The New Too Faced Candy Bar Pop-Out Makeup Palette & iPhone Case, and the Life and Times of an International Kitty Supermodel’s Harried Pet Assistant

December 10th, 2013 by Karen 26 Comments

Wearing (and holding!) the new Too Faced Candy Bar Pop-Out Makeup Palette and iPhone Case ($25)

KAREN: “I’m so sorry, Mr. Lagerfeld, but I have to briefly place you on hold. Tabs’ emergency line is ringing, and I need to answer it.

Too Faced Candy Bar Pop-Out Makeup Palette and iPhone Case
“Please hold.”

(Picks up phone.) “Hello, Tabs the Cat Industries, LLC, Office of the President. This is a secure line. How may I assist you?”

Wearing the new Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Taffy on my lips…

TABS: “Meow.” (“It took you long enough.”)

KAREN: “Oh, hello, sir. Did you mean to call me on the emergency line? I have Karl on hold, and he’s kind of in a cranky mood…”

TABS: “Meeeeowww. Mrow.” (“No time for pleasantries, woman. What’s the status on the Too Faced Candy Bar Pop-Out Makeup Palette report I asked you to prepare?”)

Candy Bar Pop Out Makeup Palette ($25, for use with the iPhone 5, and possibly 5s only)

KAREN: “Well, I was just about to type up the final draft and email it to you, but I can relay the highlights to you over the phone. Do you have a moment? I don’t want to interrupt your vacay on Kauai…”

TABS: “Mrow. Mrrow-mrow-mrow!” (“You know I’m always on the job, even on vacation! Give me the abridged version; I have two minutes before the limo gets here, and I don’t want to be late for my deep-tissue kitty massage at the Four Seasons.”)

Too Faced Candy Bar
Mmm…chocolate

KAREN: “Understood, sir. Well, let’s see, the essentials — it’s $25, limited edition, new for spring, and it comes with 11 powder eyeshadows, a matte bronzer and a matte blush. You can also pop out the palette and use the case as a cover for your phone, but it only works with the iPhone 5 (and possibly the 5s).

“I experienced some minor fallout from the shadows. As for blending, the mattes blended pretty well, as did the shimmers, although the lighter shimmers could use a little more pigment. The darker shades, however — in particular the purple and blue — made my eyes a little teary.

“Regarding the packaging, it’s cute, but the pans are rather small. I couldn’t help but accidentally cross-pollinate the colors.”

TABS: “Mrrrwow?” (“The bronzer and blush?”)

KAREN: “I really like them both. Very pigmented, smooth, easy to blend. Again, the smaller pan sizes are kind of a pain because they don’t quite fit my bronzer and blush brushes easily.”

Too Faced Candy Bar Pop Out Makeup Palette Swatches
Swatches…

TABS: “Meeeeawww?” (“The final verdict?”)

KAREN: “I give it a ‘B,’ sir. It’s very cute, and the colors are wearable and useful, but the pans are a tad too small for my liking, and I could do without the fallout.”

Tabs: “Mrrow. Meow-row.” (“Thank you for your report, Karen. It was most adequate. When we hang up, please book a trip for me to see Karl in Paris next month. I feel like I’m going to need a vacation after this vacation…”)

(Hangs up.)

    Hi Karen,

This is such a great post (I love the phone chat with Tabs)! This looks cute, but I really dislike fallout, so I’ll probably pass. This would be a really cute gift for the holidays though! Its nifty.

I really like the color selection in this, I just wish it felt more … practical? It’s so small, and just doesn’t feel like the best version of itself possible. Plus, I don’t have an iPhone, ha.

I’m excited for the other new Too Faced products but the iPhone case/make-up palette thing just doesn’t appeal to me. Great post though, thanks Karen!

    Hi Karen,

Oh my goodness! What a fun iPhone case — chocolate certainly makes anything look more appealing, including this palette 🙂

In general, I think Too Faced comes out with some really cute and unique palettes but I won’t lie, I think the idea of a “phone” palette is a tiny bit gimmicky. But at least the colors seem pretty! Too bad about the fallout though…

That is one really demanding boss you have Karen! Too Faced isn’t doing well lately with palettes 🙁 What I’ve seen from reviews, the best one was A Few of my Favorite Things.

Karen, I just wanted to let you know I thought of you today…I bought the Nars Bad Behavior eye shadow in the new formula, the one you showed a few weeks ago. Your’s arrived broken, but I thought, “nah, that won’t happen to mine.” When I got home from Sephora, mine was busted, too! I am not going to bother with it, and will return it tomorrow. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

LOLOLOL…I had a feeling that as a Chanel fan you’d appreciate that bit.

OMG this day has been so long for me, but I’m almost done. How was yours? Right now I’m trying to decide between working out or eating Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Stars.

I took a nap instead of working on a paper! I thought I had to have the whole thing done tomorrow, but I just have to give a short overview, and turn the paper in next week, so WHEW!

Good day! Cold walk to work, it was about 15 degrees out!

Oh, it’s funny – I was just apologizing about that in my last comment. 🙂 I have to get some while he’s still a kitten! He’s a lot of fun and he’s killing the Big Three. He stalks them and then jumps on their heads to “play”. He never seems to learn his lesson, but he gets knocked around pretty well. They only take so much. And the tree… the poor, poor tree. 🙂

Loving the chocolate bar stuff but will probalby pass – until the large one is released. THe cute packaging on that one is too much. I don’t really like the smaller one and I’m still using an iPhone 3gs LOL. very low techy techy…

Of course Boosh sends her love; and says, “Mow purda purda meoff” (It isn’t the first time Karl’s been put on hold.)

Hi Karen! I’ve never left a comment on your blog before, which is a real shame, because I love your blog!

I must say, these “iphone palettes” from Too Faced just doesn’t do it for me. I think they look like the kind of cheap palettes we got to play with as kids… I think Too faced has really stepped up their game lately, but this isn’t for me… sadly.
