There’s something so dang satisfying about exfoliating, especially in the morning. I’m all, “Hey, pores! Take that!”

Sometimes I play as if all of the dead skin cells are being Swiffered away…

I wonder if I am alone in this. 🙂

Lately I’ve been using this new exfoliating product with salicylic acid (which my skin lurves) by Murad called Transforming Powder Dual-Action Cleanser & Exfoliator ($30 for a 0.5-oz. bottle). It’s made for acne-prone skin like mine.

You dispense a small amount of the powder (yup, powder) into your palm, add water, work that into a lather, and then massage it all over your face and neck.

The bottle has a special stopper at the top to regulate how much comes out, so no worries about accidentally pouring out half of the bottle at one time (something I would otherwise almost certainly have done).

According to Murad, water activates bio-enzymes in the powder that digest oil, dirt and dead skin cells, while dissolving beads then smooth and soften the skin.

Wait — did she just say that it digests oil, dirt and dead skin cells?

Yes, she did.

Eww…

But it works!

The exfoliation is slightly more aggressive than the AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel I usually use, but I wouldn’t call it scratchy or irritating, by any means. It’s still pretty gentle.

A couple of rand-o pimples popped up near my hairline last week, and Dual-Action Cleanser & Exfoliator seems to be helping.

It’s available now for $30 online, and at Sephora and Ulta.

I could definitely use some exfoliating. I used Murad’s tinted moisturizer for 100 years before switching to Tarte. It’s a bit more sheer but I always liked it.

Btw, thanks again for the package – it arrived yesterday, to everyone’s delight! The boys had a very serious discussion about where the autographed photo should be hung (each wanted their room, then their “play room” was suggested until it was determined that he would be lonely all by himself on the wall in there). We had some excited kids and happy kitties! Thanks to you and Tabs! 🙂

      Hi Kim!

Oh, you’re so welcome. 🙂 Tabs is so glad to be a part of your decor. Maybe he can alternate between rooms? Or, there’s always the kitchen, which is Tabs’ favorite place in the whole wide world since that’s where the gravy mysterious appears.

Hmm, maybe Tabs should start his own home goods business… I should bring that up during the next shareholders meeting. Haha!

I hope the kitties like the treats!

This looks interesting. Sephora has a similar product that I have heard great things about and I have been meaning to try it. I see a big trend coming with skincare powders.

      Hi Agata,

I didn’t know Sephora made one! It’s been ages since I’ve used any of their skin care items. Years ago I used to use a body lotion (can’t remember the name) and their makeup remover. Gonna check that out!

I’m definitely going to have to check this out! I love products that you have to activate the active ingredients yourself-means they haven’t been premixed and wasting away on a shelf. I’ve always found a bigger different this way, it’s an extra step but the ingredients are so much more potent!

Sounds wonderful! Exfoliating is still the best! I have tried 3 different cleansers from Murad and love them all- this one here I must also give a try!

I’ve only tried one powder exfoliator so far (Tatcha’s), but I LOVED it — the powder power is so, so cool. It’s great to see that there are so many more on the market nowadays!

I was really surprised to read that this is a powder, crazy! But definitely intrigued.

I’m always up to try a new exfoliator. Especially if it’s effective and gentle.
