Late Night Beauty Shortcuts – Makeup and Beauty Blog’s Guide to Smart Clubbing, Part 1

Now here is a sentence that I never thought I’d see in print: I’ve been going to clubs for 13 years. YIKES! I don’t go to clubs to meet people (hello, married). I go to clubs strictly to get my dance on, and during these many years of shaking my groove thang I’ve learned a makeup and beauty trick or two for several pre and post club situations.

So this week Makeup and Beauty Blog will be all up in the club, with posts about how to make your makeup and beauty routine easier, faster and just plain better for those late nights out dancing with your friends.

If you know me then you know that I love to dance. It’s one of my favorite things to do in the world besides eating and talking back (ha ha ha). To get my fix these days I go to hip hop classes every week and then I go to a club at least every other month with my favorite dancing buds, Naaman and Cindy.

In my early club days, I’d get home at 3 or 4, stay up a few hours, take a shower, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, watch the sun rise and then pass out. That is sooooo not the drill anymore. First of all, my lame ass gets tired early, so when I get home I don’t have the energy to go through the whole process of getting cleaned up before going to bed. I still like to be minimally clean though before hitting the pillow — I work up a good sweat when I go dancing, so I don’t like to be all crusty and sticky when I got to sleep. This need for minimal cleanliness post-clubbing leads us to the first tip:

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG’S CLUBBING TIP #1:

Take a truck stop shower when you get home.

Tired folks, unite! When you get home from the club and it’s late and you don’t have the energy for a shower then do what lazy clubbers do: take a modified shower (aka truck stop shower) in the sink.

A truck stop shower is the minimal amount I need to get the layer of sweat off before I go to bed after a night out clubbing. Here’s what you do: Grab your face cleanser. (I like Clean & Clear’s Sensitive Skin cleanser in a pump. It smells good, takes all the makeup off and rinses easily.) In your bathroom sink, wash your face, then wash the front and back of your neck, then your arms, your armpits and your breasts. Rinse off with water. Voila — you’ve reached enough cleanliness to fall asleep without feeling disgusting. If you are really super duper tired then just skip the water and cleanser and use makeup wipes or baby wipes on those parts.

I know it sounds simple but the truck stop shower does wonders for me when I get home at 3:00 a.m. I hate going to bed with a sticky neck and sticky arms, and even though it’s not a full-blow shower it’s enough to make me feel comfortable when I go to bed.

I just turned in my story so I’ve returned back to the land of the living, woo hoo! I hope you mommies out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I ended up visiting mine and taking her out to lunch. I wore her favorite shirt – a white tee that says I heart Mom. I think every child should own one of these, they’re handy on Mother’s Day AND when you’re in the doghouse, lol.

Have a great Tuesday ya’ll!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

This may be a weird question, but why would you want to wash your breasts and not your unmentionable area(s)? I’ve been clubbing and my breasts don’t get that sweaty, though other parts sometimes get… clammy. Sorry if I grossed anyone out! 🙂

    Nice post as always, Karan!
