Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara Is More Dramatic Than a Soap Opera Cliffhanger Before a Commercial Break

Do I want a mousy mascara, a timid one that keeps its eyes glued to the floor, too nervous to embrace the music and attack the dance floor with verve!

No.

How about a mascara that shushes me when I laugh a little too loudly in public, then says, “Be quiet! You’re making a scene and attracting to much attention”?

Not a chance.

Or a mascara that never wants to go out? It just wants to stay at home and watch Law and Order and fall asleep by 8:30?

ABSOLUTELY EFFING NOT.

I want a mascara that hits the gas and takes my hand while looking straight into my eyes and yelling, “We’re about to Thelma and Louise this ish, boo!” as our convertible dives off the cliff! 🙂

The brush

If you’re into bold, brash, loud lashes, new Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Volumizing Mascara ($26) delivers the big O. Built to lengthen and bring the noise/oomph for a full, flirty fringe, it’s packed with essential oils and vitamins B5 and C to condition and strengthen those little lash hairs while curling, lifting and defining with its fancy “double brush,” which is what Team Marc Jacobs calls it, a brush that combines two kinds of mascara brushes — a brush to separate and another for volume and curl — into one.

O!Mega gives me a similarly lush lash look to what I get from the new Lancome Grandiose, which I like. Same intense volume, length and lift, and same slightly relaxed curl (plus, no smudging or flaking, sweet!).

I actually prefer Marc’s mascara to Grandiose because I think it’s slightly better at layering (and a few dollars cheaper). I also think the more traditional, straight wand is easier to maneuver.

Only thing is, O!Mega’s a little tougher to remove, but an oil-based makeup remover takes care of that. Find O!Mega now at Sephora stores, select Marc Jacobs stores and also online.

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (it’s not the easiest mascara to remove)

So, what kind of mascara do I really want?

I want a mascara that will howl at the moon with me, “AWOOOOOOO!” while we run around the forest naked. I want a mascara that makes me feel like I just leaped off the rock at Waimea, and I’m hanging in the air for what feels like f-o-r-e-v-e-r, before that sweet, sweet moment when I hit the water.

That’s the mascara I want. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I watched The Walking Dead premiere today, and holy Ricksanity! I was standing up for almost that entire episode! What a fantastic show.

This mascara does look very nice! It seems to add volume and a little length too. Plus I just love his packaging

The packaging is very classy, however I’m not looking for volume in a mascara but more curling/definition. I do like Grandiose but only with a single layer – I find that it gives me fat spider-leg lashes if I layer it. This one is probably not for me.

Marc’s products are quite pricey and usually worth the splurge. I want even more oomph if I’m gonna spring for MJ’s mascara since there are so many good mascaras out there these days. I would have to apply another couple of coats, I think, and see if it is better than the others that have won my heart. 😉

I want a mascara that will give me volume. I apparently have extremely long lashes, but I find them quite sparse even with the mascaras I use. Mind you I’ve tried to stay away from the expensive mascaras coz I feel like I’ll have to sell my soul to afford it! Maybelline Falsies let me have the curled lashes but without the volume. The ones that give me volume won’t keep my curled lashes curled!!!!!! I guess I have to just keep trying different kinds… le sigh…anyone have other suggestions??

This sounds okay. But I’m pretty sure I have cheaper mascaras that give me the same or an even better result.

P.S.: Don’t give away any spoilers! I just finished season 4 on Netflix and I have to wait now for season 5 to launch on there. THIS WAIT WILL BE PURE AGONY 🙁

Well, clearly I need to try this mascara. 🙂 Also, I watched TWD last night, too. I definitely like this version of Rick better and thought the whole ep was very good. I was getting very irritated with the gum-chewer in the shed but I’m not sure I believe Tyreese. Why not let Carol in? What do you think?

I just used some of my Sephora points to get a sample of this mascara. If it goes on like Lancome Grandiose, I’m not sure I’ll like it. But that’s what samples are for, right?
My HG mascara would be Cle de Peau Perfect Lash Mascara, if didn’t cost and arm and a leg. I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t toss my mascaras as frequently as I do. I guess I’m just really paranoid about germs in my mascara.

That mascara looks good! I’m on the hunt for a mascara too. My current mascara is DC’d I think.

I want a mascara that gives me big voluminous lashes without some wonky brush .. (thinking about the ridiculous Voluminous Butterfly Mascara brush by L’Oreal).

Ooh… me likey. Especially as a person who is between mascaras at the moment. 😀

Seriously, I ran out of mascara, waterproof eye makeup remover, and my polish top and base coats all at once T_T This being Middle Earth, of course I actually have to save up for more because even a tube of Maybelline mascara will set you back like $25… /end random grumble

I just bought this mascara last week. I LOVE it. I agree with everything you said, no flaking or smudging but it is a little difficult to remove. Not as bad as waterproof, but close. Clinique Take Off the Day and a makeup removing cloth seem to work.

I have very long, but thin lashes and two coats of this makes me look like I have false eyelashes on. One coat is perfect for everyday use.

How would you compare this to Chanel Le Volume de Chanel?

      Hi Melinda,

Le Volume de Chanel is better for thickness. Marc Jacobs is better for length!
