Dolce & Gabbana’s Three New Voluptuous Lipsticks Are Gentle, True and Nude

May 16th, 2013 by Karen 25 Comments

Wearing Dolce & Gabbana’s Voluptuous Lipstick in Gentle Monica 70, one of three new shades in the True Monica collection

My favorite thing about the three new Dolce & Gabbana Voluptuous Lipsticks in the True Monica collection? That even if you’re clad in frayed sweatpants and a t-shirt peppered with holes, and your hair passed the point when it probably should’ve been washed THREE DAYS AGO, and there are still sticky boogers all up in your eyes because you decided not to wash your face this morning…you’ll still feel like a seductive Italian screen siren wearing one of them, pouty lips and all.

Clockwise from the left: Nude Monica 20, True Monica 40 and Gentle Monica 70

The three $33 lipsticks, each of them inspired by Italian actress/model/all-around hot babe Monica Bellucci, whom you might remember from The Matrix Reloaded, or more recently from The Whistleblower with Rachel Weisz, and one of her signature makeup looks with smokey eyes and nude-toned, full lips.

For the all important question: “Which of these warm, creamy lip colors would I wear to jury duty or the DMV?”

The answer: “Any of them.” 🙂 Creamy beige Nude Monica, pinkish beige True Monica or pale rose Gentle Monica.

But why stop at the courthouse? Slip one on anytime you want to stop traffic, perhaps with your hair down, a pair of femme fatale high heels and a body-con dress.

They have a classic rose lipstick flavor and scent, a smooth formula rich in pigment, a slight sheen and last about 2-3 hours for me. Wear ’em alone — they like smokey eyes — or with something like a sheer golden gloss on top (love the way MAC Nice Buzz Plushglass looks with these).

PRICE: $33 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Dolce & Gabbana counters and online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (Luxe deluxe! — but I wish they lasted a little longer)

Another reason I dig Dolce & Gabbana…

Can I get a what-what if you also love Light Blue??

I’ve got a soft spot for it because it’s what I wore on my wedding day. 🙂 One of my favorite Dolce & Gabbana scents of all time. One of many (those Italians! — they sure get me when it comes to fragrances).

The line is prepping a new campaign for the scent this July. This sneak peak behind the scenes left me longing for the ocean and Italy… And the ocean off the coast of Italy.

Please tell me you had a wonderful Thursday. Actually, you can tell me either way, but I hope it went well.

Ready or not, Friday, here we come!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Xuvious,

      Thank you!

Gentle Monica is a lovely color and my fave out of the three. 🙂 You can’t go wrong with a perfect pink nude lipstick.

Light Blue is one of my favorite perfumes on me, if not my favorite. <3

Also, I might have to get these. They look lovely!

      Hi Nikita,

It’s the perfect summer scent, right? How long have you been wearing it, and have you tried any other Dolce & Gabbana perfumes?

      Hi Nikolas,

I just knew you’d be all over these! BTW, Nude and Cinnamon are must haves. 🙂 Do you ever wear them with a cat eye? So pretty!

All 3 shades look beautiful. Can I get all three? Lol

My Thursday was meh. A busy day at work, dinner, went for a walk/jog, came home, went to bed and got up for work at 2:45am (that’s not humane!!) Thank God for coffee!

LOL! See, the great thing about that would be you’d have nude lipsticks to go with everything. 🙂

Good for you for getting your exercise on, girlfriend! Although that 2:45 wakeup call is very cruel. Do you drive to work on those days? Yikes, I can’t imagine being behind the wheel at that time in the morning.

Maybe I should get at least one of them, let’s start there 🙂

I work from home so I don’t have to drive anywhere, thankfully. I can just get up 15 mins before work, get my coffee and I am ready!

Oh, that’s nice! It would be that much harder I bet to get up at 2:45 and head to an office. Do you like working from home?

Gentle Monica is sooo pretty! If only D&G makeup was available in a store in my area, I would love to play with it a little. 🙂

      Hi Icaria,

I know, I wish more stores had D&G counters. They have somer really great things, like the blushes, lipsticks and quads — all PHENOMENAL.

Hope you’re having a nice Friday so far. What are you plans for the weekend?

Pretty lipsticks. I love nude lips and smokey eyes. My Thursday was good! I had fun chatting with you about bags and pulled the trigger on the perforated satchel. I had a $10 off coupon for DSW.com and couldn’t resist the bargain!

I had fun chatting with you too! So funny, I came THIS CLOSE to buying your bag, but I figured I need to wait a while before I get another one (at least three week, LOL).

Yay, I hope you love the Perforated Satchel. 🙂 It’s a great bag and it looks even better in person. Pics seriously do not do it justice (I tried). And the $10 coupon makes it a really great deal. I can’t believe I even considered buying it full price, oy!

So what do you have lined up for the weekend? I’m probably going to watch Star Trek tonight with El Hub, and then on Sunday, I have a belated Mother’s Day date with my fam.

    Happy Friday! 🙂

I’m glad you mentioned who the collection was named for because I kept thinking “Monica who?” and then would forget to google it! You can definitely rock a nude lip but they’re not for me. That said, D&G has some beautiful stuff – and Gentle Monica is a pretty shade. 🙂

      Hi Kim,

      Happy Friday!

Gentle Monica is my fave out of the three too. Super wearable and of course PINK.

What do you and the fam have lined up for the weekend? We’re going to celebrate a belated Mother’s Day on Sunday. Other than that, maybe the new Star Trek!

Great minds think alike! We saw Star Trek yesterday, too. 🙂 I don’t think I loved it as much as the RT critics, but I thought it was solid. One of my poor little guys cried – oh, wait, I want to make sure you saw it before I give anything away.

You look STUNNING! I love the curls on you – very Monica-esque 😉 My favorite on you is True Monica, nude but not stark white. I’ll definitely look into this.

Hi Karen, all this while I have been a silent reader of your fab blog. But I cannot contain myself any longer. I just want to say, you look FANTASTIC LADY!!!!! Wow wow and wow, you nailed looking like a hot siren, that harks back to the Sophia Loren heydays era. This look and that colour black suits you to a T. And don’t get me started on the curls. *drools and dies

I love it! Gentle Monica is also my favorite and so pretty and understated. The color looks so good on you that it could be an ad in itself. Keep rocking the vibe because beauty is all in the eye of the beholder whether you are 25 or 55.
