Today Felt Like a Guerlain Spring 2014 Kind of Day

January 28th, 2014 by Karen 30 Comments

Guerlain Spring 2014
Wearing Guerlain’s Spring 2014 on my eyes, cheeks and lips

When I passed him in the kitchen this morning wearing this look with pieces from Guerlain’s new spring collection, the first thing El Hub said was, “You smell good!”

But I wasn’t wearing any perfume, unless you count the cloud of Eau de Tabby Cat that permeates my clothes…

I’m pretty sure he was picking up the scent of my makeup, despite that fact that he has the worst sense of smell (his nose was broken several times in his martial arts days), because Guerlain’s spring stuff smells amaze-balls! — like plumeria and jasmine. Even their brow powder smells really good.

Guerlain Spring 2014
That’s Guerlain Cherry Blush topped with Meteorites Perles in Clair on my cheeks and Rouge Automatique in Insolence on my lips

Having slept well and feeling good, I was in the mood to wear something a little colorful today, so I did this green and taupe eye with pink cheeks and fuchsia lips.

Guerlain Spring 2014
On my water lines, both lash lines and on my lids as a base, I’m wearing the OCC Cosmetic Colour Pencil in Tarred. Then, on top of that on my lids and lower lash lines, I’m wearing Guerlain’s Les Tendres quad. I also used the Guerlain Eyebrow Kit in Universal to fill my brows and Physicians Formula Organic Wear CC Mascara to coat my lashes.
Guerlain Spring 2014
I think that replacing the fuchsia lipstick with a nude gloss (Urban Decay’s Naked Lipgloss in Liar) makes the look a little more daytime-friendly.

      Hi Sheryl,

Thank you! If you need Guerlain recommendations let me know. They make lots of lovely makeup! Granted, it’s a little pricey, but when they get it right, they really hit it out of the park.

      Happy Tuesday!

You look so lovely in these shades! I love how you used the shades of the palette, the pale blue/green works really well this way :).

Thanks Teri. Have you tried this shade of Rouge Automatique yet? I think it would look stunning on you!

You look stunning Karen. The eye make up looks perfect. I am really intrigued by this top though. Is it a top or a dress. Does it have an open back?

I stayed at home all day today so I didn’t bother to put on any make up.

      Hi Agata!

It’s a top by a brand called Tildon. I got it on sale for 50% at nordstrom.com. Here’s a link:

Did you have today off or were you working? I thought of you the other day because I had a long conversation with a friend of mine who spends a lot of time on the phone for work, and we got to talking about how the phone sometimes brings out the worst in people, especially in the customer service area. I hope callers have been nice to you lately!

I love that top, too bad it’s sold out in XL because I would be getting it right away, it’s so pretty!

Work has been better lately. It’s annoying at times and I know that I am only the interpreter and most of the time people are angry at the person on the other side of the phone, not at me but still it scares me how rude people can be!

You might want to call Nordstrom and ask if they can find it in-store. Sometimes they’ll have stuff that is still in but no longer online.

I’m glad work’s been a little better. Any good news about the position you were hoping for? *fingers crossed*

Unfortunately I don’t have a Nordstrom store anywhere by 🙁

As far as the new position I got bad news last week, that the research and executive team decided that the demand for video interpreting for my language wasn’t high enough to basically bother launching the project and putting money into it. What a bummer. I have started looking for a new job though…

I’ve was happy with by brow powder till I noticed a textual/consistency change over the last two weeks, it’s only two months old! Is this normal? Is the The Guerlain Eyebrow Kit in Universal worth the $52?

      Hi Darbie,

I haven’t really seen any difference. How has the texture changed? Is it harder?

I don’t own any Guerlain – it all looks gorgeous, especially the blush and Meteorites! I can really deal with too much fragrance in makeup though.

Love the eyeshadow and lipstick! Looking at this palette I didn’t think it was pigmented enough to show up on my complexion. Since I’m a little darker than you I think I could pull this off. I going to check these out in person!

I like the look with the nude lipgloss. Skipping this collection though; I never end up actually wearing my Guerlain makeup. Other things always look better on me.

I hate that Guerlain makes so many things I want! Are the new meteorites really that much softer then the originals?

I just noticed, that the shades in “Guerlain Ecrin 4 Eyeshadows in Les Tendres” reflected light in a such amazing way, they really look very pearly, specially that beautiful pink.

i was also reading your problem with sleeping. one of the best advice i receive was to use a heavier blanket. now, living in the tropics, i don’t use any! but i resorted to using a think sheet and …. it helps a lot for night when i have trouble sleeping.

alrighty, it’s a long weekend on my end of the world, whoopee!

See? Now that is a pink/blue eyeshadow combo that looks nice (much unlike my 80s atrocity). Still, the flashbacks are too vivid for me to go there, myself. 🙂

Btw, that brush is gorgeous. Can you tell I’m in the market for a new blush brush?
