7 Ways to Win a $50 eGift Card From Sephora! (Ends Monday)

November 2nd, 2013 by Karen 488 Comments

A Makeup and Beauty Blog giveaway

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway

Greetings, I love you. 🙂

How’s it going, babe (and you, too, dude)? I hope you slept well. I’m looking forward to a couple things this weekend. My in-laws are visiting, so we’ll probably take them sightseeing around the Bay Area today, which is always fun. Not sure what we’re going to do, yet, but whatever it is, there’s a good chance it will involve food, and lots of it.

And then Sunday should also be fun. I’m literally counting down the seconds, no joke! October was my friend Jen’s birthday month (yes, I firmly believe that everyone should have a birthday month), so Cindy, another good friend of mine, and I are belatedly treating her (and, um, ourselves) to a spa and dinner.

We haven’t gotten together like this in many moons, so I can’t wait to see them and just hang out.

I plan to get a deep-tissue massage and intend to tell the massage tech to “pummel the crap out of all the knots in my back,” or “tenderize me like a side of beef, yo!”

Hopefully, I have that loosey-goosey feeling when it’s done. I love that…

Anywho, on to this weekend’s giveaway, and you know how we do it. There’s a $50 Sephora eGift card here with someone’s name on it.

I’ve taken so many memorable classes! But my favorite has to be an introductory geology class I took… we got to take an awesome weekend field trip to the Catskill Mountains in New York to look for evidence of the assembly and breakup of continents! It was beautiful and really interesting!

I actually just started wearing/carrying around one of the darker/bolder shades of this Tarte LipSurgence set I got forever ago (okay, two years), it’s a beautiful berry color, but it looks like a tad darker hot pink on my lips.

I am a big lipstick scaredy cat, so this is kind of a big deal for me. I usually try to stay away from darker lipsticks, because they’re scary and bold and “hey look at me”, and that’s not who I am generally, LOL.

I actually have this amazing bold lipstick in my purse that I recently picked up from Sephora. It is YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine in Fuchsia in Excess, and it is unbelievably gorgeous! Although the name makes it sound like it will be more of a just vibrant pink color, it is actually a lovely berry-toned pink- perfect for fall!

I had bum length hair, when I broke up with my first ‘real’ boyfriend, and also my daughters father at 19, I cut it completely off so it looked closer to a bob. I HATED it short, but it was so librating because he would never let me cut it off.

I like a darker lip for fall, but brights are still in right now. I have to be in the right mood for a super bright lip, and still want a deeper shade for fall, so I have compromised with an old classic – Revlon’s Cherries in the Snow. On me it is a brightened rich raspberry pink-red. Makes my skin look clearer and eyes stand out. NC20 skin blonde blue eyes. Have a great visit and massage Karen!

I actually have tried belly-dancing, and it’s quite fun. I like the jangly noises the hip adornments make when you dance. And the most memorable class I’ve ever taken is probably the Biology of Women class I took in college; it was pretty awesome! And yes, I have cut my hair after a breakup, and it was also awesome. I cut it shorter and shorter in the ensuing years and now it doesn’t even reach my chin, and it’s great.

I love how fall is like a fresh start. With the new crisp air it just makes me feel like I need to get out with the old and in with the new. It makes me feel like I need to let go of the things holding me back. I love how beautiful nature is in the fall, with the colors of the leaves. I love the smell of the air. Most importantly, my hair doesn’t frizz up and my makeup doesn’t melt off like in the summer hehe =)

I prefer lip glosses that are pigmented enough so that I can wear them as full color as they come or sheer them out as much as I like.

I’ve not only cut my hair after a break-up but I’ve been known to dye my hair (usually darker) as well. Changing up my hair gave me a new perspective in some weird way and ready to move on from the past.

I rather have an opaque gloss I don’t think there is much sense in a sheer one! I like glosses that wear well by themselves.

I’ve never cut my hair off as a reaction to a breakup, but the length has changed a bunch over the years. I seem to go in 5-7 year cycles, wearing it long for a time then getting bored or frustrated with it and hacking it all off. The last time was this past January when I literally took a foot off and donated it to Locks of Love. I’ve kept it short so far, with no need to grow it out yet. That will come, though – it always does.

No I’ve never tried belly dancing but I think it would be such fun! Want to learn!

