The Pacifica Enlighten Eye Brightening Palette Spreads Enlightenment One Shadow at a Time

May 29th, 2013 by Karen 27 Comments

Pacifica Enlighten Eye Brightening Shadow
Wearing the new $12 Pacifica Enlighten Eye Brightening Shadow on my eyes

“Brighten up, buttercup!”

Sometimes when I think of Tabs taking that long walk across the rainbow bridge one day in the hopefully distant, distant future and my lower lip starts trembling, that’s what I say to myself.

“Brighten up, buttercup!”

It’s also what I said the first time I wore Pacifica’s Enlighten Eye Brightening Shadow Palette.

It sucked me in ever before I tried it, with a $12 price tag and promises to brighten my eyes (oh, hellz yeah!).

The fun and summery coral, gold, beige and purple shades come in a mix of satin and iridescent finishes. All of them seem pretty neutral to me, with the exception of the golden child, which warms my NC 42 skin.

What else?

  • The coverage varies from sheer-to-medium when applied dry, to fully opaque when applied wet
  • The mineral-based formula is infused with coconut water for a cream-like finish
  • Made without sulfates, petroleum products, parabens, SLS or phthalates
  • Vegan and cruelty-free

So, MEGA points for wear time. I’ve worn these shadows both wet and dry, on top of bare, and also atop primed lids, and they just barely crease and fade over the course of an eight-hour day.

That’s good.

I haven’t noticed any fallout either, and the formula blends like a dream…

I’m a fan of this palette, but it depends on how you feel about pigment. It doesn’t contain a ton, and the packaging could be sturdier (the plastic and cardboard aren’t exactly durable).

Pacifica is still new to the makeup world, but if this palette is an example of what we can expect from them in the future, I’m game! 🙂

PRICE: $12
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Target stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (the plastic and cardboard packaging could be b)

Karen

I have never thought of the gold. That may actually look good with my skin tone. I am a little lighter than you.

    Yay! Swatches!

I love the shades, but I mostly love the price. I might pick this one up.

It looks gorgeous! I need more eyeshadows about as much as I need another hole in my head. I’m anxiously awaiting the LORAC goodies I bought on HauteLook a week or so ago.

I got individual eyeshadows in Pewter, Nude, Moonstone, and (appropriately) Enlighten, as well as the Red Carpet Reveal Eyeshadow Palette, and their powder blush in Rose (although I’ve been using a cheek stain lately!)

Fun, fun, fun! I have Pewter around here somewhere and love it.

This can all be makeup you wear to your new job (fingers crossed). 🙂

EXACTLY! When I get one of them, I have some serious shopping to do, clothes-wise.

This palette is very, very tempting! For $12.00, very tempting, indeed. The shades looks terrific on you, Karen. I like how you placed the colors.

Please, please don’t think about the Rainbow Bridge yet. (Sniff). When it comes time, as we all know it will, then is the time to mourn and cry. (I lost my two best buds, one in December and her brother 2 weeks ago, both 18 years old. Sniff.)

Btw, you’ve mentioned the Bridge twice recently. Is Tabs ill? Please say NO!!!

Sophie, I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you a big hug.

Tabs is doing fine; I think I mentioned it because I thought about buying him a bag of Senior Kitty food for the first time a couple weeks ago. He’s no longer my kitten anymore. *sniffs*

Thank you, Karen, for the hugs (sniff). If Tabs is getting a bit up in years, maybe it’s time to get him a little friend? Just a thought, you know? >^.^<

It must be very hard. You were so lucky to have them for a long time.

I would love to get Tabs a kitty friend, but he’s so territorial. I’m afraid he would make another cat’s life miserable! He’s very protective of both me and El Hub.

I just bought this after seeing your review! It was on sale at Target (that’s Tar-jhay for us classy ladies)for $10.79. It’s not super rich in pigment like you said, but I like the silky feel. I could see wearing this to a beach getaway as I sip a margarita while my husband reads on his Kindle. Lol, I think I might need a vacation!
