Unsung Makeup Heroes: Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Viper

February 24th, 2014 by Karen 13 Comments

Tom Ford Viper Nail Lacquer
Two coatsssss of Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Viper ($32), writhing and hissing now at Tom Ford counters and online

Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in ViperNot even seasoned snake charmers could tame Tom Ford’s Nail Lacquer in Viper ($32).

OK, so I’ve been on a personal quest, Indiana Jones-style, to find the Tom Ford Nail Lacquer that shouts the loudest to my soul. Before I started, I estimated that this would take approximately forever, or roughly three months, whichever came first, but then I got bit by Viper, which may have ended my personal beauty mission forthright…

Tom Ford Viper Nail Lacquer
Halp! I’ve been bitten by Viper!

Why?

Well, this creamy blackened purplish berry stalks Tom’s permanent line like a cobra stalks a mouse in a field… It’s dangerous! — and if you drop your guard for a second, you’ll be hypnotized.

Equally at home on a bad@ss gal’s nails in a bar fight (a gal who artfully escapes the melee on her Harley without anyone noticing), or a lady in box seats at the opera, or a girl wearing pleather leggings and black Chucks. It’s elegant, tough and edgy — and surprisingly approachable — all at the same time.

The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorite permanent collection products from a variety of bodacious beauty brands.

It’s also dynamic. When I tilt my fingers juuust right, I see a shiny, vibrant purple, like wet grapes on a vine. A second later, it’s deeper, like a bowl of ripe blackberries about to be devoured by greedy, hungry mouths…

Oh, Viper… I succumb! I am truly, madly, deeply under your spell.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Well, we can cross Monday off our lists, babe. Good job. 🙂

How was yours? Mine was OK but a little hectic. First, I had a lunch meeting in S.F., so I had to drive into the city and get back before the traffic, which I mostly managed to do, but it was still slow going, as usual, so I sang Bruno Mars, tried to keep my left arm out of direct sunlight (per my doctor’s orders, I’m supposed to keep my boo-boo scar in the shade) and pondered the meaning of life…

You know, the usual.

And tomorrow looks to be busy again because, uh…I’m going to be a hair model.

I know, random. But my hairstylist friend Alis at Fox & Stone Salon asked if I wanted to be her hair model for a class she’s teaching on Oribe products and, of course, for something like that, I couldn’t possibly say no. I’m hoping to get some secret squirrel stylist tips, which I will definitely share with you.

I hope you’re having a lovely night. Did anything memorable happen today? Big or small?

I really love the color but if I’m going to spend $32 on makeup, I’ll be getting Kauai from NARS spring collection!

If we had Tom Ford here, and I won the lottery, I would totally buy this bottle of polish! It looks absolutely perfect and rogueworthy, and it’s PURPLE!
