The Chanel Bleu Le Volume De Chanel Mascara blues…

Blue mascaras usually give me the blues…

Buuuuut, not in the good way.

You know how many times I’ve started out marveling at an intense sapphire on a mascara wand only to get it on my lashes and think, “Um…is that it? It’s not even blue. And where’s the length and thickness?”

Now, Chanel’s new Bleu Le Volume De Chanel Mascara is having none of that. This $30 delphinium is blue perfection in tube, and I think it’s a worthy addition to your fashion-forward wardrobe this spring.

Chanel Bleu Le Volume De Chanel Mascara wand
Just look at that magic wand…

It looks lovely standing next to the original Le Volume De Chanel, also known as “The Best Darned High-End Mascara This Side of the Rockies!” Also known as “lash crack!”

A great option for when you feel like mixing things up a little, or just want to wear a conversation starter…like a flashy cocktail ring or that tattoo of “Mrs. Christian Bale” across my left boob.

Ha. Kidding (or was I?).

Like the original Le Volume, Bleu does it all — lengthening, separating, thickening and holding a curl. It even makes it through the entire day without leaving behind a trail of flakes or smudges on my lower lash lines.

But even more important than all that, I can see the blue!

Those crazy cats at Chanel sure know how to do sophisticated blues. They’re always rolling out elegant, colorful blue eye makeup that works.

Sexy alien blue lashes, these are not. If you’re shopping for blue lashes that are visible from five galaxies away, you may have to keep searching…

Say you’re out on a date with your companion about an arm’s length away. They’ll just see quick flashes of blue as you answer, “How was your day?” or, “How did you refrain from shanking your boss?”

As the conversation continues, with you holding eye contact the entire time, your date moves in for a kiss, and that’s when they get a really good look at the fluttering blue on your lashes.

I absolutely love you, Chanel Bleu.

Lazy girl lunch tip #23421

The Trader Joe’s Balela Salad (lives over in the section with the pre-made salads). Served with TJ’s delicioso pita chips.

The salad has garbanzo beans, tomatoes, black beans, onions and spices and only 180 calories per serving (about half a cup).

I like to just scoop it out with the chips or maybe have it with a small side salad.

Tasty and filling, too. Go get some now!

Karen

$30 is too much for me and mascara. Oh, forget that. It looks like you’re wearing falsies in the last picture!

My normal mascara is Inimitable Intense, but this looks gorgeous on you! Le Volume is too much for everyday for me!

      Hi Chelsea,

I like that one too. I wore it religiously for months a few years ago. Have you had the chance to see the new Glossimers? They’re SO pretty.

Haven’t gone to look! I rarely wear gloss, but their glosses are definitely pretty! I’ve been thinking about getting the Inimitable Intense in one of the colors though. I have a pair of eyeglasses I’ve been eyeing that are a gorgeous green color, so I’m thinking plum mascara might look nice with that.

I’m applying for new/better jobs, so once I get one I plan on treating myself to some new stuff.

That first photo (the macro) is by far the coolest thing. Nice job!

(Forgot to comment on the mascara!) I always wish blue mascaras were brighter on my dark lashes. I’ve scoped out the new CK One Electric Blue from Ulta, but haven’t tried it on. Here’s hoping!

I have this one and love it too! It’s really just the right amount of color for me. It’s not so subtle that you can’t see it, but it’s not so out there that it’s not wearable either!

I’m okay with not wearable, LOL! But it’s also nice to have a work-friendly blue option, too.

It reminds me about a character with golden shimmery eye liner in Hunger Game. Blue mascara is incredible to show personality.

I took that with 50mm Canon lens, the nifty fifty.

I’m not too experimental with mascara color. I usually stick to blacks. I did, however try a blue mascara & it looks great in summers with minimal makeup. 🙂

While I haven’t been wild for blue mascara since the 9th grade (hee hee), Chanel Le Volume is definitely on my list of must-try items. It makes me sad that Sephora only carries Chanel fragrance. Normally my wallet would be thankful but, if I’m going to splurge on mascara anyway… 🙂

I think a long time ago, Sephora used to carry Chanel in-store. I remember going to the one in Downtown Disneyland and being really surprised to see Chanel makeup. They also carried Paul & Joe, too! Is it just me, or is Sephora skewing toward the younger set these days?

They definitely seem Hello Kitty obsessed. HAHA! I thought it might be a price point thing but they do carry Dior. If they still had Chanel, I’d be looking at Le Volume in my makeup drawer by now. And I’m still trying to forget about Daydream. 😉

Right? And obsessed with Disney Princesses!

I vote that the boys and your hub treat you to Chanel for Mother’s Day. Maybe send them a gentle reminder? I’m trying to hint to Tabs that he can get me a Glossimer or two, but I don’t know if he’ll be able to put two and two together. He’s not a kitty rocket scientist, if you know what i mean.

That’s a fab idea! Of course, in our house, it will be me ordering it and then being like “Hey! Look what you got me!”. HAHA! The Hubs will be out of town for M’s day so that’s worth some Chanel, right? 🙂

Well, you know Tabs has other mad skillz. Have you asked him if being a bit slow on the uptake has anything to do with late night kitty model partying in his youth? It’ll probably come out in the biography… 🙂
