Wear Golden MAC Woodwinked Eye Shadow and Your Favorite Purple for a Pretty Party Eye

MAC Woodwinked + your fave purple liner = magic!

This is not a post about the marvelous MAC Woodwinked Eye Shadow, although it could be. In Jack Kerouac On the Road-style, I could scribe a novel on a single scroll of paper about its many marvelous traits and why you need it in your life.

More accurately, this is a post about the magic MAC Woodwinked makes when you pair it with a purple liner or eyeshadow. When shimmery golden Woodwinked meets a violet, the combo creates more magic than Harry Potter!

They’re one of my favorite dinner party pairings, perfect when I want to up my eye game but don’t want to spend all night getting ready.

Why MAC Woodwinked?

Well, why not? It’s freaking beautiful! 🙂 But if you’re unfamiliar with this warm, shimmery gold…

  1. It looks amazing with brown, green, hazel, gray and blue eyes.
  2. It’s softer than a tabby’s tum, pigmented and blends like a breeze.
  3. It goes well with just about every beige or brown I’ve ever seen.
  4. I love it so much that I haven’t taken a trip without it in at least five years.
  5. It’s freaking beautiful!

Becca Cabrera Eyeliner on my lower lash lines, MAC Blacktrack Fluidline on my upper lash lines and MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara on my lashes

Whenever I wear the combo above, I usually apply Woodwinked on my lids and a purple along my lower lash and water lines, but wearing purple on the upper lash and water lines totally works, too.

If I’m feeling fancy and/or have a little extra time, then I’ll do some thick cat liner on my upper lash lines, and put on a pair of false lashes like the MAC 33s.

That’s MAC Kiss Kiss Supreme Sheen Lipglass on my lips…

And get this: it doesn’t really seem to matter which purple I use. From moody midnight violets to brighter purples, it’s all good. Woodwinked handles ’em all.

Most of the time I’ll do this look with MAC Prunella Eye Kohl, but I haven’t been able to find mine. (Story of my life! It was probably Tabs…)

Here I’m wearing Woodwinked with Becca Cabrera Eyeliner, a deep violet bronze.

If you aren’t a MAC gal (*gasp!* No worries, we can still be friends), you could try the same combo using golds and purples from other brands, like…

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Half Baked with 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Psychedelic Sister
  • NARS Shimmer Eyeshadow in Goldfinger with Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Bourbon Street
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow in Give Me Gold with Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Eggplant

Becca Flowerchild Blush on my cheeks

Give it a try one of these days, and let me know how it turns out. Maybe wear it with peach or coral cheeks and lips. 🙂

And speaking of MAC…

I had a sighting last night. I’d just finished watching a nice little movie on Netflix called Donovan’s Echo, and at the end of the credits, BOOM! — there’s MAC.

I guess they did the makeup for the movie.

The film is about an older gentleman played by Danny Glover who returns to his hometown after a terrible tragedy and many years away.

He’s plagued by premonitions, which at first he takes for déjà vu. He can’t tell if they’re real and mean something, or if he’s just going straight-up cray.

Hmm… I kind of love the idea of someone spraying Fix+ on Danny Glover, LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ooh, pretty combo! Do you have Bare Study Paint Pot? I bet that would be really pretty layered beneath your combo!

Woodwinked is so pretty, but it doesn’t work for me. 🙁 It creases and fades terribly. I have tried so many primers. It wasn’t meant to be. 🙁

It’s amazing how different it looks on you Karen! On me it has the tendency to look a bit too orange/warm and I still need a way to make it work. I’ll definitely try it with a purple, it’s such a glam combo!

You know what??. Now I have to re-purchase it again. I still remember the day I lost both Woodwinked and Da Bling when travelling to Canada. A total disaster!!. I’ve been missing Woodwinked a lot, but never had the urge to re-purchase… Now I do!!!

Great post! Woodwinked is my all time favorite eyeshadow. I love it so much that if I could only wear one shadow for the rest of my life, this would be it – I wouldn’t even have to think about it. I have been through so many of these.
