Ultra Long Lashes Are Ultra Pricey With Tom Ford Ultra Length Mascara in Raven

The new Tom Ford’s new Ultra Length Mascara in Raven, $42

Wait — what? Tom Ford’s Ultra Length Mascara in Raven is $42?

Daaayuuum!

I’ve seen the future, girl, and it’s a world where mascaras cost almost $50 a pop.

Cats also roam free in supersonic airline cabins and Nutella-flavored Pop Tarts are free, and those are pretty cool, but I don’t know if they make up for the price of this mascara… Maybe.

Ultra Length Mascara is new to Tom Ford’s line. It’s designed to stretch and lengthen lashes while adding a deep, dark carbon-black color.

I’ve been wearing it a few days now, and I like what I seen. Two coats and my lashes look crazy long and dark. Plus, it doesn’t flake or smudge.

But truth be told…I was expecting even more considering the price. The formula stretches my lashes out so much that I also lose much of my lash curl, and I see lumps when I apply multiple coats, which I want to do to squeeze out more thickness and definition.

If Raven’s piqued your interest, it’s available now on Neiman Marcus Tom Ford counters and coming soon to neimanmarcus.com.

Hmm…I pay $36 for Lancôme oscillation mascara but that’s only when a free gift with purchase is involved.

Egad, Tom. I’m willing to shell out some cash for mascara but, for that price, it had better make my lashes look like falsies! 🙂

Yes. And it would have to attract all the neighborhood cats, so they’d follow me around while I took my afternoon walk. That would be awesome. 😀

I love me some high-end/prestige cosmetics, but the price points are really pushing the envelope. It makes me grouchy. I defend the quality of certain things, like a $24 gel eyeliner and a $30 tube of lipstick, but in all honesty neither product is “worth” that amount of $$.

      Hi Amanda,

I love me some high-end makeup too. What brands are your favorites?

Right now I’m luvin’ the Hourglass Femme Rouge lipstick (Vintage, per your recommendation!) and the Hourglass primers. MAC, Bobbi Brown and NARS are my go-to brands. I’ve never tried Chanel or Dior, but I might talk myself into splurging on some Chanel nail polish or other goodies for my birthday 🙂

Birthdays are the best days for Chanel. Any day, really. I need to go to the counter soon to do some retail therapy. When’s your b-day? I’m a gemini, muself.

I’d get far better results using by $4 Jordana Best Lash Extreme. PASS!

Haven’t tried that one yet. Is it good for curl hold?

At that price tag it should say it’s made of moon dust and some rare bygone era materials. Yes your lashes look super long but they look flat. This is a pass for me.

Have you seen the new Clarins one? It’s my jam these days.

My tabby, Hazel, is switchin’ her tail in annoyance over another fine cat lady caught by the hypnotic kitty nip of Tom Ford! Don’t succumb to his nip! You’ll start craving it like tuna with gravy ON TOP! Hazel’s assistance loves a good mascara too and has been a slave to Armani’s Eyes to Kill for years…but it is STILL cheaper than Tom’s nip and she’s buys it when Nordies does the ” buy 2 get one free” events. Hazel loves how long and separated her assistance’s lashes are especially when they are looking over her food bowl.

I have fairly long lashes, what I want is volume. Currently loving my Shiseido mascara – it gives me amazing volume but is a pain to remove!

    Hi Karen,

I love your eyeshadow and lips in this picture. Can you tell me what you used. I know I should be excited by the mascara but the whole look is amazing! The mascara looks good but I’m not sure its worth it. I’ve tried them all and Maybelline falsies gives me crazy long lashes and its under $10. 🙂

    Thanks your pictures are amazing!

I like a lot of Tom Ford products but feel his prices are too high! I’ve wanted one of his perfumes for a while but don’t want to spend $200 for a bottle, all of his makeup is over priced imo.The drugstore mascaras by Maybelline could rival this one.I really like Chanel’s Le Volume (thanks Karen) for a high end mascara though.

I couldn’t justify spending so much on this mascara when there are so many cheaper ones that work just as well.

I love Tom Ford cosmetics in general and have numerous products, but that mascara price is just too, too much–especially for a product I toss out every two months. I’ll stick with my Guerlain Lashes D’Enfer Maxi lash. I stock up during Nordstrom’s twice yearly Mascara Madness which brings the price down to reasonable.

Lancome’s mascaras are $50 in Singapore! So is Chanel! I haven’t even bother to find out the price of Tom Ford’s.
