These Inglot O2M Nail Enamels Say to Nails, “Don’t Forget to Breathe”

July 26th, 2013 by Karen 17 Comments

The new Inglot O2M Nail Enamels

When you hear the term, “breathable beauty products,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Let me guess — it wasn’t nail polish, right? 🙂

Lacquer isn’t exactly the first thing that pops into my head when I think about “breathable beauty products.”

Breathable foundation? Sure, I can see that. Don’t want mah precious pores gasping for air.

But breathable nail polishes?

Hmm…

Well, with these new Inglot O2M Breathable Nail Enamels, it’s their schtick.

Their designed to allow oxygen and water to pass through the enamel to the surface of the nail.

Kinda cool, although I’ve never actually thought of my nails as suffocating beneath my polish, but ok. Inglot says the formula is supposed to contribute to healthier nails.

I do have to say that when I wore six of the 16 numerically-named (grr) shades a while back, my nails did seem like they were in pretty decent good shape when I removed the polishes.

Who knows if my nails were any healthier than before, but none of them had any peeled bits, and the tips didn’t look or feel brittle, which happens to my nails with some polishes.

As for wear time, these aren’t bad. Maybe not OPI caliber, but decent enough to make it through a week without major drama.

I tested them without wearing a base or top coat, and they made it through four days filled with typing Tabs’ memoirs and a few dips in the neighborhood pool (where I imagined the water passing through the polishes) without any chipping. On the fifth day, a few small chips appeared around the edges; bigger ones showed up on day six.

For normal, non-testing wear, I probably would use these with base and top coats. I have ridges on my nails, and when I don’t do a base coat with the O2Ms, I can see the my ridges through the dried polish, even through multiple layers (I used two for the shades in this post).

If you like super smoooove-looking polishes, resist your inner lazy girl’s advances (I know it’s hard), and take the time to apply a base coat.

A few more things to consider…

  • The formula is DBP-free (no toluene, formaldehyde or dibutyl phthalate). It also doesn’t contain camphor.
  • The only shades here that gave me trubs were the two blue and green ones. Both of them stained like cray!
  • If you like shades that shine like a mirror, go for that top coat, because these aren’t nearly as shiny as other brands I’ve tried.

I think I will wear these again, despite a few quibbles (not a fan of the numerical naming). I do like the colors and the decent wear time. I’m not completely sold on the whole breathable angle, but I think they’re worth a try if you have very sensitive nails or nails that peel and/or dry out easily.

PRICE: $14 each

These are so nice! The important thing with these is that practicing Muslim women can finally wear nail polish. I believe this is the only polished approved by halal(similar to kosher approval).

This is a hit among Muslim women right and many arab countries because we have to pray five times a day and cnt have our nails painted as to pray we wash our body part including nails. Breathables let water pass through 🙂

Inglot have numerically-named products, as they are available in different countries and want the “names” to be international. That’s what I was told by the company representatives. By the way, it’s one of my fave brands.

Thanks for mentioning that. I would have never known but it makes sense–no one need know English then to buy and talk about Inglot.

I wish Inglot had names for their shades. There are so many great products in their line up and I own quite a few lipsticks and eye shadows but I can rarely remember their shade numbers!

oo I like that first one. I feel like no matter what crazy nail polishes I buy, I always go back to pink. I have way too many bottles in variations of the same shade.

I loove 687. And I agree, they need ‘real’ names!

Wow I love these colors, they remind me of the Beach collection by Zoya which is one of my favorites, although the blue and the green appear more neon than with the Zoya collection. Might have to check these out 🙂

No offense, but the word is BREATHE – it’s the verb form. BREATH is the nound. They are pronounced differently. You’re welcome.

      Hi Bee,

No offense taken. Thanks for the good catch. Everyone makes typos, right? 😉
