My Philosophy? Unconditional Love Is Berry Good

March 21st, 2009 by Karen 15 Comments

philosophy unconditional love

Heya, girls. What’s shakin’? El Hub and I are cruising the mall after finishing lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (can I just have cheesecake for the rest of my life, please?). Now I’m looking at makeup at Nordstrom while El Hub sits patiently on one of those black leather “boy benches” by the escalators. He has his iPhone and a full belly, so he’ll be fine for a while. 🙂

I’m on my way to the MAC counter for Sugarsweet goodies, but first I wanted to mention what I found at Philosophy. It’s a new fragrance called Unconditional Love. Have you caught a whiff yet?

The Philosophy counter folks tell me it just came in this week. It’s described as a fruity fragrance with notes of blackberry, vanilla and musk, and there are three items in the line: an eau de toilette ($40), a body wash ($22) and body lotion ($34).

I was just walking by the stand when I thought someone nearby was eating berry Life Savers, which I love. I stopped and realized the scent was coming from the Philosophy counter.

Combine the distinct but light blackberry scent with rain-kissed skin and a steaming hot cup of vanilla rooibos tea, and that’s how I think of Unconditional Love.

It has been raining since dawn, and the fragrance fits well with the weather.

Strong fruity fragrances can give me a headache, but Unconditional Love is soft and light, not cloying at all, and fitting for a Philosophy fragrance.

It’s on my wrists right now… 🙂

Okay, time for some Sugarsweets. Here I come, Aquavert and Cakeshop!

Hope you’re having a good day.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

At first when I sprayed this on my hand at Sephora, my reaction was GROSS!
But now, like an hour later, I can’t stop smelling it. I’m thinking I may have to come back…

      Hi Allison,

LOL! I’ve felt that way about fragrances in the past.

Ooh sounds really nice, though I might not check it out for awhile. I just fell in love with another scented collection yesterday while I was at Sephora – it’s the Barbie collection by cake beauty (a Canadian brand). While I think the inspiration is past its prime, the scent is to die for! I might just go back and get the spray to layer over the solid perfume.

      Hi Vanessa,

I’ve heard of Cake Beauty! I will have to hunt that scent down. What does it smell like on you? I’m curious…

Wow, that sounds really pretty. I came back from the MAC counter today sad: they sold out Cakeshop! Oh well, at least I bagged Stars ‘N Rockets and Aquavert. Aquavert is GORGEOUS. I couldn’t resist its pastel green lure, and I played with it tonight. It’s great for spring, and I’m wearing it with UD 24/7 Liner in Stash (only the most gorgeous green-gold liner EVER!) and tons of lashes (L’Oreal Voluminous). I love it!

      Hi Doreen,

Gah! When I got to the counter they didn’t have Cakeshop on display and for a second I freaked out! Thank goodness they found another one on hand. 🙂

Hmm, it sounds like I’m going to have to get Stash!

I just got back from the gym so I might just try a few looks on for fun. My friend who works at the counter was wearing Aquavert with Humid and it looked so pretty… that is tonight’s mission.

Hope you’re having a nice Saturday so far. Let me know if you whip up any other Aquavert looks.

I like Philosophy fragrances, my favorite being Falling In Love. With that being said, my interest was piqued after seeing Unconditional Love on QVC. But fragrance is something that I can’t buy without being able to experience it first. I may have to check this one out after reading your review:)

      Hi Tami,

I hear ya (btw, I think I caught that part of that Philosophy segment on QVC!)… it’s hard to know how fragrances will react to your body chemistry too. It’s interesting how a scent can smell completely different on people.

My favorite Philosophy scent is Grace. It’s an oldie but goody!

What are you up to tonight?

OMG – I was at Nordie’s and Sephora today and forgot that this came out!! I’m not actually a fan of the other Philosophy perfumes (a little too shower clean for me, lol) but this one sounds heavenly!! I adore rooibos tea and blackberries so I will definitely have to check this out when we get back from Spring Break (houseboating for 5 days! :D).

I saw Sugarsweet today too and I went expressly for the purpose of checking out Cakeshop – but I didn’t get it! It swatched way more metallic/glittery than I would have liked and it was also way less green than I thought it would be… =/ I think my skin sucked all the green out of it. I did get Butternutty though, and I’m so excited to try it. It’s like the perfect peachy-pink shimmer. I think it will be totally awesome for those days when I’m running late, lol. 😀

Hi Karen. I want to try it out! Hope to hear about what you got from Sugar Sweet too. My laptop died and I have to share the computer. It is tough!

Hey Karen! Anxious to hear your thoughts on Sugarsweet. I skipped the entire collection cuz I didn’t like anything 🙁 or thought it was dupe-able. Even my MA said the same thing. I think Style Warriors is going to break my bank more than any collection so far.

Re: Unconditional Love…I totally missed it yesterday! I was at Nordies for a couple of hours and totally walked by the philosophy counter…so bummed. I love all their fragrances and will have to check this out FO SHO!

Mmmmm sounds wonderful. I love Philosophy, so it is a must try for me. One of my favorite scents of all time is a Trish McEvoy blackberry scent, so I hope this is similar but with a wonderful Philosophy touch to it!
