How Often Do You Change Your Nail Polish?

May 8th, 2013 by Karen 47 Comments

Dolce Gabbana Gentle Nail Lacquer
Two coats of the new Dolce Gabbana Gentle Nail Lacquer ($24) from the new True Monica collection, available now at Dolce & Gabbana counters and online

Weekly? Bi-weekly? Umm…daily?

Big surprise! — I go through phases. Sometimes more often, sometimes less. Generally, though, I’ll change my fingers once a week, occasionally upping that to every other day, or daily, depending on flights of fancy and/or seasonal release schedules.

As for my toes, once a week. Sometimes two.

So many nail polishes, so little time! 😀

How about you? How often do you change your nail polish?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Before I was introduced to gel nail polish, EVERY DAY! And, that is because I despise wearing chipped polish. Now, I am using Mally Beauty Gel Nail Polish System once a forte night. Can you beat that?

That’s really cool. I want to try that someday, maybe when I go on vacation and don’t need to swatch so much! How long have you been using it?

I have been using it about five months. It has changed my feelings toward nail polish. It really dragged me down when I had to remove and re-polish my nails so often. There are so many color choices with gel polish that I don’t feel that I am missing out.

I change my nail polish ususally once a week! I’m pretty lazy with my toenails, I only do those maybe every two weeks? If I get a new polish I love I may do them more often though.

WOW–once a day?? That’s a LOT! 😛 haha! I could never do that. It’s also the reason I don’t like to do many nail polish reviews–because it takes me SO long to paint my nails! I am not naturally a neat nail-painter so I like to really take my time. Granted, most of the 2 1/2 hours or so that it takes me is me spent trimming the nails, cleaning, filing, shaping, etc. but still. I limit myself to one mani a week 🙂

I’m the only beauty junkie who likes having bare nails! I feel really weird having my fingernails painted.

Toes are done once every other week or so, polish seems to last well. I almost always pick the same color though!

I remember you mentioning that once! What’s the color you usually wear on your toes? I’ve had a coral Chanel shade on for the last few days (Lilis from the summer collection…did you end up getting anything?) and now I’m ready to change it, LOL!

It’s a LE Revlon color from 2011 called “Watermelon Fizz” – it’s kind of a watermelony/candy apple red with microglitter, kind of a jelly finish. I have a backup bottle because it’s limited edition!

OH YEAH. It sounds almost like a Lippmann color! And almost good enough to eat.

I thought of you today because I was at DSW looking at flats…I’m determined to find a pair that I like.

I’ve been trying to wear practical shoes because I walk to a lot of places now that it’s warm. Also, I’ve seen the feet of my two professors who wore heels all their lives. It ain’t pretty.

Every 5-7 days or as soon as I get bored with the color. 🙂 For toes up to 2 weeks so I usually pick neutral colors for pedicures.

I change my nail polish once a week. But considering how many bottles of nail polish I have, I should change it more often. I just don’t have time for that.

    How was Sephora browsing?

      Hi Agata,

I wish I had more time…popped in, popped out. I did make time to swatch a new palette from Too Faced! I’ll have the pics up in a few.

I saw that palette on the website. It looks great. You didn’t buy anything?

Shopping was good. Got some Redken stuff and Moroccan Oil products, I have never tried them before. I got 2 new nail polishes from the neon Essie collection.

I was supposed to go in and stock up on a few things (moisturizer, concealer), but I spent too much time at DSW and only had a few minutes, plus I didn’t want to wait in line. I guess I just have to go back. 😀

A stylist used Moroccan Oil on me once and I remember liking the scent. Which Redken line did you get? I used All Soft years ago…it rescued my hair when it was a fried mess!

I Got a Redken Color Extend shampoo that is a repurchase actually and a new Diamond Oil conditioner. And from Moroccan Oil I got a heat protective spray and a volumizing mousse.

Any excuse to go back to Sephora is good 🙂

I shoot for weekly but laziness/business rounds it out to 1-2x a month. I usually try to do it right before I have a big-wig meeting with the higher ups or an event. I also have collected quite a bit of nail polish and try to give them fair usage.

I went through a phase where I painted my nails multiple times a day… I had a lot of time on my hands!
Lately it’s been every couple days, depending on whether or not I get bored with the color. And I always change my color the MINUTE it chips… chipped nails drive me crazy!
I get pedicures every two weeks like clockwork. I can’t handle any more time between pedis.

I have a HUGE weakness for nail polish and lip gloss… Have to go get the new Chanel and Dior colors for the Summer. The new YSL colors also look lovely. Usually I change my nail polish twice a week. Unless I am on a lazy day or days and just use my Dior Nail glow as raspberry transparent base. It reacts with my skin and creates its own color. I really enjoy it and is very low maintenance and dries fast and makes nais look really pretty.

I change my nail varnish whenever I get bored of the colour that I have on which usually ends up being every two days 🙂 With so little time between changing my nail varnish, I never have to worry about it chipping while I’m out & about!

I generally change my polish twice a week…could be more if I end up buying something new! LOL Currently I’m wearing BB Pink Pearl and before that it was L’Oreal’s “Lilac Coolers” (jelly). I may do a 3rd change as I am itching to pick up the new Essie “Bottle Service” from the Summer collection.

My fingernails, I give myself a manicure every three days, but I’m taking a little break from polish right now. My toes, I don’t normally paint because I wear sneakers most of the time, but it’s going to be Summer, so I’ll probably start painting them once a week or so.

hmmm…. love this Tom Ford shade. Looking forward to seeing swatches.

Nails get changed often, because I get bored with color or because I use nail painting to chill-ax when stressed out. Or sometimes because I found a new color(just got some LE Designer Sally Hansen Complete colors at my Walgreens- on the hunt for more!) And now that I have discovered the my HG nail color remover, Zoya remove+, I can swatch and remove to my heart’s content without drying out my cuticles. This stuff is miraculous- I just bought a gigantic bottle of it, and a little goes a long way. Never want to be without it.

Toes don’t get redone often maybe every 2-3 weeks. too labor intensive, and I despise getting my toe polish messed up when I put on shoes. If I lived in flip-flop weather, it might be more often.
