My Lips Are Glazed: The Secret to Successful Gift Giving Lies in the New Stila Color Me Glossy Set

October 30th, 2013 by Karen 26 Comments

Stila Color Me Glossy
The new $28 Stila Color Me Glossy Lip Glaze Set

Shhh… I won’t tell if you don’t. Cross my heart and pinky swear. It happens to the best of us at least once this time of year.

Stila Color Me Glossy

You pick up a holiday set, like the $28 Stila Color Me Glossy Lip Glaze kit, and think, “Woo-hoo! What a great deal.”

You contemplate the set’s three trios and conclude that you could give two of them away and keep one for yourself.

Nothing wrong with that. 🙂 It’s totally cool.

That’s because this limited edition Stila set is designed for all kinds of gift-giving, even gifting to yourself. It comes with three separate trios with three Lip Glazes each.

Stila Color Me Glossy

Each trio even has a tag on which to write the recipient’s name, like “TO: Me, FROM: Santa.” How cute is that?!

Considering that one full-sized 0.08-ounce Lip Glaze regularly costs $22, the nine slightly smaller ones (0.05 ounces each) you get for $28 here seem like a steal (cue the endorphin rush)!

But beware the slippery slope of bargains like these…

It usually starts while you’re futzing with the separate sets, which in this case contain coordinating gloss colors.

You spot a color you like from one pack and a second color from another. Next thing you know, you’ve cherry picked the ones you want to keep for yourself!

Pretty soon half (or more) of them are sitting in your pile “to keep.”

At this point, feel free to blame it on the holiday makeup elves. That’s what I usually do. 😉

Like MAC Liplasses in click-pen packaging, these Lip Glazes are fun! They’re thick, sticky and last from 4-6 hours. Plus, they have a brush, which makes the application like painting your lips.

They’re also flavored and fragrant, with scents and flavors that correspond to the names.

That’s a nice touch.

I’m partial to Amaretto and Passion Fruit, two of the nude shades, and Wildberry, the sheer bright. Those three, I think I’d keep for myself.

Cranberry and Persimmon, both of them pigmented brights, are just as fun and more dramatic, but for some reason, when it comes to the intense colors, the included soft brush just doesn’t do it for me. If I don’t use a lip liner first before outlining my lips, it gets a little messy.

Still, the kit delivers a lot of bang for your buck. If you have a long list of gifts to give, many of them for makeup lovers, Stila’s Color Me Glossy Lip Glaze Set could help, especially with the stocking stuffers.

Happy Christmas Halloween!

On my way to the grocery store the other night, I noticed that my neighbor’s curtains were open, so I peeked inside (I’m nosy that way, ha!).

Their living room was already decked out for Christmas!

Really…? Christmas? Already? But it’s not even Halloween.

You know that phrase, “Christmas in July”? Well, just wait. It’s only a matter of time.

There’s a local radio station here that starts playing holiday music 24/7 from the week before Thanksgiving. Watch it be the week before Halloween next year.

Which reminds me, do you get many trick-or-treaters there? I still have to get some candy, but I’ve been putting it off, because I know that if it’s in the house, I’ll eat it! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I definitely think I would keep the Melon, Dazzleberry and Wildberry! I love the way Stila Lip glazes feel my lips are so dry I think the glazes cling a little better that way.

      Hi Natalie,

I’m all about the Mini Snickers! Maybe the Milky Way, too, if I’m desperate.

We live in a college area, I doubt we’ll get trick or treaters.

I’m getting my fairy wings all ready for tomorrow! I got some cheap angel wings from the Salvation Army, and just hot glued fake flowers all over them (with neon and glittery hot glue sticks!)

Way too early for Christmas! My mom’s rule was no Christmas stuff until after her birthday, December 2nd.

Well, my makeup got a bit ruined because it was pouring rain, but I have silver, lavender, and plum glitter eyeshadow, shimmery stuff on the cheeks, and big lashes.

I really like the Lip Glaze formula. I kind of want this set to give/keep (like you suggest!), but I already have 10 or so of them, so I might be able to resist purchasing. I do really like the way they seem to set on my lips and stay around pretty well through tea drinking. I think Kaleidoscope is my favorite of this kit!

What a great deal! I am especially loving Melon. I live in a very family-friendly neighbourhood so I do get a lot of trick-or-treaters, it’s always cute to see the kids in their costumes!

Oh how fun! We only get a handful of them. They all rush the door at once, so I hook ’em up with candy. 🙂

Did you dress up this year?

I bought these, but all for myself!

And still have another unopened trio, and three other unopened full size glazes too!

    Stila is my downfall!

Omg Dazzleberry! All the berries! I normally don’t like nudes but Stila’s Glazes like Kitten, Orchard, Vanilla.. They look gorgeous! I would def have to give away the milky colors.. They look zombie on me! Such as Strawberry Cream or Amaretto. <3 your blogs!! And thanks for the swatches and your ever present sense of humor 😉 !
