See Subtle Signs of Lovely Light With $70 Chanel Jardin De Camelias Illuminating Powder

If this were a PowerPoint slide about Chanel’s $70 Jardin De Camelias Illuminating Powder, the key bullet points would be…

  • Super pretty in the pan
  • Super subtle on the skin
  • Super expensive
Chanel Jardin De Camelias Illuminating Powder
Pretty!

Available now exclusively online as part of the new 11-piece Jardin de Camelias collection, Chanel Jardin de Camelias Illuminating Powder, it’s a sheer ivory highlighting powder with a dainty pinkish rose opalescence.

The super subtle shimmer and rosy pink tint are probably easier to see in real life, where they create a delicate halo of light that dances off the skin, illuminating it all day long.

The effect: very soft, very subtle, and I appreciate that because, let’s be real here, fine, subtle highlighters like this one are more forgiving on skin with larger pores (like mine!).

But then I’m like, “It’s $70, yo!” and I remember that I can get a similar look using a light touch and one of the $45 Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, the $36 Laura Mercier Highlight Matte Radiance Powders or the $16.50 MAC Pro Shaping Powders.

Hmm…

No doubt, Chanel does great powders, and this one’s beautifully subtle — not everything has to hit ya over the head, ya know? But is it unique enough to justify the price? Well, that’s the $70 question. This one might be more for hard-core Chanel collectors and luxury makeup lovers looking for an understated, softly radiant highlighting powder.

PRICE: $70
AVAILABILITY: Available now exclusively online at chanel.com

Aww.. love that pattern and love Chanel Powders, no matter if they are expensive. I always find them worth the price.

$70 is too rich for me! For a highlighter anyhow!

Recently, I am so into highlighters. I love the way they brighten up my face. Surely Chanel knows its job. But $70? 🙁

Is Chanel dusting 14k gold flecks onto your face? No highlighter is worth $70. I’d have a hard time justifying that for *any* makeup, as other brands make fabulous products for a third of that. What planet do these people live on?

That’s just gorgeous! If I ever splurged on a highlighter it may very well be this one.

It seems like it works really well, but you’re right about the price.

Happy Friday, my long-lost friend! It feels like it’s been years! 🙁 This is a beauty of a powder but, as most people agree, for $70 I’d kind of like it to take 20 years off my face, or work some other kind of unicorn magic. 🙂

I have no problem with the price tag; it is Chanel after all, and I usually buy high end makeup if it appeals to me regardless of the price tag.

As lovely as it and was on my ultra fair skin, giving it the most imperceptible glow, I decided to return it. Yes, it brightens and softens my complexion ever so slightly, but because I am so fair, the powder almost disappears probably because of tiny sparkles in it; there is absolutely no sparkle in Chanel’s.

All in all, I can wear this as a finishing powder all over because of it’s white base, but $70 for a finishing powder is just a bit much for me. If you’re more tan, it’ll probably show up more and look really lovely.

Eek! It’s so pretty but thank goodness it wouldn’t work for me! I’m a sucker for highlighters and pretty designs lol. Plus that price tag is insane!

*gulp* Yeah that is a looooot of money for a very subtle-looking product. If you have the money for it, sure I guess, but in my case, nope…

That’s so pretty! But I don’t think I’d pay that much for an eyeliner.

    So. Beautiful.

I want this so badly, but it’s probably lucky for my wallet that Chanel.com doesn’t exist for Middle Earth 😉
