If You Hunger for Lash Volume, Try Covergirl Hunger Games Flamed Out Mascara in Very Black Blaze

When it comes to love, luck and lashes, may the odds be ever in your favor.

The new Covergirl Hunger Games Flamed Out Mascara Very Black Blaze has a curved brush
Nice curves…

Not that I see Katniss from The Hunger Games ever obsessing over lash length, separation and curl (hey, that’s my job!). She has more important things to worry about…like survival. But, I like to think that if she ever caught a break from the arena, maybe she’d like the new Flamed Out Mascara in Very Black Blaze ($7) from Covergirl’s Hunger Games collection.

The curved brush easily reaches lashes at the roots, while the non-clumping formula quickly increases volume.

Two coats of Covergirl Hunger Games Flamed Out Mascara in Very Black Blaze
Wearing two coats…

If I spent my days fomenting revolution, training in hand-to-hand combat, and dealing with two dudes fighting over me (Team Peeta!), Flamed Out would be perfect for me! — but since I sit in front of a computer with a cat on my lap for hours on end…I’m hardly ever in fight-or-flight mode (depends on Tabs). I would rather trade some of the volume for a little extra length, separation and curl hold.

All in all, I think it’s a pretty decent mascara, and two coats should do any gal and/or dystopian archery expert proud.

PRICE: $7
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores and online

It’s actually too big. It’s nicely on smaller eyes.

Oh I hated, hated this mascara. I have stick-straight (asian) lashes and there only waterproof formulas keep the curl in my lashes. I bought the waterproof version of Flamed Out. I curled my lashes and applied the mascara. Within 5 minutes the curls were gone and it was like I wasn’t even wearing mascara. I would not recommend this to anyone with coarse, straight lashes.

      Hi Cristine,

Have you tried waiting a while between the layers? For me that seems to make a big difference in curl hold.

I did wait and I found when I put on a second coating it made my lashes clump. Overall it wasn’t a smooth application the second time around. It was sadly disappointing. Thus far I’ve only found Maybelline mascaras to hold a curl in my lashes.

      Hi Chris,

Thanks, girl. 🙂 Hope you’re doing well. How’s the weather out there on the East Coast today? It’s sunny and clear in the Bay Area.

I grabbed this last week when I *finally* found the Hunger Games glosstini polishes! I am really liking the shape of the brush and the soft fluffy bristles. It’s no Clump Crusher (my fave) but I really like it so far. No flaking, smudging or eye irritating for me! 🙂

      Hi Amber,

I’m a fan of Clump Crusher too! 🙂 What polish colors did you get from the Hunger Games collection?

I got Pyro Pink (only one I’ve tried thus far), Seared Bronze and Rogue Red. I liked the pink, but it’s so similar to one of my favorite gel polishes so I am passing it on to another blogger friend. I am still looking for a few of the other polishes. The green and purple look gorgeous! I can’t wait to see the movie. Book 2 was my favorite, and I know it’ll be great! 🙂

Thanks Rachel. They’ve been stressing me out lately so this was a nice comment to read!

How are your brows doing these days? Are you wearing a bolder brow for fall?

Still using my little benefit brow kit, which I’ve had forever but I love it! I over plucked my brows for years so I still have to fill them in a bit in the middle, plus it just looks better now that my hair is darker and I wear bold lips a lot of the time!
