What Do You Think of the New MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Packaging?

May 22nd, 2014 by Karen 49 Comments

New threads for the MAC Mineralize Skinfinishes ($32 each, available now at counters and online)

Saw these cuties at my home away from home the MAC counter yesterday.

I went because — well, you know, do I really need a reason? 🙂 — but I was also running low on Bulk Wipes and Cleanse-Off Oil.

What do you think of the new packaging for the Mineralize Skinfinishes?

From the left, that’s Global Glow, Cheeky Bronze, Soft and Gentle, and Gold Deposit

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish packaging

The cover looks a little sturdier than the O.G. version… As someone who’s always dropping things (le sigh!), I hope it is. I’ll probably find out soon enough, LOL!

What do you think?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy Thursday, by the way.

I guess the new ones look more modern, but I prefer the old packaging to be honest. Or maybe I just have to get used to the new one, that could also be it.

The MSFN compact is also new but it has a solid lid with a mirror inside. But it’s not pretty at all. Looks like all the fakes on eBay.

Oh bother, think I might be the only one who prefers the new packaging. Why? Because I broke the lid closure on my current one (makeup, however, stayed in tact, thank God!).

Anything that can help mitigate my occasional clumsiness is aight with me.

I’m not sure we want bulkier cosmetics packaging- I’m sure everyone here can agree that we’re crunched for space as it is! If something is unnecessarily large I’m actually less inclined to buy it.

Is it Golden Glow or Global Glow in the pictures? I only ask because I’ve been interested in Global Glow for some time, and don’t see a Golden Glow on the website. I haven’t owned an MSF before so I can’t speak to the packaging!

I have never bought a Skinfinish (although I know what the packaging looks like), so I’m not really attached to one packaging style or the other…I’m not sure they made a drastic enough change to bother me!

Hi, Karen! Thanks for the great job keeping us informed! 🙂

I actually like the new packaging, it is more modern and fresh if I may say so. Also rrrreally glad that MSFN (if it is true) will be in a compact with a mirror. It’s a compact finishing powder after all, isn’t it, so what am supposed to pull out of my bag, a powder with a clear lid? No, I want a nice compact, which has a mirror and nice lid 🙂 Although, since I bought MSFN not long ago, I will be stuck with it for quite a while and it will be in my draw, not my bag, because of the packaging.

I don’t mind the new packaging. I think it looks kind of cool. It reminds me of a spaceship :). I’m just excited to get Global Glow. I’m lucky enough to already have Cheeky Bronze. Plus, the clear part of the lid tends to pop out on the regular packaging, so hopefully that won’t happen with these.

I honestly thought I was the only person on earth that thinks that the new packaging is very ugly, cheap, and tacky. If I am paying good money for something i dont want it to look like it came from target. I mean reguardless I still love the mineralize skinfinishes its my favorite product from mac. I was expecting every else to be like “oh it’s so sleek looking!” Mac why did you do this? BRING BACK THE OLD PACKAGING!

I want the old packaging so I cant switch out compacts. I was hoping to switch the MSFN to the Alluring Aquatic compact, but I don’t think you can do this with the new version. Anyway to make Mac go back to the old or find a new way to make it work?

And I’m a sucker for packaging so I can

I second the fake-looking comment. I saw these new compacts and MSFNs first in-store before online, and fake MACz definitely came to mind; the MSF bronzers look particularly cheap. I appreciate the new magnetic closure and the inclusion of the mirror, but overall, aesthetically, I can’t really care for the new packaging.

    I honestly hate it!!
Picked up one of the new shades (Medium golden) recently and I’m pretty sure, that although I love the product, it was my last MFSN (or MAC) purchase. We don’t have a CCO in Austria, what I’m very sad about, so I’ll have to find a new ‘all time favorite’ now. Or depot the powder into an old packiging, what doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. So, adièu, my love…

Wow, you guys got the new packaging LAST year, we got it this week – seriously! 😀
BTW, I don`t mind the new look itself, BUT as someone with rheumatism I actually find it super difficult to open the new packaging! Some sort of ridges or an sharper edge or even a button would help me tremendously to get the darn thing opened, lol 😛
PS! I find all your swatches and images of MAC SO helpfull, they are so clear and accurate to the real deal! (having to purchase over internet as we don`t have MAC shops here I live. I am depending on online swatches, so your site is my #1!)
