Random MBB Fun Fact: From sixth to ninth grade (circa the late ’80s, early ’90s) my idea of high fashion was Esprit clothing, and I loved it so much that I covered my walls in Esprit ads.
I lived for the rare times when my mom would drive me out to the Esprit outlet in South San Francisco.
Looking back, I ended up wearing some pretty weird clothes (don’t even get me started on the full body black-and-white giraffe print ensemble), but eh — at least my tweens were interesting. 🙂
Anywho, I think of those days whenever I wear the new Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Esprit ($34), a sheer and shiny burgundy lip shine from the Fall 2013 Superstition collection.
What should you know about Chanel Esprit Rouge Coco Shine?
- It has a lightweight, non-sticky formula.
- It’s fairly moisturizing, but not as moisturizing as something like a Clarins Natural Light Lip Perfector.
- Lasts from 3-4 hours for me and fades to a pretty berry-colored stain.
- Has a yummy rose flavor and scent.
OOO now this looks like something I’d really enjoy! I don’t think I own a lot of similar shades, but I can probably pull this one off 😉
Another beauty from Chanel. 🙂 Thanks for the rewind to Esprit, too. Half my wardrobe and shoe collection came from Esprit. I loved it back in the 80s! Do you remember when Coca Cola had clothing? That was quite a hit for a year or so here, as well.
Love this one on you! I haven’t done too well with Rouge Coco Shine. My latest attempt is Scenario and it just doesn’t pack enough color punch for me. I like Esprit better and wish I’d bought that instead!
I bought this over the weekend and now it’s en route to my home. I can’t wait to give this a try!

Funny – I think the late 80’s were a really interesting time for fashion. I was totally inspired by Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink…wearing a mishmash of 60’s stuff from our attic with leggings and boots. Head to toe giraffe? Own it, Karen!

AHAHAHAHA I WAS THE SAME!! I had Esprit ensembles! I used to LOVE all the weird patterned pants-there was some doozies boy! I wish I still had them now haha!

This explains a lot. Lord I think you and my sister might have shopped the same Espirit outlets in the Bay Area during its heyday. She dressed me like a child size walking Espirit ad.
I usually like rosy lip colors and I’m not sure why this isn’t engaging me. The price tag is probably it.
Quite a bit of my wardrobe came from Esprit. I went for the basic black clothes and they were perfect for work clothing. I wish they were still around in North America. Those are both really pretty lip colours.

Karen, you look absolutely STUNNING in the whole series of Chanel articles you’ve recently posted. I want it all. Unfortunately I’ll be away when it comes out in the Netherlands, but my favourite SA will be keeping my choices aside for me.
I was deeply disappointed when they “intensified” the Rouge Coco Shines and made the colours so deep; I adored them for their sheer, subtle glossy nature. But this colour looks lovely, I’ll try it out!.
