The Fab 5, Vol. 3: NARS Cosmetics

January 17th, 2014 by Karen 24 Comments

Wow, this was hard…narrowing it down to just 5.

I should have called this one the Fab 15, LOL! I’m almost certainly going to have to do a part 2 version to dig into the eyeshadows, blushes and lip products. Let me know if you think I should.

Um…as for the video, sorry about the awkward pauses that last a couple beats too long. I had planned to edit them out, but then I was stricken by a bout of fatigue and laziness.

Oh, well. Big sigh…

Products mentioned in the video:

  • NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($42)
  • NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ($24)
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($28)
  • NARS Amour Blush ($29)
  • NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Lodhi ($25)

Thank you, as always, for watching, my friend. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Love this! I always get compliments on my skin when I wear the tinted moisturizer, I think because people don’t necessarily realize that I’m wearing makeup. It’s beautiful.

I have and love everything you mentioned except the eyeshadow base and blush. I’ve been dying to try both! I have plenty of blushes but Amour is so pretty and everyone seems to love it. I guess I’ll finally pick them up the next time I go to Sephora.

Augh! NARS is on my list of brands to finally get my hands on. I’ll have to save up though! I’m glad you’ve pointed out a few of your favourites, so I can add your knowledge to my research!

If I had to use only one brand for the rest of my life it would be Nars. So you could do Nars top 5’s till kingdom come and I’d sit here watching and nodding :D.
I must credit you for giving me the idea of mixing St Moritz with Cuba to get the perfect medium yellow colour. I use varying ratios of the two all year round. I guess I am going to check out that Hourglass powder now!
I use the Radiant Creamy Concealer in Biscuit, and I only use it under my eyes. I agree with your other picks, except that I wouldn’t buy a coral lip pencil in a hurry. I am much yellower than you LOL. I like Damage, Dragon Girl and Dolce Vita velvet mattes.

I love NARS too. I use that concealer and the eyeshadow primer every day. I didn’t fall in love with their Tinted Moisturizer, however the Sheer Glow foundation is fantastic.

Btw, what nail polish are you wearing on your nails in this video?

I love nars tinted moisturizer so much. I was so excited when they added shades this year…groenland is my perfect match.

LOVE my NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base! I’ve tried other high-end eye primers (Lorac and Urban Decay) and nothing comes close to this at keeping shadow in place. (Actually, I tried the Smashbox base once too, and that worked, but it was “nude” colored, and was orange on me). The colorless thing is the best. MAC Paint Pots are good too, but the NARS is worth every single penny. The little tube is expensive, but it LASTS, you only need a little bit.

I loved the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer formula, but Chantilly (lightest shade) is too yellow for me. Grr! I feel like being pale, if the undertone is even a little off, it’s very noticeable. Many foundations end up being Pepto-Bismol pink on me, and others like NARS look pastel yellow.

I’m thinking about picking up the Light Reflective Setting Powder.

I own three of the five products you reviewed here because of your initial reviews. My personal fav is the Radiant Creamy Concealer, I use it every day.

I’m absolutely mad for NARS’ blush in Gilda and his Lip Pencil in Rikugien.

Have you used Cruising lately? Me like-y.

Haaa…don’t bother about the pauses 😀 😀 You are just fun to watch and listen to 😀

I would have to agree with Bella’s comment – if I had to use only one brand, I would have to go with NARS – sooo many color and product options for my skin tone. The only drawback (for me) is that it’s not available in India 🙁

Definitely need one for eyes, and one for lips. There is just too much wonderful stuff to leave out where the real power is with NARS – the color.

Also, I’ll check on that gorg tinted moisturiser since everyone seems to be smitten with it!

I absolutely adore the Radiant Creamy Concealer!! It’s so easy to apply & blend. I try to support brands that have color selection for darker skin tones (and one shade labeled “dark” doesn’t cuts it haha) so I will always be a Nars buyer.

I love your videos long pauses included lol. I still haven’t got a NARS product yet but I think it will be the jumbo lip pencil variety when I do eventually dive for some.

The only NARS product I own at the moment is Amour blush and its gorgeous! Back when I was in India, NARS was difficult to get hold of but I’m looking forward to trying more from the brand now that I’ve moved to Japan recently! Your post came at such a good time 🙂
