What Are You Wearing On Your Nails?

May 14th, 2013 by Karen 50 Comments

Tom Ford Beauty Vapor Nail Lacquer
Tom Ford Beauty Vapor Nail Lacquer, $30

I’m wearing two coats of Tom’s new semi-opaque shimmery white Vapor Nail Lacquer ($30) from the summer 2013 collection.

The color, I feel just so-so about, but I love the brush, which just lays down the color so smoothly, and the sleek formula.

Not bad wear time, either. I’m on my fourth day so far, and I’m just beginning to notice a couple of tiny cracks forming around the edges, and that’s without a base or top coat.

How about you? What are you wearing on your nails?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

That looks very pretty. I am wearing Essie Bottle Service from the Neon 2013 collection with a coat of OPI Polka.com glittery top coat.

Did you guys ever get to watch The Great Gastby this weekend? I still haven’t gotten the chance.

Thanks, I just posted a pic of my mani on FB 🙂 No, I haven’t seen it yet cause my husband is lame. I am hoping to see it tomorrow with my friend. If not, I am going to see it by myself on Friday 🙂

Haha, so is mine. I think he’s purposefully trying to avoid watching it. I was thinking of doing the same thing (watching it by myself) on Friday, how funny! I wish you lived closer, then we could go.

That color is something my mom would really love. 🙂 As for me, I’m wearing Pretty Serious’ BSOD. It’s this gorgeous blue jelly that’s packed full of blue glitter. 😀

Horrifyingly enough, I’ve got no nail polish on my nails! I wore Zoya’s Sookie (bright! cheerful! summer red!) for a week and a half, refusing to change colors until I finished painting our den (little flicks of the wall paint kept getting on my nails anyhow – so why bother?). Yesterday, I couldn’t take it anymore and took the polish off, but had no time to repaint my nails. Tonight I’ll have time – I think I’ll go with China Glaze’s First Mate color this time.

2 colors by Benjamin Moore paints: granite and hawthorne yellow. I wouldn’t go with the granite for my bedroom, but the hawthorne yellow would be very pretty for a bedroom – maybe with a nice cream color for the window sills.

    That’s a lovely color on you! 🙂

Right now, I’m wearing Essie’s French Affair from one of their past spring collections. It’s lasted for about 8 days already with only slight chipping at the edges. I found that if you paint a top coat every 2 days, it really helps keep your manicure for longer.

I am not wearing anything right now (well, not on my nails, that is, before you get the wrong impression). I took off my nail polish this afternoon. I was wearing Revlon’s new Gray Suede nail enamel, a pretty beige nude.

I’m wearing OPI Gel in Cajun Shrimp. It’s a bright red with a bit of orange in it. I hardly ever wear anything other than gel because regular polish just doesn’t last long enough on me for it to be worth it. I have to go to salons for my manicures because I’m so bad at painting my right hand with my left. 🙁 This means more often than not, my nails are bare. But my graduation from law school was a special occasion I thought deserved a manicure even if it cost me $30!

I am wearing Essie Buy me a cameo on my fingernails. I normally only get a few days wear out of any brand but I found this stuff at WalMart the other day called Nail-Aid 3 minute artificials and I used it as a base and top coat,my nails look really good, going on 6 days now.

I almost never wear polish on my fingers any more–I’m just too rough on them (boo). My toes are another story, though… I feel as naked if my toes aren’t painted as I would without makeup, LOL. All last month (and with only ONE touch-up, Holy Cow!) I rocked Essie’s Play Date (a *gorgeous* medium lavender, and the only lavender shade that’s EVER looked good on my cool, uber-pale skin), and right now they’re sporting Essie’s Mojito Madness (a cool-toned jade green).

This week I’m wearing Nicole by OPI’s Nothing Kim-pares to Blue, a beautiful dusty faded denim type color. While it horrifies me that it’s a part of the Kardashian collection, I just think of the name and how it relates to the Sinead O’Connor song, which was written by Prince, and then I feel much better, and cooler!

I am wearing CoverGirl Outlast nail polish (first time trying this line- liking it so far!) in Mint Mojito on my fingers. It is sooo not a green like the name implies, but a great turquoise. Looks good on my fair skin and blue nails make me happy. I have absolutely no real idea what’s on my toes. It’s an orangey-coral and I think maybe it’s a Sonia Kashuk polish?? I am embarrassed by how many polishes I have and probably 10-12 of them are corals! It’s a fave of mine for spring and summer. Changing to a bright summery pink tomorrow (toes) 🙂

I have on China Glaze Smoke and Ashes, a dark green glass-fleck shimmer, with a coat of green and blue color shift flakies by Sinful Colors in Green Ocean over the top for some flash. I hope it holds up for another few days as I’m going on a two-week solo road trip tomorrow and I won’t have the chance to change it until Monday!

This seriously reminds me of OPI Kyoto Pearl which I own. I guess if I am going to dish out TF money I expect more. I layer Kyoto Pearl over dark creamy shades to give some contrast and some odd version of depth.

I must say I never thought of buying a 8dlls nail polish! In my opinion lately the beauty industry has raised prices a lot! Because of the masive demand! But this brand worths every cent! Non Toxic it’s the best! 😉

Hmmm…. this Tom Ford polish has been getting sort of poor reviews. Too bad since a white nail is very on-trend for summer. I really want to try a Tom Ford polish- I should have paid attention when Burnt Topaz LE came out last spring- that color is so me. Viper looks nice, too.

Today I practiced chevron moon free-hand – skills are getting better- with Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised on top of a base of Sally Hansen Complete in Soy Latte- gorgeous camel color. Pretty happy with result. Time to topcoat!

I think maybe people are cranky about its sheerness. It’s supposed to be semi-opaque, so if you don’t like sheer, well…