My favorite class was always Art, but I think my most memorable would have to be French. Maybe? haha Not sure.

Not in my purse, I put all my makeup away. But I’ve been wearing a bold red lipstick from Revlon.

I can French braid very poorly on my own. haha Maybe not that bad, but I’ve only tried once or twice.

I love the colors, the atmosphere, the clothes (boots and scarves!), and Halloween. Definitely Halloween!

I’m not sure, but I think opaque sound more appealing. Wouldn’t want the lip version of VNL going on. haha!

If I did, it wasn’t because of the breakup. I change my hair a lot.

My goals for November are just to focus more time on my blog, and learning to socialize more, and spend more time on my art. 🙂

I’m terrible at French braiding my own hair. I’m getting a little better with practice, but my hair is really thick and doesn’t cooperate at all. That’s why 90% of the time, it’s down or in a ponytail!

Have you ever tried belly dancing? – Yes! Love it to pieces! I even have a blue coin skirt!
What’s the most memorable class you’ve ever taken? – To be honest, my Forestry class in high school was 50 shades of ridiculous. So so funny, so many memories of running around in the school forest with some of my best friends who I’m still close with to this day.
Can you French braid your own hair? – Yep, sure can!
What do you love about fall? – PUMPKIN EVERYTHING. Yes, in all caps. It’s that exciting.
Would you rather wear sheer or opaque lip gloss? – Sheer.
Have you ever cut your hair off after a breakup? – Omg, I wish I could say I’m not that person but I do change my hair after any big life event! My most recent breakup was followed by blunt, eyebrow-sweeping bangs a la Zooey Deschanel. It turned out really nice though, I ended up keeping them!
What are your November goals? – Finish my novel for Nanowrimo and transition smoothly between my seasonal jobs.

I love fall not only because of the change in leaf colors, but also because of the overall transition. Change can be hard for people, but fall reminds us change is inevitable and it can be beautiful! It’s a seasonal, wardrobe, and makeup transition; and it’s a transition to remember to focus on your family and things to be grateful for if you celebrate Thanksgiving. I just love it for all of those things, and makeup-wise I love it for my new dark plum Urban Decay lipstick in the color “Venom!” 🙂

I still have the text book and have referred to it many times over the xx years since I took the class (I’m talking Mendel and his sweet peas days). If I had it to all over again I would have pursued a medical science career in genetics. Genetics remains fascinating to me to this day.

I can french braid my own hair, I never cut it off after a breakup, the best part about fall is HALLOWEEN, and my most memorable class was karate – I worked really hard and was the only one in my class to finish (4.5 years) with a black belt. That was 9 years ago and I wish life didn’t get in the way; I think about going back a LOT.

I have tried belly dancing before, but my balance is terrible so it did not work well. I have multiple bold lipsticks in my purse. I currently have venom, and jilted by urban decay as well up the amp, and ruby woo by mac. I even have so berry sexy by too faced. I cannot french braid at all. I love how minestrone soup tastes in the fall. Opaque lip gloss all the way for sure. I have not cut my hair (other than a trim) in years. My november goals all concern the anime convention that I help staff. Being the vice-director of a department means that I have to submit my yearly budget soon as our convention has just happened this weekend.

I definitely had a bold lipstick in, well, my shirt pocket yesterday. (No purse for me.) I layered the new Revlon Matte Balm in Shameless (the deep true purple which is impressive in a drugstore line) with the new Maybelline Color Elixir in Vision in Violet over top. Such an intense truly purple lip. It looked brilliant…for a few hours. Then I had something happen to me that I’ve heard of but never experienced: lipcolor bleeding. Real bad. I’m not sure if it was the Elixir or the Matte Balm, but I’m thinking it was the former. And the hot pink stain it left on my lips was somewhat undesirable. …but it was nice while it lasted! 😛

Hell, yes, I cut all my hair off after a breakup! My asshat ex-husband insisted I looked awful with short hair, and so wouldn’t let me cut it no matter how much I wanted to. (Mind, this is the ass who spent all our money on dates with other women, and wouldn’t give me enough money to buy my asthma prescriptions. I finally learned not to eat so I could get my medicines. He’s a monster.) As soon as he kicked me out–if I’d left, I’d probably be dead–I chopped it off and have never looked back.
