Watch Out, Pores! The New NARS Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector Has It In for You

January 17th, 2014 by Karen 23 Comments

NARS Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector
Newest NARS obsession: the new Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector ($28)

Took me a hot second to get around to trying NARS Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector, NARS’ newest face product, because, let’s be real, I get REALLY easily distracted by pretty colors (see: High Seize, Final Cut, the NARSissist Eye Palette), and Instant Line & Pore Perfector is un-remarkably colorless.

But, I finally took it out for a spin this week, and I’m glad I did.

The name pretty much says it all: Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector. A colorless primer in stick form, you use it target specific areas of the face where you want to smooth out fine lines and pores.

NARS Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector

According to NARS, “line and pore-filling microspheres” in the formula, along with hyaluronic acid, smooth skin and gently plump fine lines. The stuff also has something called “spherical line smoothing powder,” which makes wrinkles less visible by a trick of light. They evenly reflect it and brighten up the dark areas within the wrinkles themselves.

The formula feels like a lightweight, non-sticky, non-greasy balm. Just glide the stick on top of wherever you want some smoothing, and then pop your face products on top.

I’ve been using it as a spot “perfector” this week on top of my usual primer, MAC Natural Radiance. After I work a dollop of Natural Radiance into my skin, I swipe Instant Line & Pore Perfector on my cheeks, under my eyes and around my mouth — the places where my pores and fine lines need serious mellowing. Then, I blend it in with my fingers.

NARS Pro-Prime Instant Line & Pore Perfector

BAM! The difference is pretty dramatic, I think, both in person and in pics. On my skin, it seems to make foundation, concealer, powder and all of the products I regularly use look that much smoother, which is, um, hello! — AWESOME!

I’m planning to stockpile one or two more sticks when it officially launches next month.

FYI, you may not want to leave this lying around, because your significant other might mistake it for a tube of Chapstick.

Because that’s what it looks like to me.

El Hub, please note: this is directed at YOU! 🙂

PRICE: $28
AVAILABILITY: Coming February 1 to NARS counters, boutiques and narscosmetics.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

TIM GUNN!!!

I am convinced that he (Mr. Tim Gunn) is the long, lost fairy god-uncle I was always meant to have.

I LOVE THAT MAN.

Anyway, he has a new show on Lifetime that debuted last night called Under the Gunn. Basically, it’s like The Voice, but with fashion designers.

Did you watch it? What did you think? I…think I wanted to like it maybe a tad more than I actually did.

It was a little slow and very loooong, like maybe it should be condensed down from 90 minutes to 30.

And there are no cool chairs that turn around or big red buttons to press (like in The Voice).

I dunno… I’ll give it at least one more try.

Oh, and while I was watching it last night, I happened to catch a commercial for Lifetime’s upcoming Flowers in the Attic.

Can I just say, “STOKED?!”

I loved those V.C. Andrews books when I was in middle school. The Tivo is already prepped and primed to record it tomorrow night. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hi Karen, this little guy sounds awesome. Do you know if its oil free? I get my pores clogged really easily, so I was just curious.

    Have a great weekend!

    Girl, your skin is smooove.

I’ve never actually watched Project Runway, but I *adore* Tim Gunn. I’ll do anything he says. I just read my Marie Claire magazine, and the page where he answers questions is always my favorite part.

I really like the idea of portability with this little guy. I used to do my makeup at work arriving about 10 minutes early to do it. I had a 2 hour commute so I always tried to beat the traffic. I never brought a primer because I only had a tiny bag of essentials stashed in my desk, but this would have been fabu for my petite work collection!

I have wanted to this this primer since I first read about it. Nars primers are always top notch and this one proves to be the same. I cannot wait to try it. And you look beautiful as always!

I need to try this! The fine lines under my eyes have been eating my concealer lately. It would probably help if I started using my eye cream on a regular basis too lol

It really does make a noticeable difference, doesn’t it? How awesome. I am definitely going to buy this (granted there are no icky silicones).

    Hey Karen,

My pores are as big as saucers and are further magnified when I don’t use a flash.

I think I might need to buy this when it comes out. Do you think it’s a stick form of the Smudge Proof Primer?

This is another NARS product that I’m looking forward to try. Anything with the words ‘pore perfector’ is something I always get excited about. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for posting. I remember when NARS led the pack with a solid targeted primer and people complained because of the packaging – you had to dig into a jar. This stick sounds perfect, and portable. And to think I was just about to go find Smashbox’s ripoff…erm, targeted primer in a tube.

When I first saw this, I thought it was meant for lips only. Didn’t realise it’s a face primer because the packaging is so itty-bitty. I guess it must be really good if you’re already planning to stock up 🙂

Looks gorgeous, I can see the difference! I have a feeling my skin will love this too. And I’m right there with you on Under the Gunn – I want more Tim, and less designers crying. 😉
