A Glammed Up Face of the Day With Lancôme’s Color Design Shadow & Liner Palette in Dancing Rose

February 27th, 2014 by Karen 26 Comments

Lancome Dancing Rose Color Design Palette

First thing this morning I told myself, “Karen, take note of the little things today,” and I’ve taken note of some wonderful little tidbits throughout the course of my day (a hot cup tea, seeing a rainbow, catching Tabs looking extra cute), but I have to say…

Even though I didn’t really plan to go anywhere fancy today, I thought it might be fun to glam it up a little — ya know, for Tabs, and because it’s Thursday.

It all started with the Lancôme Color Design Shadow & Liner Palette in Dancing Rose ($50) from the French Ballerine spring collection. One glance at that deep, plummy reddish purple in the middle, and I just had to get it on my lids, ASAP!

I used the sparkly light purple as a base all over my eyes, patted the pink shade on my lids, swept the plummy shade in my crease (creases?), and then highlighted underneath my brow bones with the light opalescent pinkish beige.

Then, I added a fatty-bo-batty wing on my upper lash line with the deep blackish plum, woo hoo!

Katy Perry Eylure Lashes in Banging Beauty

Glam eyeshadow deserves glam lashes, so I brought out the big guns, Katy Perry Lashes in Banging Beauty ($6.99). These falsies are cray, yo! I could barely lift my eyes because they were so big and so over the top. Definitely not for the faint o’ heart.

Since the eyes were so shimmery, so purple, so BAM! — I tried to keep my cheeks and lips soft to balance things out.

Dolce & Gabbana Apricot Blush

On my cheeks, I swept soft matte peach blush on the apples, Dolce & Gabbana’s Luminous Cheek Color in Apricot ($45). I planned to do pink lips, so I figured that a peach shade on my cheeks would keep it from looking too matchy-matchy. Oh, by the way, this shade is a lovely everyday blush if you like sun-kissed cheeks without any shimmer.

For the lips, I went back to Lancôme spring and did a single layer of a pinkish nude with Gloss in Love in 302 Rose Oscar ($27).

Today I decided to use Urban Decay X (my most expensive eyeshadow to date) and I wanted to wear it with a gold eyeshadow in the crease, but that didn’t really work out so I went over the crease with a medium golden peach color. That didn’t work out either (not enough contrast) so I gave up and I grabbed a dark brown color and buffed it into the crease until I was happy, then I lined my upper lashline with a dark brown liner. It was pretty crazy and I ended up being late for class…lol. I liked the way it looked though! Too bad I might not be able to recreate it.

LOVE Lancome. I have a palette by them that has vivid purples, and I love it. It was my Christmas treat to myself. I love that look on you, Dancing Rose is a beautiful palette. I think Lancome does palettes very well, you can get vivid and fun or something more for everyday wear.

Do I really need more people eye shadows? No. But the look you created definitely has me tempted!

I first saw that over at Perilously Pale. I think it might look better on you if that’s even possible. This is my first Lancome lem in a long time.

I really love such shades and style of makeup on you. And, yes, actually today I am wearing a very nice makeup, too. Glowing skin, cat eyes and cool-toned pink gloss.

Those lashes are the most awesome things ever. I wish mine looked like that every day. This whole look is great on you. And, sit down for this, I’ve worn Glittermania. Out in public. Multiple times. I know, that is truly shocking news. 🙂

LOoking FAB! I love the Lancome gloss in love but I hate the packaging. two of mine have already opened in my purse – something pushes that little button and ugh..messy messy. I keep a little piece of scotch tape on them now – not glam but it works. LOL

p.s. I had to laugh at your lip post-its, I have the exact same ones! I like to anonomously post them on some of my friends office doors – keeps ’em guessing. LOL (ok, they know exactly who they’re from teehee)

I really love reading your blog, you touch my heart and make me laugh out loud either with your antics or Tabs’. 🙂

Fierce Madame Karen! I wasn’t as fly as you, but I did it old school with a smoky brown eye using my Nars Cordura duo shadow, Nars Seduction blush and Mac’s Restrained lippie for a nude lip.

Karen, this look is absolutely gorgeous on you!! I need to re-create that thick plum wing. Did you just use the shadow, or did you use liner as well? I need to practice the shadow wing more, as I adore the look! I have no problems with a wing using gel or liquid liner but I just can’t get a softer shadow wing right.
